If you live in Malta, you will be aware of the Libyan influence of Ghadafi...he's a wily old bird and I have a lot of respect for him.
Look at what has been achieved by our foreign office in the past few years when they realised that trading diplomatic insults, was not effective.
We must learn to learn to negotiate with the Middle Eastern mindset as you would, by exchanging views, cross legged in a Bedouin tent, whilst accepting the hand of friendship in the time honoured way. Tepid sweet tea with the spoon left in the glass and the traditional offering of local delicacies.
They don't like having their noses rubbed in it, it's an insult and quite rightly so. Give and take, all parties must leave the tent with honour satisfied.
