Yep! Although I've got a wonderful lady in my life, when we're apart I still sleep on the same side of the bed. (Although it's usually the side closest to the bathroom! )
It's funny, but I left Northwest Kansas in the middle of a drought to move to East Tennessee where it rains all the time - Now you folks "back home" are getting flooded and Tennessee is dryer than a popcorn fart! Go figure!
It doesn't matter to me who makes the money or pays the bills just as long as they get paid and I feel like a productive member of the household. I'm still going to hunt and fish and raise a garden and I'm still going to eat what I kill, catch or harvest.
If Jackson inherited a million bucks tomorrow or won the lottery, very little would change in regards to our lifestyle. The money would be hers and I would continue to hunt and fish and raise a garden.
If I inherited a million bucks or won the lottery, very little would change in regards to our lifestyle - The money would be ours and I would continue to hunt and fish and raise a garden. Although I would do my best to buy back some of her family property! (It'd give me a few more places, close to home, to hunt and fish!)
Tracy, I really think the key is in the first paragraph of what I've just written - It's more a matter of feeling like a productive member of the household than being the main breadwinner. I'm always going to provide for my family, whether I'm the one who pays the bills or not...
Not a weird question at all. We remain on CS for the fantastic friends we made (and continue to communicate with) and the ones we hope to make in the future here: CS has some good folks. Also, I get a "flower" here every day, even when The Kansan is out of town. Don't know of any other site where he could do that!
Here's hoping you find the one you're looking for here as well
Wonderful story! Unfortunately, it's another one of the urban myths that have been going around for many years.
Kinda' like who was supposedly found crushed in the remains of his chevy at the base of cliff in Az. with only a black spot on the cliff about 200 feet up and no tire tracks; Seems he supposedly swiped a jet engine and mounted it on top of his car. Then he drove to the desert, found a good long straight away and fired her up. Unfortunately for him, after about 2 miles, he topped a slight rise and the car became airborn, continuing on for roughly another 2 miles before smashing into the cliff. Great story. Urban myth...
Of course it's possible to meet your other half here. Earl & Sheila and Jackson & Myself are only two of the good luck stories. Heck, read the testimonial section.
Having said that... Is it likely? NOPE! The odds are WAAAAAAY too high. Still, it's good to know that, sometimes, the odds can be beaten - No matter how astronomical they are!
Whether we choose to believe it or not, I believe fate plays a big part in things and if two folks are meant to be together, love will find a way to get 'em there. That doesn't mean it's going to be easy - I had to wait damn near 46 years for the love of my life to come along, and I had a lot of disappointment along the way - but it will happen. Call it destiny or whatever else you choose. Heck, call it luck - I'm the luckiest man alive - CS is just another tool to lessen the odds just a little.
I'm glad I didn't have to pay to join this site, but given my experience here - that is, meeting "my other half" - even if it cost a jillion dollars, it would have been worth it! (I love you, J! )
Well, Jackson and I think it's pretty great! We met here and we are both happier than we've ever been before and it's all thanks to this wonderful site!
I, for one, am living proof that not only can good relations start with a long distance relationship, it can turn out to be the best thing that ever happened! In fact I kissed her just a moment ago...
I also agree with Burt that there is about a 1 percent chance of things working out - Fortunately we fell into that category with room to spare!
There are definitely a multitude of issues which must be taken into consideration, but if it's meant to be the logistics will pretty much take care of themselves. I speak from experience - With every obstacle that we faced and every potential logistical problem, we found an almost magical solution, to the point of finding a place to rent a moving van directly across the street from the company I worked for at the time, as well as having a storage facility on this end less than a mile away from home. I guess you can't very well argue with fate.
Can it happen? Yes! I am living proof.
Is it likely? Nope, probably not. Most folks are simply too well established where they are to facilitate a move, even if they want to.
But think of it like this: 1% of 100 may be 1. But 1% of 1,000,000 is 10,000 and we're sure happy to have been two of the 10,000!
Last night it was grilled burgers and fresh caught trout with home-made pork and beans - the trout was stuffed with butter and a slice of ham, then wrapped in foil and cooked over the coals - the night before it was country style ribs seasoned with rosemary & garlic with just a touch of sea salt, then grilled to perfection on the brazier.
Not sure what it'll be tonight, but since we're both such good cooks, I'm sure I'll have to double up on the yard work today just to work off enough calories to make room for it!
We did our "weekend thing" yesterday - a 15 mile canoe trip down the Clinch River - so we could avoid the weekend crowd. Then we came home and cooked Trout and burgers on the grill. So I guess it's going to be yard work and putterin' around on the Ramcharger this weekend.
Thanks everyone for all the help. I got sidetracked today with a short canoe trip and have a much longer one planned for tomorrow, so it'll probably be next Monday before I have the chance to do anything, but I'll save all the advice and put it to good use when I have the chance.
Ok, here's the problem: I knocked my ACER laptop off the porch railing a few minutes ago and cratered the screen. Without being able to see my screen, is there any way I can retrieve all my info? I do all my banking online with my laptop, as well as several other important functions, so I really need to find a simple way to retrieve things...
And before anyone asks how I'm able to post with a broken computer - I'm using my fiance's cpu.
I should probably also mention that I am NOT a computer whiz - I can just barely find the on/off switch - so please keep your answers reasonably simple, if possible.

If you were traveling at the speed of light and turned your lights on - Would they do anything?
