Unfortunately there was a time not too long ago when America had an isolationist policy, we didn't give a rats-butt what happened around the world; it was none of our business and didn't concern us.... and from that policy came WWI and then WWII, and in each case we got dragged into those conflicts (we sure didn't start the darn things). If the rest of the world would behave on it's own then we wouldn't need to be trying to police it!
The American people sure didn't ask for this responsibility, and we surely cannot afford it... if we're going to have to play policeman to the world, then the world should be paying *us* for the service not the other way around!
So before you complain about our actions around the world, you better think back to how it was when America wasn't trying to police the planet and how well that worked.
IMO, the Israel/Palestinion issue has no solution apart from genocide perhaps. The conflict there has been going since time began and as long as the 2 peoples who are diametrically opposed to each other's existance continue to live right beside each other, there is going to be nothing but conflict and suffering. As an American, I'm fed up with my government wasting time and resources on an essentially unsolvable problem. Every US administration I can remember in my lifetime has come to office with high hopes and plans of solving this stupid problem, and not a one has managed to or ever will IMHO. Time to say "screw-it".
We're heavily in debt and it's getting worse here, no foreign entity should be getting money from the US period! When you're borrowing money from other nations (and they do expect to be paid back WITH interest you know!), you don't go giving that money away to others around the world. It's insane!
If I went to my local bank and asked for a loan of say $10K, and they asked (and they will ask!) what I wanted the money for, and I said I just wanted to give it away to people in need... they'd flatly deny the loan! Hello???
Let Syria or Russia or somebody else give the Palestinian's money if they so badly need it (to buy more rockets with I'm sure.... oh wait, Syria gives them those for free I bet).
I heard/read 80 Billion a year, somewhere. Plus all the free military hardware the Israelies can handle! It wouldn't suprise me.
It's insane that we're over 10 trillion in debt ourselves, yet we're borring money from China to give to other nations/groups around the world.
If the government want's to give money away, it should at least start at home! Any struggling homeowner gotten a dime from the US government yet? Oh wait, I bet there're some bankers and auto makers who have though... I forgot about them!
This was the 1 issue during the campaign last year in which I totally agreed with McCain: I saw a blurb on CNN where McCain said that given our economic situation we should stop foreign aide payments and use that money to help our own stugglying economy and homeowners who are losing their homes! Unforuntately, that was about the only sensible thing I thought McCain said.
And anybody that says "Yes" to this poll should be barred from having pets period. If an animal that's totally dependant on you means so little to you then you should not have them to begin with. That's just dispicable.
I uhmm, hate to point this out... but 3 of President Obama's cabinet appointees have already had to withdraw in disgrace, and 1 though he was confirmed in his appointment is still very questionable... how do you "forget" to pay thousands of dollars in Social Security Tax? It's like the most simple and straightforward tax in the entire country!
That said I'm not judging President Obama just yet. It's way too soon to tell where he might take our nation. I'm hardly convinced he's the Promised Savior or that he can walk on water or anything... I think too many people are putting the man up on a pedastal so high, he's likely to pass out from lack of oxygen and fall big time!
The only saving grace is that my State of Texas still has the legal right to secede from the Union if the majority of our state citizens vote to. LOL!
I sincerely hope that President Obama does a very good job as President of these United States however! It's in all our best interests that his presidency is a huge success!
But it wouldn't hurt for people to be a little more realistic and quit being so far left or right... President Obama is just a man, like any other, and he'll make mistakes just like anybody else... he can NOT walk on water peeps!
Well Carla, if you look at all the posts to this Forum for this month so far, you'll notice that you're the only woman to post... there's plenty of guys here, but we're not gay so we get pretty bored posting to each other pretty quickly.
Kinda need more Texas gals in here, otherwise it's just not gonna be very much fun.
Is it really worth a single male having a profile on this site? I just did a search of women within 100 miles of my zip who've been active within the past month, and the results were nearly non-existant. This can't bode well for my chances of actually meeting anybody from CS.
I mean, if somebody hasn't even checked-in to CS in over a month (and it could be years since they last checked-in, the site only counts up to a month), the odds that they'll ever check-in again are pretty unlikely I'd imagine. And I really don't relate well with people from far away who I can't actually meet for dinner and a movie or something along those lines... know what I mean?
Thoughts? I find it basically impossible to meet anybody I feel at all compatible with, all my friends are married and nobody knows anybody they say they could even introduce me to. Seems like every way I turn all I've been finding are dead ends... getting more than a little tired of that. And I suspect CS is not going to be any different at this point.
It's been ages since I've had a bona-fide movie and dinner date. Something wrong with that I swear.
At the bus stop it was a young lady’s turn to get on board. She became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.
Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg. She tried to take the step, only to discover that she still couldn't.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the third time attempted the step.
Once again, much to her chagrin, she could not raise her leg high enough. With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more, and yet again was unable to take the step.
About this time, the tall Texan who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.
The young lady went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan yelling, 'How dare you touch my body! I don't even know who you are!'
The Texan just smiled and drawled, 'Well, ma'am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kinda figured we was friends.'
If every problem were a nail then every solution would be a hammer.
You assume that going out to clubs is somehow a good way to meet single women... it's not. Most clubs have more couples and single men than single women, and those few single women aren't too outgoing and friendly I've found.
Then there's the fact that not everybody likes to go out to clubs to drink and dance the night away. It makes it near impossible for those of us that don't really enjoy the night-club lifestyle to have any success going out to such places.
Games can be fun though... I like racquetball for example!
Can't imagine why some people would be so anti-game oriented. Women should be more open to playing games, they might meet some really great guys that way.
