The absurd thing is that Europe has all the means to stop them...if we only lined up those ships to create a physical obstacle (and of course they should stop fishing out the people who destroy their little boats on purpose. Plus, we should do what Australia does: no way you are getting to stay if you have come illegally. That would be a strong enough signal - granted it would not stop all from coming, but the numbers would lower for sure.
