RE: Would you lose weight for love?

I teach English every day to IKEA employees. In my region of Spain many of the store customers are Swedes living here along with other ex-pats from the UK and other European countries. Many of them are extremely overweight,(men and women) but have no qualms about dressing in shorts and skimpy tops. Perhaps it´s the ex-pat life which causes it, sun, sand and sangria!

I wouldn´t call them "ugly" as you say though, because many are not, despite the excess weight.

Ugly people come in all sizes.

RE: tell me your opinion please

I meant age attractive hence the " " and I said a lot of men...not all.

RE: Would you lose weight for love?

He´s probably bald and unnattractive. rolling on the floor laughing

Seriously though, I see the merit in what you´re saying, but sometimes we are attracted to people who don´t fit our perceived norm, I know I have been.

I think with this man it comes down to a control issue as others have said.

RE: tell me your opinion please

What are you moping around for Cristina? You´ve got years before you get to your 50´s. laugh wave

RE: tell me your opinion please

Based on your pics you are an extremely attractive woman, and I´m sure you already know that. However, you´re in an age group which sadly, and particularly for women I think, is not highly "attractive" for a lot of men, even those of your age and older, despite what some of them....not all....are saying here.

RE: Would you lose weight for love?

A Canadian/US size 16 is an 18 UK size I think, or is it 20? Whatever, that´s pretty big. However, I agree that this man is not worthy of her if he places conditions like this for agreeing to marry her. What a bloody cheek! I bet he´s not Mr Perfect!

RE: Fat Children,-Ignorant Parents?

No, and who needs to buy steak or cod anyway if on a tight budget? There are cheap cuts of meat which can be made into a nutritious stew, rabbit is popular here and very cheap, and fresh sardines for example are dirt cheap, cheaper than a packet of frozen "fish", and very healthy.

RE: Fat Children,-Ignorant Parents?

Personally I don´t believe junk food is cheaper. Sometimes I look in the shopping trolley of families which are often laden with sugary drinks and cereals, crisps, cakes, chocolates and a lot of processed foods....tins and ready made meals, which add up to quite a sum of money, particularly when you add in a couple of family trips to McDonalds or the like.

A trolley or basket of fresh fruit and vegetables, chicken, fresh fish, eggs, yoghurts etc is much cheaper, and even more so if the fruit and veg is bought in a greengrocers rather than a big supermarket. I watched a documntary sometime ago about this very argument and it was proven that the crap food worked out more expensive, despite the parent´s prior protestations that healthy food was too expensive for them to buy. The real problem was that the parents were either too lazy or just didn´t have time to cook a healthy meal with fresh ingredients preferring to throw some processed rubbish into the microwave or fry a few "fish" fingers with starchy oven chips.

Many children do lead more sedentary lives, I agree. They are ferried everywhere by car, even a short distance to school, and they sit at their computers or game consoles rather than go out to play. Here, many of the children still walk to school, the younger ones accompanied in groups by a teaching assistant or one of the parents on a rota. There are very few fat young children, but teenagers are becoming heavier I´ve noticed.

RE: Whinny People

laugh I thought that too. Isn´t it ironic?

What´s the difference between whining and complaining?

Good luck to you both.

RE: wot didya eat 2nite....

I didn´t eat tonight. I had lunch at 2.00 then had five more classes until 9.00 pm without a break. When I arrived home at 10.00 I´d lost my appetite and couldn´t be bothered to cook anyway, so I just had a cup of tea.

I´m going to have a big bowl of porridge sweetened with honey when I wake up tomorrow morning though. grin

Don´t you just hate it when.......

......you phone a company with a query or complaint and get transferred to three or four different departments/people and have to explain the whole thing over and over again....without a satisfactory result at the end of an hour or so on the telephone! sigh Happened to me today.

More don´t you just hate it when....?

RE: why R u in international site?

For those like myself who aren´t too fussed about meeting anyone in the romantic sense, the International forum is great for chatting with people all over the world and gaining an insight into different cultures, opinions and ideas. It causes a little strife at times though!

I think the serious daters would be more successful on a national or local site.

RE: Hugs, Kisses and Handshakes

Yes,, the kissing is constant! laugh I´m used to it now, but I do get caught off guard at times when I have my native English head on, and it can be quite awkward when someone leans in for a kiss at the exact same time I put my hand out!

When I worked in Russia I learnt that men always shake hands, even in an informal setting, but rarely with women. The women just get a hello or nod of the head.

RE: Arguing for the sake of arguing.

No it doesn´t, you´re right. wave

RE: Arguing for the sake of arguing.

I´m not attacking, for goodness sakes. I had my personal thoughts on the matter and only posted because Cherry was the underdog and I happened to agree with her. Again this highlights the fact that people can never agree to disagree here!!

Cherry is not my friend, I don´t know her other than what I read on the forums Ccincy. All threads are open for discussion, pro, con or whatever, I offered my opinion which coincided with one other on the thread at that time.

RE: Hugs, Kisses and Handshakes

Well, British reserve and all that requires a certain distance when meting somebody for the first time, so a handshake is the norm, particularly in a professional setting. However, after living in Spain for almost 7 years I kiss people on both cheeks as a Spaniard does, and accept that people like to get too close to me, though I´m not always entirely comfortable with it. laugh

RE: Arguing for the sake of arguing.

No it doesn´t Ccincy. You are the stirrer, and you have proved it yet again by accusing me just because I offered support and agreement with Cherry.

How dare you call me a pot stirrer. It´s simply not a part of my character/personality at all to act in such a way.

RE: Arguing for the sake of arguing.

Perhaps, and I only posted in support of Cherry, so that´s fair isn´t it?

I spent some time last night trying to persuade others to read a thread differently and stop lambasting the OP to no avail so please don´t say I´m unfair. I´m probably fairer than most here.

Yes, it is ironic I agree! wave

RE: Arguing for the sake of arguing.

thumbs up I have to agree. I think the OP knew exactly what she (Ccincy) was referring to when her thread was posted...the forums... then changed tack after reading some of the negative responses.

Sometimes those who appear the most innocent are those who stir up trouble the most, indirectly of course. I´ve been here a long time and I can spot them immediately. I prefer honesty and directness. Yes, sometimes that may get us into trouble too, but at least it´s upfront and not sly.

RE: Perception, something to think about...

Yes I agre, but to be fair parents may have been trying to "drag" their children to school, or trying to fit the daily shop amongst the mountain of other things thy have to during the day with a child in tow,

The other thing is that street musicians are often viewed in the same way as beggars, and people usually turn a blind eye to them as they do for the person sitting in a shop doorway with a dog and a hat or cardboard box awaiting proffered coins. I think that along with rushing to and from work, school, or the supermarket, are the reasons those people couldn´t take a minute out to stop and listen to the incredible music he was offering.....for free as it turned out!

RE: American men and russian women.

My experience of Russian women after living there for a couple of years is that they look after themselves physically, (sometimes OTT in my opinion), and they look after their men without losing their independence. They are generaly very strong women you know.

Those who are seeking older men in order to obtain a passage out of Russia may well be a different kettle of fish. I didn´t meet any of them.

RE: sleeping with a woman/man describe..........

The longer one sleeps alone, the more difficult it becomes to sleep with another person.

I love my double bed, I´m a restless sleeper usually, and I talk in my sleep. I also shared a bed for over 25 years with my ex husband so now that I´m used to it, sleeping alone is a luxury.
