This is the one occasion when you might try a drawing profile just for the first few responses and then reveal yourself to the ones you take a fancy to, only when you read their mail and it’s content.

Agreed, but if you are led on by encouraging mail and lots of it too and then you give them your private e-mail address to send a pic or even just an explanation, it makes you wonder.
Long mails and personal information given on the CS mail system in response to specific questions, takes time, effort and concentration, not to mention disappointment especially when the questioner appears to have taken a genuine interest.
I used to think that way, but concluded that unless you are in darkest Africa, almost everyone has a friend with a digital camera or a scanner. And, even if they don’t, there are public internet cafes or libraries who will help.
Therefore, it still remains my view that unless one declares the reason for being on here for social chat only, it serves nothing but to heighten the mystery!....Your guess, is as good as mine.

No, you don’t stand alone on this point, regardless of the difficulties of putting photos on line; subscribers to CS should make an effort to do so. Ostensibly, CS is a dating site. If someone just wants to chat, say so in the first instance, then we all know where we stand. That being the case, who cares about a photo.
Would you respond or talk to a complete stranger at a social gathering if they had their face covered with a blank drawing? I suggest not!
Is there a reason, I always ask myself? If so, why not be honest and declare it?
I for one, corresponded with someone on CS over some 39 mailings, the response was just what I wanted to hear, kind, considerate and sweetly phrased, but every time I asked for a photo, I was stonewalled, in the end, I just gave up!
The moral of the story, it’s a waste of time and effort, if there’s no photo, following a few mailings.
