"Hiding" is probably too strong a word. I suspect there are many possible reasons for not showing photographs. It may express, for instance, a desire for privacy or a lack of interest in attracting romantic interest. I know of at least one example here of both of these, and I'm sure there are many more.You would be mistaken in assuming that the lack of a photograph means the individual is unattractive. I know of at least one beautiful woman who is "faceless," and I'm sure there are many other attractive photo-challenged people.
