How do you meet people these days?

The keywords there were "where I live"... lol! You're not from my neck of the woods, hun. hug

How do you meet people these days?

Thanks but I'm not a biker or in to bikes. I prefer my jetboat. And so do most other guys apparently as random men are always coming over to ask questions about it when I'm filling up at the gas station or docks on the lake. On the way to Lake Livingston one Saturday a vehicle beside me on the highway actually slowed down, rolled down the window and took pictures of the boat as we're doing 65mph on 59N towards Livingston... dunno

The site's not bad, there's plenty of good guys on here from Texas... just, not so many gals from Texas unfortunately. There'in lies the problem.

RE: why are women so pickie?

Rotate your pic, that helps alot. professor

You'll still get criticized for it though. That seems to be what people like to do on here. dunno

RE: Do Pickup Lines really work ?If so lets hear them!

Well they're only icebreakers, good for getting a chuckle and hopefully a little conversation started. However, you have to find somebody interesting to tell them to... that my friend appears to be the impossible part IMHO. sigh

RE: Avatar was...???

Awesome movie! Though I found the 3D glasses totally lacking in style... thank God for a darkened theatre! cool

RE: Does Biden Scare You?

We survived George Bush Jr., this country can survive anything! doh

ps. Did you see the press conference today with President Obama and former Presidents Clinton and Bush? George Bush has really REALLY aged dramatically I swear! Clinton has pure white hair, but otherwise seemed much more animated and somehow not as old. Also I think Clinton was the only one that didn't read from a prepared speech, the other 2 were almost constantly looking down (at a speech on the podium I guess?). I was just surpised at how George has aged so badly in such a short time. wow

RE: Haiti News Coverage

Well, Diane Sawyer only looked that way the 1st day she was there, fresh off the plane I guess. In the past 2 days her clothes now look all rumbled up as if she's been sleeping in them...

It is a little ridiculous that the news reporters (and camera operators and their security entourage) are like EVERYWHERE in and around the disaster zone, and yet rescue teams and aide personnel are almost nowhere to be found. Maybe it would be more efficient to let the news reporters direct the rescue and relief efforts? dunno

Something about Haiti that really bugs me though, is that almost every adult that's been interviewed admits to having 5 or 6 children at least. If you're living in poverty in a resource-limited country, why are you having so many kids? That's insane I swear, and 1 of the reasons this earthquake has led to such a humanitarian disaster. Earthquakes don't kill people, collapsing buildings do though.

Sadly, this disaster may actually be the best thing to happen to Haiti ever, for those who survive it. After the Black Plauge swept across Europe, killing almost 50% of the population, life actually improved substantially (for the survivers)... people who had no hope of owning land before, suddenly found land aplenty, and even though far fewer acres were being cultivated for food, the overall diet of the survivers improved significantly with a lot more meat and vegetables available. And then you get the European Reniassance occurring! All this from a disease that spread like wildfire killing almost half of the people. This tells me something important. professor

I feel very sorry for the individual's affected by this disaster, but as I say it may ultimately be the best thing to ever happen to Haiti. dunno

Regards.

ps. We have the same kind of slip-fault in the middle of the United States too, and it hasn't slipped in over 200 years. The last time it slipped the upheaval was apocolyptic; church bells rang as far away as New Jersey and South Carolina... it broke the famous Liberty Bell. Back then the people living in the area fled in terror... now, the city of St. Louis sits just about right in the middle of that slip fault. Wonder what's going to happen when that thing decides to slip finally... food for thought. confused

RE: Finish the sentence: You know you're getting old when...

You know you're getting old when women tell you you're not dating material because you've never been divorced (or even married!). Like this is somehow a bad thing? dunno

I don't get it.

- Michael sigh

RE: no response is disrespectful??

You're sweet, but I'm a bit too.. genuine, I guess. I cannot fake such a message, the very process of faking the message would invalidate it. confused

I appreciate the offer of help, however. hug

- Michael

RE: no response is disrespectful??

You are a very pretty woman, but you aren't from my area and your profile doesn't say alot about you... who you are, what you like to do, etc. I wouldn't message you as a result. I wouldn't even know where to begin to write a message to you... the only thing I could say is that you're a very pretty woman and that's it. dunno

Regards and best wishes. hug

- Michael

RE: no response is disrespectful??

I can't help them. You have to see with better eyes than that. dunno

RE: no response is disrespectful??

I can't always go back to the threads I've posted in... sometimes work get's in the way. dunno

God but I wish I had your problem there... well, gender reversed of course. My Inbox is perpetually empty on here. One nice woman in Nebraska messages me occassionaly just to say hi and see how my kiddos are doing. Nobody in Texas has sent me a message or replied to my messages in ... well, quite a long time now. moping

Better to have your cup runneth over, than empty. sigh

There's nothing wrong with you, and I know there's nothing wrong with me. Why? Because I try to do the best that I can, to be the best that I can be... and I presume you do as well.

So if it's not you and it's not me then it has to be the gal's in our respective areas. confused I may not be God's gift to women but I know I'm better than the average guy in my area because I try... so why do the guys with criminal records who own nothing but live in run down rental trailer units never seem to lack a girlfriend? There's something wrong with the gals, that's my conclusion. very mad

RE: no response is disrespectful??

My reply would be quite simple and honest, "I'm very uncomfortable around other people's children... I simply have no interest in dating single mom's. Sorry. Best wishes!"

I also find overweight to be unattractive, but in the example you provided there is no need to mention that... children from previous relationships is more than sufficient reason for me to not have an interest in a relationship with a woman. I state as much in my profile text.

I also find smoking to be unattractive, as well as excessive drinking or any drug use at all... there are plenty of women in this world I will not be attracted to, I'm looking for just 1 that I am attracted to and that is attracted to me! But I digress...

So if I then get a hateful message back, I Block and think no more of it. Heck I get cussed out on these forums at least weekly now over the single-mom issue, I'm used to the hate that's directed at me at this point.

dunno

Now, if that same lady wants to just talk with me and learn more about the raccoons which I rescue and raise (pics of them are on my profile), or the model aircraft I fly (also pictured on my profile), or whatever, then I'm more than happy to chit-chat about those interests with practically anybody that has an interest. I don't have to have a romantic interest in you in order to enjoy talking with you about my furry kiddos for instance. Heck you don't even have to be local in that case!

Regards and best wishes!

RE: no response is disrespectful??

Ok I'm not a girl obviously but 1 of the 1st things I notice about your profile is that your primary pic is out of focus. dunno

And your background in that pic is just a plain picket fence. As a guy, I notice these details... out of focus photos, not showing you in an interesting setting.

Absolutely NO offense intended mind you! But from a guy's perspective these are the 1st two things I notice about your profile without even pulling it up to read what you wrote about yourself and what you're looking for on here.

RE: no response is disrespectful??

But why do women on here (and other so called dating/social networking sites) not acknowledge people who DID bother to read their profile (and happened to check out the pics too, while we were there) and only sent a message because we read some things that seemed like common interests and we seemed to meet each other's general criteria? confused

I never fail to mention specific things I read in a woman's profile that made me interested in communicating with her, yet I never get a reply back... what's wrong with you gals? I have to wonder why ya'll are even on here if you don't want to get to know anybody from your area. It makes no sense. dunno

- Michael

RE: no response is disrespectful??

And on the other hand, there are guys like myself who only occassionally message/flower a gal on here, and only if after actually reading her profile we find some common interests and matching criteria and write a message specifically to HER, and never get any replies back. confused

So, what's the winning strategy for a guy on here then? Send generic messages in bulk to as many women as possible without even bothering to read their profiles, with the hope that maybe 1 or 2 will actually reply back... or, take the time to read profiles, and only send messages to a select few who maybe share some common interests, only to get a 0% reply rate? dunno

I'm talking years here mind you, I've been on CS for well over 2 years now and have a 0% reply rate so evidentally what I'm doing doesn't work worth a damn. frustrated

What's wrong with you gals? Inquiring minds would really like to know. blues

Regards.
