Don't you remember the song? I was born in the sign of water, and it's there that I feel my best..the albatross and the whale, they are my brother..it's kind of a special feeling, when you're out on the sea alone, staring at the full moon, like a lover...time for..a cool change..blah blah blah..
:-)
Anyway, no, what I mean is, I feel totally at home on the seashore. I don't have lobster very often (too expensive and Nashville has relatively good lobster but, face it, the only place to get really good lobster is at restaurants right off the pier...mmmmmmmm!)
I think I'm going to have lobster for Thanksgiving this year!
My little grand-niece is very, very ill and may not make it. I just learned they're transporting her from a Cincinnati hospital to a Pennysylvania hospital to do emergency pancreatic surgery. (She had been Life-Flighted to the Cinn hospital a few weeks ago from Vanderbilt here in Nashville.) They have no clue what's wrong with her and her systems just seem to be shutting down. Puts everything into perspective, doesn't it, with regard to being thankful for what you have?
Please remember my sister and her daughter and little granddaugher in your thoughts and prayers, will you? She's only about 3 months old.
Thanks! Maybe I'll make a pilgrimmage up there someday, to visit my hometown and other historic sites of interest. Not that my hometown is an historic site of interest, mind you. But, instead of sailing on the Mayflower, I'll go Greyhound instead!
Oh, I put ground beef with taco seasoning, lettuce, diced tomato, lots of grated cheddar cheese, black olives, diced green onions, salsa and sour cream, usually. You know, typical taco stuff, but since it's on a plate you can go crazy with it, unlike a traditional taco.
Oh, I'm so glad you asked. (I knew someone would!)
It's the same as a regular taco except, instead of using taco shells, you crumble up tortilla chips onto a plate and layer all of the other ingredients on top. People tend to eat them with a fork, though, so I guess, technically, they should be referred to as "fork tacos." But that might be construed as an insult.
All of the aforementioned pretty much goes without saying, of course, but one thing that comes to mind is an event such as the Andrea Yates' case, wherein she drowned her five children in the bathtub, and got off relatively scot-free because of "postpartum psychosis," even though she planned the murders and deliberately chased them down and held them under water in the tub. Had her husband done that, and tried to claim "post-paternal" depression, they'd have laughed at him all the way to the electric chair.
I can't tell you that. If I told you, I'd have to kill you.
(All information will be given on a need-to-know basis. And since I don't even know at this point (whether or not anything's going to come of it) I will refrain from making any announcements until I'm a bit more sure myself. I'm not one to invent relationships based on speculation. But ....soon as *I* know, I'll let you know!)
I am a Chrisian but I will vehemently state, without hesitation, that if George W. Bush is in any way put on the same level as Jesus Christ, I'll gladly leave my Christianity at the door and pick up my Atheist card on my way out.
Taught to worship a picture of GWB??? OMG, you've GOT to be kidding!
It has come to my attention that tomorrow is Canadian Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving, all you Canadians!
I was talking to my sister a minute ago. She just returned Saturday from her trip to Banff and she was telling me how breathtaking that part of Canada is, and how she'd move there in a heartbeat, if given half a chance. Makes me even more anxious to get packed myself!
But we were talking about the fact that Canada's Thanksgiving is tomorrow and ours in the States is the last Thursday in November.
But she asked, "What is it that Canada associates with Thanksgiving Day?" See, we traditionally associate Thanksgiving with the landing of the Pilgrims on Plymouth Rock, etc.
Well, I was stumped. I thought about it for a moment, then said, "I'm not sure, but I think they just like to eat."
I run out of "nice" all the time. I'm not perpetually nice, nor do I think we are obligated to be. I keep a healthy balance of all emotions, I believe. My emotions are appropriate for the situation, I believe.
Thanks, Wikked. I was wondering why he's meeting with them and whether or not their removing their veils might be a security factor. Who knows who they might "really" be? What reason is he giving for requesting that they remove their veils? If it's simply because he thinks it's a matter of respect due him, he can go suck a big one.
When Rachel was three, we were at McDonald's one day and, as we were getting ready to leave, I was putting on her coat and hood (you know, the kind that's really pointy on the top? LOL...anyway...as I was tying it underneath her chin, she looked at me with a very mischevious grin and said, "Mommy, you drive me up a wall."
RE: Thanksgiving ain't what it used to be.
Yes, I know, and I appreciate your concern. Thanks, Urs.
