RE: Electric Vehicle is here to stay

I did the former South sea in about 21.20 hrs/ It's about 400 km's.
Cycling to My sister who lives In Zuid-Horn I did in about 12 hours on my pushbike, on bicycle it should be about 170 km's but sometimes I took the wrong road or I was searching for the right direction. Usually I left about 12 am and arrived at 12 pm.
Guess I cycled about 18-21 km's per hour. (km's not miles!!!).

RE: Electric Vehicle is here to stay

well, I have an e-bike, and it's far from perfect. Where I used to cycle distances of 100 km's-500 km's in a day, now I can hardly ride 30 km's and then I have to stop for 2 hours to reload the batteries. But the reason why I bought it is sometimes I have 2 places in a row to teach with only 30 minutes between and the places are about 8-10 km seperated from each other. On a normal bike I could hardly make it, and if I can make it in time, I would arrive all sweaty. Not Ideal to start teaching.
I have a small garagebox, and only one bike fits inside. So a second bike would have to stand outside all of the time, have no garden either, and stealing bikes is one of the most common crimes in the Netherlands.
In my youth I had a neighbour who used to park his bike next to the railwaystation when going to work, and everyday he came home on a different bike, just what was good enough to cycle the 7 km's on and what wasn't locked to well.

If you are coming to the Netherlands once, you can buy a bike from a drugsdealer for only 25 euro's but the bike will be stolen and if you are caught with the bike, you have serious problems.

RE: Human Being

But let's behonest people. Is humanity really so great? Destroying nature, extincting species and finally destroying ourselves.
I'm not proud being a human. Not that I hate it, but we make one big mess of it all. A lot of things we create, we don't even need, but we create them because it is fun and it delivers money. Take a pc-game. No use at all, without it we still can live. Computers at all, not really necessary, before the '80's noone had a computer at home, and we had a good live. Television? Not necessary. Books? Well people lived before they discovered how to make books. And all that stuff we create also is causing polution around the earth.
The Indians had a good life before the 'white' men came over from Europe, and they destroyed everything for the Indians.
I wonder how it would like to be a cat. Hunting, eating, sleeping, playing and being taken care of by humans.

we can't order to stop the global warming with our cellphones.

RE: Human Being

of course we all are human beings but our governments use models to place us in, and calculate, how much money you can deliver to the state. But one human being ain't the same as the other and they often forget that. Someone who gets out of line is like a disfunctioning robot.

RE: I don't consent...my body my choice

I got my first Pfizerjab last saturday, next will be june the 6th. And I take them with all my heart. When I was 13 I wasn't vaccined against Meningitis, and guess what. I almost died from meningitis, but the schools said that 6 weeks of absence was to much and this gifted man was send to a lower school. That really ruïned my life for a big part. And meningitis is a fast killer, within 48 hours of feeling the headache, you can be dead. It happened to a niece of mine.
So not taking the jab while it is available is plain stupid in my opinion.

renting or buying?

If you are looking for a house, would you like to rent it, or do you prefer to buy it?

By renting all the work on the outside (painting, roof repairs etc.) has to be done by your landlord, and some landlords also do or pay for the inside (plumbing, painting etc).
But your rent will rise with the year and you will have to keep paying even if you are living there for 50 years or more.

By buying the house is yours, and you'll have to pay for the mortgage, but the more you pay the less it becomes.
On the other side all the work on the house has to be done by you, so you pay for it. But you can also completely make the house to what you like it to be. Only you have to take care your neighbours won't complain. (If the whole street has white houses and you decide to paint it pink, you might have a problem).
Also you pay more taxes, and once you have payed off your mortgage your taxes will rise skyhigh.
And if you have no relatives to give the house to when you become to old and ill to stay in your own house, it might be even the healthcare claims your house to pay for the bills.
And when you die and you have no relatives anyone can claim it if you don't put it in your last will. And even if you give it to your children the tax will come around and will ask a lot of money from your relatives/inheritants.

So, I rent my house, being alone I don't see profit in buying a house.
In the netherlands it's even so that if I would have bought a house and I loose my job the government says: You have money, so you don't get an unemployedment benefit, or you first have to sell your house.
Only people who have less than 6500 euro's get an unemployedment benefit.

RE: I Just Thought About Something...

well, I go to the cinema about once in 1.5-3 years, mostly small movietheatres. Most movies in the big cinema's are american propaganda for action and violence.
If all will be available on Netflix, popcorntv etc. I still won't take an abonnement on it. I don't even get tv-channels anymore. If I am awake I am on the internet, and sometimes when I am in bed and can't sleep I watch a movie on Youtube, or watch some politics from the dutch government.

Fact is that someone from the Christen democrats dicovered there was a big problem with the tax-institution in the Netherlands about ethnic profiling and forcing people to pay back 10.000 - 100.000 euro's by acusing them of frauding without any proof.
That someone was Pieter Omzicht (in English Pete) and his own party, the Christen-democrats tried to silence him. The prime-minister was lying and did remember things in a different way or didn't remember things at all. So it is interesting how things will go on, and a lot is to find on youtube.

Most interesting mr Pieter Omzigt told us was that Governments are thinking in models.
Even the American government. And sometimes it seems a party has a campaign that is promising the most jobs for the people who are without work, but often the outcome is different.
In the Netherlands all politics is based on models and with about 34 parties to choose from during the elections, most people choose for the party that is promising the most jobs. But it's also about how much people earn. If you look basically to the numbers you get bruto in you salarycheck everything seems okay. But if you look further on what you have to pay on taxes, you see the big problems. Someone who is living alone and makes 30.000 dollars a year might have (after paying all his taxes) 15.000 dollars. If a neighbour who has a wife and 2 children gets 40.000 dollars a year he might have 15.100 dollars a year after paying all his taxes. So for three extra persons in his household he gets 100 dollars a year.
