American politicians spend there entire careers poking there nose into other countries affairs. I am sure the average American even gets fed up with it.
Well, he kept his promise and had a referendum. Credit to him on that. I would have liked to have seen him hit the EU head on, very hard, well before the vote and really rattle the cage. He appeared to have no, or very little backing from his MP's, which is also disappointing. I think he and the EU did not expect the result they got, and a plan "B" was never even considered. Arrogance, not in touch or threw the towel in? I am not sure.
I read about the vote not being binding well before the referendum. The problem was that many, many people were blinkered and only considered immigration and did not look at the wider picture. Even now I hear people saying the MP's will vote "out", no worries. They have there head in the sand and only believe what they want to believe. Yes, immigration is a major issue, but the UK government should have just said "no", and stood firm, and other countries would have followed. What could the EU do? Instead, if the MP's overturn the vote, the UK will look stupid, and loose all credibility. If they go with the vote, the powerful countries could close the door on the biggest market in the world. One the whole world wants to trade in. We are a major player in the world, but our arrogance could be our downfall. WE could have attacked the EU from within. And before I get accused of being "against", I am not. I just think we should have tried a different approach first, ruthlessly, before we put ourselves in this position.
It is a bit of a strong word. Discussing would be better. I know if anyone tried to preach anything to me they would be wasting there time, and I would preach to anyone either.
