To answer the question, prices went up very fast, while the salaries left behind. So the economy is doing great but more and more people live in poverty. And then we had the tax scandal, effecting and destroying over 10.000 families, people were forced to sell their house and car, lost their jobs, divorced, committed suicide, and children were taken away, send to a shelter home.
This scandal is known for several years now by the government, the last government fell apart when all these things were shown in the national news. Now the whole government knows all this for about 7-8 years and they're still postponing the compensation for these parents. In the mean time, we have no government, but they're working at it for over 6 months now, and in the end the same coalition that fell apart will rule us again.
I try to avoid using to much plastic. If a cucumber is wrapped in plastic and a courgette ain't, I buy the courgette. I don't buy any bottles that ain't refundable. But avoiding all the plastic unfortunately seems impossible. Even when I buy a pair of scissors it's packed in plastic, so you need a pair of scissors to open it.
I don't care to much about money, in the pub I give many beers away to people I like, but people who never give something back, well, they can drop dead after a while. And I have a lot of love in me, I will give it all away to the woman who wants to have it. If she plays with my chimes, I'll give her a white Christmas.
Just do the things you like, without breaking the rules. I hate it when I am at the shoppingcentre of my village where cyclists and motorbike ain't allowed, but people are breaking that rule all the time. Well, sometimes I do it too, but only if it's very quiet, like just before closing time. Finding your inner peace is the most important thing in life.
actually I don't I live in a small house and also have a small place to put my bike, don't want to stuff my waste everywhere. But I collect lids from beerbottles and give that to KiKa, a dutch organisation that does research after why children get cancer. I think that is fitting well by my chess school. Kika gets money for the lids. My chessschool is there to give children some fun and happiness in their lives. In my youth, books and a good game of chess were the only nice things I had, I hope the children I teach will have a better youth, but I also give them something extra with my lessons and my chessbook that's in stores maybe with christmas. (I hope)
