RE: what made you choose your profile name?

My Profile Name comes from my original Yahoo ID, which in turn came partially from a Houston Matchmaker BBS system ID (Michael211) which I was assigned wayyyy back in 1992 when I tried the Matchmaker BBS system (for non-techies, before the Internet became WWW capable most "sites" were run on BBS (Bullitin Board System) computer's which you dialed into directly using your computer's telephone modem).

When I signed up for the original Yahoo Personnals in 1999 or 2000, I think, I used the Michael211 id from Matchmaker but it was already in use so Yahoo suggested Michael211_2000 so I took that id instead.

So that's my story and I'm stickin to it! dancing

RE: amanda knox verdict

None of her DNA was at the crime scene nor on the victim's body though (as per what I've heard on the news channels here)... and there was tons of DNA evidence all over the crime scene and body from at least 1 of the 2 men involved in this case.

Given that they were roommates and the eating utinsels were common items both would use, why wouldn't there be DNA from either girl on a kitchen knife? I have to wonder if any forks or spoons also had Amanda's DNA on them... confused

I would never claim to know all the facts, but from what I've heard about this case against her it was extremely weak. Amanda was the one who found her roomate's body and called the police... she could have simply fled the country and been gone long before anybody else would have found the body. What was her motivation for calling the police if she'd committed the crime? dunno

Obviously *somebody* committed this horrible crime and killed that young woman, but I have a little difficulty in believing that her roommate, Amanda Knox, did this or took part in this crime. It simply doesn't make sense and the evidence seems damned weak to non-existant.

RE: Weight

And THAT will cause you to develop a major Calcium deficiency, ESPECIALLY if you are a woman. scold

Eat a little less at every meal (try to avoid FAST food like the plague... that stuff's just loaded with fat!) and move more. Cut out nothing you like to eat, just eat a little less of everything at every meal.

Finally, you didn't put on that extra weight overnight, don't expect to take it off overnight... you have to make lifestyle changes (eat less, move more) and make them permanent and not expect to see immediate results. But do it, eat less move more consistantly and then let me know 6 months from now how it's working out for you. hug

- Michael cowboy

RE: Weight

thumbs up I was going to say the exact same thing! LOL! thumbs up

It's really just that simple, presuming there is no underlying health issue... if in doubt, go to doctor and get your bloodwork done and they can tell you if there are any problems that would prevent the above from working for you. Otherwise, eat less move more.

Snow!

Good for you Angel! It was beautiful while it lasted... I even took some pics of one of the heavy flurrys that went thru here. Unforuntately it's all stopped now and is melting away as the temps get close to freezing finally... so sad. sad

Now we go from pretty winter wonderland to freezing our asses off tonight! frustrated

Snow!

I have a fireplace and stacked firewood and I'm not afraid to use them! LOL!

It got to snowing pretty good here around 1pm, coming down so hard at times I couldn't see across the backyard. Now it's been mostly stopped for about half an hour, but it just got really dark outside again... and the temps are dropping, down to 35F here now.

Amazing, snow AND the 1st actual freeze of this season all on the same day... this is one for the record books already!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." grin

- Michael cowboy

Snow!

Is it snowing where you are yet? How much?

Lotta places inside and just south of Houston proper have been getting it most of the morning... it's very DARK outside where I am right now (just north of the Kingwood area). I'm expecting it anytime now! Yee-Haa! banana

Northerners keep out of my post! Yeah we know snow's no big deal to ya'll, but here in south-east Texas it IS a huge deal as we only very rarely get snow here! So this is a treat from our point of views! LOL!

Damn... I need to find a marriage ring at a Pawn Shop or something and start wearing it then! I'm single and women seem to avoid single men like the plague around here... maybe faking being married would help me actually get some dates for a change? dunno

This is an idea I never thought of before. It has been my observation for a long time that married men seem to have a much easier time finding dates... I never thought to try pretending to be married to get a decent date!

RE: Hot and not so hot

I find personality has a definite bearing on looks... people with crappy personalities often times have crappy looks too! Perhaps that's just my perception of their looks based on their personality however. dunno

The converse I find to be true too, however.

Actually no I don't know. Bruce Willis, Michael J. Fox, Arnold Swartzenager (sp?) and wifey (I forget her name... sorry), Shania Twain, Courtney Cox (damn but that woman is HOT!)... just a few examples. You only get lazy and fat if you want to. How your looks hold up is entirely up to YOU, IMO and my observation. scold

I remember a reality TV show a few years back called "The Swan" where they took these women who were well... not what most people would call physically attractive... and spent like 3 months or so "transforming" them with fitness training and fixed their teeth and some cosmetic surgeries where needed and taught them how to walk and move with "grace" and at the end they did a "reveal" of them to family and friends, all dressed up nicely in evening gowns, and WOW oh WOW you honestly wouldn't believe the change! One of the women on it was actually from very near me living just down the road in New Caney, TX (ok she was already married so did me no good whatsoever but I was still amazed at her transformation).

RE: Hot and not so hot

Not everyone is a poet when it comes to expressing their thoughts and feelings in writing. I read thru most of this topic and was a bit disgusted at the women slamming the OP so hard for simply trying to express himself on here and ask some questions.

I believe it is true that some men look for a woman that they feel nobody else will want... so they can use that to "keep her" in spite of not treating her well. I've known women who were "kept" in that way by those kinds of men, told repeatedly how worthless they were and how lucky they were to have a roof over their heads etc. It's dispicable!

However this isn't IMHO the kind of person the OP is. If anything it sounds like he is a man who got hurt pretty badly himself by a woman (or women) who he had found very attractive and now has a fear of trying to have a relationship with any woman that he finds attractive. Almost like, if he sees a woman he finds attractive he runs an entire relationship with her thru his head and concludes she'll end up being like the previous women he's dated and found attractive so what's the point of going up and talking to her since it'll only end in heartbreak anyways? dunno

At least, that's my read of the OP.

I envy the OP actually... he's had much better experiences with women and relationships than I have from the sound of his post. sigh

Regards Snuggs! ps. I'm not picking on you or your post Snuggs, yours is just the 1st post from a woman I came across on this topic that recognized that the OP might not be such a bad guy after all and that it may be how you read what he wrote that makes apparently most of the women on here think otherwise about the guy.

RE: Online Dating v Traditional Methods of Dating

You are exactly right-on there! However, when all your friends are married it's really not that much fun going out with them as "the 3rd wheel" (I was 3rd wheel for far too many years already, it suxs). Ergo, I sit in night after night now, "looking for love in all the wrong places" (like, I don't already know this? Hello, what was your 1st clue? Grrrrrr!).

Going out as a single male around here is just not any fun... everywhere I've ever tried there's been like 10 men to every 1 woman, and there's plenty of couples of course. If I were gay and looking for men then there'd be no problem as single men are EVERYWHERE here from my observations! doh

If you're a single gal here and can't get a pretty good guy to date you, then it's you! Lose weight, stop the drug habit, or if you're yet another single mom then... well, that's going to be a problem for you. Even men that have had kids seem to prefer to date women without kids... I have no children and I prefer the same unfortunately for me.

Finally, I really don't like bars to begin with as I'm not into drinking and watching drunk people making fools of themselves just isn't that entertaining to me. I know this because I've gone out before, at least 2 evenings a week for several years... it got truely depressing. I finally quit going out. What's the point after all? I'm on here as well as other sites because I'm totally out of ideas. help

RE: Do you think the People will STOP The National Health Care/Insurance Bill

A "Pinhead" is a Rush Limbaugh Geek... if you get into somebody's vehicle and their radio is tuned to Rush, that person is most likely a "Pinhead". They believe that Rush walks on water, the sun sets and the moon rises at Rush's beck and call.

Rush himself coined the term "Pinhead" to describe his followers as I recall. A "Pinhead" from my college days told me that in fact, he was quite proud of the label.

Personnaly I think if there was ever an Anti-Christ then that man would be him. Hopefully one of these days his prescrip pain killer addiction will do him in... oh if only! innocent

So to say that I've demonstrated the musings of a Pinhead, shows that you were in ignorance of what it means to be a "Pinhead".

Except that Iraq never had anything to do with terrorism or was ever a threat to our national security. Saddam's Iraq was only a threat to the security of his neighbors.

RE: Do you think the People will STOP The National Health Care/Insurance Bill

That's funny, cause last I'd read in the news the health care reforms wouldn't take effect till 2013. This is the 1st time I've heard of a 2016 date anywhere. And I have NOT read in any news article any estimates in the trillions of dollars for this thing! The national debt is around 12 Trillion right now, so I have a doubt about this 2.5T number you came up with here. I don't claim to be an expert but these numbers don't seem likely to me.

I however do believe that the health care reforms, if the legislation becomes law, SHOULD begin within a year of any tax increases on anybody. They don't need 3 years, or 6 years, to start implementing these reforms... if the voters aren't seeing results by the 2012 elections, there should be hell to pay. But that's just my opinion.
