RE: is being attracted to someone important or am I just being too shallow.

Scoutmaster, they have a metabolic problem because they're LAZY and eat poor quality junk food! If you or I just stop doing the things we enjoy doing and sit around watching TV every day and eating junk food, WE TOO will have a severe metabolic problem!

Now a few people may have thyroid problems, but with proper diagnosis and treatment that should be able to be managed.

Nobody has a "perfect" metabolism. There is no perfect metabolism in fact. The primary difference between people that are thought to be physically fit, and everybody else, is sweat equity. Move more, eat less, make that your mantra.

I went back and did another mile and a half tonight while watching the last half of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the FX channel... for a total of 4 1/2 miles on power incline treadmill this afternoon. Probably I could do more but it's getting too late now... point is, I may not be in perfect shape but I keep trying. You think this is easy? I didn't just wake up 1 morning and decide to do multiple miles on the treadmill, or 100 ab crunches with weights on my chest, or 100 fly's with 35 lbs of freeweight... I remember when a single mile was pure torture, and 10 ab crunches hurt like hell for days afterwards, and 25 fly's with 10 lbs of freeweights left me hurtin like a SOB!

If you don't try, you won't achieve anything. I call that being lazy and I do not respect it.

I'm a computer software developer, I spend much of every day sitting on my butt working on software... yet I've gone in to sites to set up software and been told I don't LOOK like a computer programmer. LOL!

Life's a journey, not a destination... make the most of the trip.

RE: is being attracted to someone important or am I just being too shallow.

Yeah but you do have a valid excuse hun... I fully expect once you're fully healed up and moving again you WILL take care of that. Right?

I see soldiers who've had limbs blown off running marathon's with prosthetic legs, and I think to myself "What's these single women's excuse? Do their legs not work or are they just plain lazy?" dunno

But to each their own... there's no law that you have to eat right and exercise, but there's also no law that says I have to be attracted to you either (generally speaking, of course).

RE: is being attracted to someone important or am I just being too shallow.

There IS something wrong with a woman that's shorter than a man but outweighs him by 50 lbs if not more. It's just not a pretty picture IMHO. uh oh

Do these gals not believe in romance? Do they seriously think for a second that a guy will be able to carry them over the bedroom threshold on their wedding night? Seriously!

RE: is being attracted to someone important or am I just being too shallow.

Ditto... I like rollerblading and boating and though I can't waterski worth a flip I love to kneeboard. I'd like to meet someone to compliment my life, and obesity does NOT fit into that picture!

However, considering that 1 in 3 Americans are medically obese it would stand to reason that there are *alot* of obese singles out there. Though there don't seem to be nearly as many obese single men as there are obese single women online from what I've seen. confused

My thought is though, if you're not taking good care of yourself now just what will you be like 10 years from now, 20 years from now, etc.? It disturbs me that so many single gals don't seem to care about themselves very much. mumbling

Which leads us back to square 1... that's likely 1 reason they're single and online to begin with. Ergo, I guess it's true that all the good ones really are taken. frustrated

And I just got off the treadmill here after doing 3 miles on power-incline mode! Whooo! Why? Because being fit is important to me and I would never want to be a hypocrit... I ask for no more or less than I have to offer!

RE: Why do so many men not put a photo of themselves on their profile?

I'd suspect married people (both men and women) who are looking to cheat online probably don't want their photo on their profile for their spouse to come across. confused

Also, why do so many people put primary photos that aren't of THEMSELF on their profiles? I do believe that this at least IS actually against CS policy. scold

RE: USA-Citizens forced to PAY Med Ins PROFITS or become criminals!

You know, this is an excellant opportunity for a few Repbublican Senators to step-up and suggest that with a few minor changes they'd like to see they would be willing to support the Democrat's Health Care Reform Bill... just 2 or 3 would be enough to cut out this BS of single Senators holding the Bill hostage! dunno

(they're talking about it on CNN again right now, actually)

- Michael cowboy

RE: USA-Citizens forced to PAY Med Ins PROFITS or become criminals!

Well you know, if the blasted Republicans in Congress would actually try *contributing* to legislation instead of simply being against anything that doesn't orginate with them, then maybe stupd stuff like this wouldn't be IN the current Bills in Congress! This is what happens when only 1 party writes legislation... every day now a different Democratic Senator withdraws his/her support of the current Bill in the Senate until they get "their way" on something, because it only takes a single Democrat or Independant Senate member to decide THEY want something radically changed about the Bill and the rest have essentially no choice but to bow to that individual's wishes.

Republican Congress members need to quit blocking everything not their idea just for political reasons, and start contributing. When you're the minority party in Congress, you don't get to control what legislation is introduced, but you still have a responsibility to contribute to it.

We don't get good legislation when only 1 party writes the legislation, just for this type of reason.. it makes the legislation hostage to the whims of only 1 or 2 elected representatives and the 1 or 2 change daily I swear. frustrated

I agree with the points the OP made, and I imagine if this part of the Bill ever becomes law then the Supreme Court will end up striking it down... you can't make criminals of people for not being able to afford high insurance premiums, that just won't fly!

RE: How active are you in your search on here?

Ditto. Same experience here, and I quickly ran out of anybody else that I was interested in in my general area so on CS.... dunno

It's very very rare that I even try to initiate conversation with anybody on CS anymore, because I've already tried the profiles in my area I felt where interesting over the past 2 years but they never responded. New women's profiles in my area that are even close to what I'm looking for are extremely rare. moping

Well I for 1 have no "lover" so that's a non-issue (unfortunately!). However my fuzzy kiddos happen to be nocturnal... they want to sleep all day and play all night.

The only time I tried to get one to sleep in the bed with me, he stood on my face put a paw in my mouth and tried to lick my eyeballs open. Yeah that didn't work out too well I guess. dunno

I tried though.

Fondling in bed...

After 20 years of marriage, a couple was lying in bed one evening, when the wife felt her husband begin to fondle her in ways he hadn't in quite some time.

He almost tickled as his fingers started at her neck, and then began moving down past the small of her back.

He then caressed her shoulders and neck, slowly worked his hands down over her breasts, stopping just over her lower stomach. wow

He then proceeded to place his hand on her left inner arm, caressed past the side of her breast again, working down her side, passed gently down her buttock and down her leg to her calf. Then he proceeded up her inner thigh, stopping just at the uppermost portion of her leg. He continued in the same manner on her right side, then suddenly stopped, rolled over and started to watch the TV. confused

As she had become quite aroused by this caressing, she asked in a loving voice, "That was wonderful. Why did you stop?"

To which he replied, "I found the remote." cool

RE: Who do you think was the greatest American president?

I would respectfully disagree... WWII brought this country out of the Great Depression, nothing FDR threw at the Depression made any difference at all... it actually got greater (worse) the more resources the Federal government threw at it, I've read.

But once America entered the war, the military almost overnight became the single largest employer of otherwise unemployed men, and industry required women to enter the workforce just to keep up with the material demands of the war.

FDR was a great President I have no doubt, but he could not bring America out of the Great Depression... WWII accomplished that.

Regards.

- Michael cowboy

RE: Who do you think was the greatest American president?

FDR... Franklin D. Roosevelt. The only American President to be elected to 4 consecutive terms... I'd like to see anybody beat that! Ok so they can't because of term limits that were imposed after FDR died, but my point remains.

Further he was elected President during a terrible time in American history, the economy had gone off a cliff and war was breaking out in Europe and finally America itself was attacked by Japan and drug into the conflict... yet he was still one of the most popular and supported men to ever hold that office and he gave his life to it in a way no other person ever has. He accepted a 4th term even though his health was failing and he didn't expect to live thru it.

Finally, he had a crippling disease... Polio. His legs were all but useless, and Polio had the same social stigma attached to it that Aids had in the mid-80's and 90's. Yet he was respected enough that nobody ever mentioned his disease, even during his re-election campaigns his opponents would call him all sorts of names but NOBODY ever called him a cripple or mentioned his ailment! I see that as a testament to the man. The vast majority of Americans did not even know he was crippled and unable to walk, which is just amazing IMHO. For 4 terms the people elected a President who had a socially unsavory disease and could not walk on his own, could not even stand without leg braces on (which pained him terribly I've read).

FDR... if not THE greatest then certainly 1 of the greatest.

Regards!

RE: Online dating Nightmare. (long)

I can believe that. He's lucky he didn't end up dead!

Again this is why you really really need to meet in a public place, and have your cell phone on you. You never know for sure what somebody is really about until you've met them face to face and spent at least a few hours talking face-to-face and getting to know them better.

I know way too much about this stuff, to have this few dates I swear.

RE: WHY DO MOST WOMEN PREFER TALL MEN?

I could be mistaken, but there's 3 feet in 1 meter... so by my calculations if you are 1.88 meters tall then that makes you short (only 5.64 feet). confused

Since meters is your standard unit of measurement there, I can't believe you don't know how many meters tall you are... so what is wrong here?

RE: sarah palin

Yeah that's what the pundits said about FDR too... yet he's the only President ever elected to 4 terms in office. History puts FDR as one of the greatest Presidents in American history too.

Don't fear the Undiscoverd Country. Capitalism is NOT all it's cut out to be. Neither is Socialism, nor Communism for that matter obviously. I believe that President Obama has some sense to him, probably puts his pants on 1 leg at a time just like everybody else who wears pants, and is trying to improve things not make them worse. If you never take any chances, then nothing ever changes. professor

Sarah Palin is just too stupid for my likings (even though I have to admit she's much better to look at than VP Joe Biden is... lol!). Also she's a quitter now, she has no further future in public service in my opinion. It's a pity she can't realize it.

Yeah but I'm not getting any younger and women alas don't seem to be getting any better... I fully expect Tiger Woods wife to end up divorced with children at some point, and looking for a "good man this time". Yet another single mom on the market. frustrated

Tiger of course probably won't ever have to worry about going thru the holidays without a date or girlfriend. very mad

And what was the name of the former police officer that is suspected of killing at least 2 or 3 of his former wives? 1 was never found... yet he apparently doesn't lack for having a girlfriend.

OJ Simpson though most everybody believes he killed his ex wife and her boyfriend, had a girlfriend who was a model even during his murder trial in California and at least up until he got sent to prison for holding up those sports memorobilia (sp?) dealers the other year... it disgusts me!

I probably wouldn't care except I have such a total lack of dates here.... if you're really a single male and it doesn't make you at least a little angry what these guys get away with and still have women dating them, then you need to eat more red meat or something I swear!

- Michael sigh

RE: WHY DO MOST WOMEN PREFER TALL MEN?

I don't generally criticize anybody for their preferences in a partner... but I do find it rather crazy when a woman who is like 5'2" tall only wants to meet men over 6' tall! We can't all be NBA basketball players for Pete's Sake! frustrated

I believe the average American male stands around 5'8" tall, and the average American female around 5'4". If you're a single male standing less than 5'4" tall you're likely going to have alot of trouble I think. uh oh

Of course I'm 5'10" and haven't had a date since 2003 so frankly I'm having serious trouble evidentally anyways and I'm taller than the average American male soooo.... sigh

RE: well it happened again.

If I had to guess... second thoughts, cold feet, got back together with an ex or the father of her children, wasn't actually "single" but still married to the father of her children and realized she shouldn't be meeting other single men in real life... take your pick.

I've had the misfortune of meeting a gal at The Olive Garden for dinner once, turned out to be a real whale of a woman who went on and on about how she was a real screamer in bed and she just thought I should know that upfront (yeah, right... like I was really that curious about it?). We parted ways AT the resturant (though I have little doubt she'd have agreed to going to a motel or my home at even the smallest suggestion, and I made damn sure not to make any such suggestion)... then a few weeks later I get a call from some guy asking how I knew his wife! wow

Turns out she was in fact still married and living with her husband and their 3 children and he was going thru his detailed phone bill trying to find out who all the strange phone numbers she'd been caller were.... doh

I assured him his wife was a fat pig and a lier and no way in hell did I do anything OTHER than meet her for dinner (which I of course paid for, and man could that woman eat geez!) and I wished him the very best and hung up.

So yeah, that's the kind of dating experiences I've had here in Texas. mumbling

RE: Internet dating - Getting what you expected ?

I don't believe there was a www online until sometime in the early 1990's however. Prior to that the internet was mostly text based (no graphics whatsoever) and mostly inaccessible to the general public. I recall that back in 1989-1990 the big thing in the college computer labs was to play an internet game called MUD... it was freaky, I went into the labs late one evening and there's all these students at terminals giggling to themselves as they're typing. uh oh

I was told they'd go all night playing that text based game online, and all thru the weekend many times. Weird!

I was on the Houston Matchmaker BBS system originally around 1992 or 93 for a year or so. Never met anybody from there either... times may have changed, but my dating experience around here has remained pretty much the same.

doh

- Michael sigh

RE: Internet dating - Getting what you expected ?

Well, I think women can meet as many men as they desire or have time for online... every kind of man you can imagine can be found online on these sites.

Men, we're just screwed though. Any woman that's anywhere near us that we have any interest at all in contacting will universally ignore us. I think women for the most part only want somebody to talk to that's far far away so they'll never have to worry about meeting up for dinner and a movie. It's like, we're supposed to be an interactive romance novel or something. dunno

Which of course makes the odds for a single male meeting any single women from online dating/social networking sites pretty damn long from my experience.

- Michael sigh

RE: What is the matter with people on this site...........

This is the typical single male experience on this and similar sites. You don't have to read very far into the Forums on CS to find many similar complaints from single men on here. I've never had a bit of luck on here and I've been active on CS for over 2 years now... yet my profile mainly gets viewed from women on the other side of the planet, and almost never from anybody from my state much less my general area.

A couple weeks ago I happened to spot a woman's profile that wasn't very far from me that was actually "Online Now" for a change (most havent been online in over 4 weeks, ergo they'll probably never come back on here... I wish the site would just delete people who don't log in in over a month as they're a waste of time). Anyhows I sent her a nicely thought out but concise message. The next day I saw that she'd actually viewed my profile, but have I ever gotten a reply back? Guess! frustrated

So as I said, your experience is about the norm for single men on CS and similar sites. I have no better ideas what to do... I ran out of better ideas many years ago now. help

RE: Worse Ratio of Women to Men in the world

Mmmm... I am kinda angry with women in general though. I'm not angry with any specific woman, just in general.

In general, women seem to be hell bent on dating/marrying the worst of the male population... 10 or 13 women depending on who's counting were all convinced they were the only woman in Tiger Wood's life (or maybe the only OTHER woman at least), when in fact he was cheating on them all and his wife all at the same time roughly. What is up with that? They're all every one of them attractive women with no children from previous relationships... you can't tell me that they couldn't find good single men to date, instead they all ended up dating Tiger Woods a married man with 2 children at home. How bright is that? Now they're all getting on talk shows talking about how betrayed they feel... one was on 20/20 last night nearly in tears because she thought SHE was the only woman Tiger Woods was cheating on his wife with! rolling on the floor laughing

So yeah, it makes me angry in general... this seems to be a recurring theme with the females of our species. scold
