I´m an English woman with adopted Spanish nationality, but I´m still, and always have been, a socialist. I was one of those radical young people who didn´t change, nor will I!

People, not money, remain my priority.

I think I´m amongst a minority on these forums which surprised me at first, but now not so.

21 is the ideal age to make a protest about anything whatsoever.

Most will eventually go on to change their opinions and blend in with the rest of the middle class wannabe upper class people.

Demonstrations, public protests, are what youngsters do with gusto in general, part of growing up if you like, but these days it rarely makes a difference in the great scheme of things unlike in the past, at least in Europe.

We are seeing it here in Spain at the moment, but the majority being students playing guitars and sleeping on the streets, aren´t going to change anything.

LOTS??? I´ve been here on and off for over 5 years and there have been one or two (long term)successes only, but LOTS? Yes a few more potentials and numerous threads about togetherness, but sadly they soon break up in time.

No, for me, this is a place solely to communicate with people around the globe as penpàls, nothing more. I don´t look for anything more than that here and prefer to meet people in the real world, both for friendship and romance.

Someone said earlier in the thread.....Wall I think....that those who complain about backstabbers may well be the true offenders...or at least implied the same. I have to agree in part as I have never in my life been a victim of "backstabbing" nor been a perpetrator, and if I have been a victim of it unbeknownst, then it didn´t have the desired effect.

Trusting people and backstabbing are not synonymous so I don´t really understand the connection here.

I could quite happily use my voice recording that piece of poetry, it´s beautiful. My problem is trying to evoke the emotion and feeling to record poetry I don´t particularly care for .

I don´t believe that "supply and demand" is always profitable.

Think of how many people without chldren who wish to travel during July and August yet find it impossible due to the cost. In addition, families who also find it restrictive financially.

No, I´m sorry, but the flight companies are trying to take advantage whichever way you look at it.

You know, during the school holiday periods. It drives me crazy!

I return to the UK in July and August, partly because 45-50 degrees in Murcia is way too hot for me, and I usually teach "lovable" teenagers in an International school. However, even the budget airlines are quite expensive at thos time, and I think it is totally unjust that the airline companies exploit us in this way.

When I was married with young children we could rarely afford holidays abroad because of the price increases during the summer months, and now as a single teacher, with only the school holidays available to travel generally, I´m still suffering the expense!

It is now the hour in Spain for thinking about getting ready for a night out.....just after 8.30 pm.

I´ll probably be walking out of the door in a couple of hours, but I´m still not completely used to the Spanish evening timetable.

I haven´t put this in the poetry section of CS because I´m not a poet nor do I wish to submit any poetry.

I´m curious because I think I have quite a simplistic taste and only really discovered this recently when asked to make a recording of a book of poems by a Spanish poet in English. The poems have already been translated so no work there for me but they are in my opinion rather "rebuscadas" or affected, using words which are rarely used today, neither in Castellano nor English.

The dilemma is putting in the approprate feeling and emotion whilst reading it for the recording when I really don´t care for it too much.

Yes of course I will do it...and with gusto, after some practising, because at the end of the day I will be paid for it.

We are all mercenaries in one way or another don´t you think?

Very interesting actually, though I thought I was going to bored to tears.

I was taken on a field trip by some students of mine to a water treatment plant and I was amazed at the different processes involved in order to make our municipal water clean.

The highlight of the visit was seeing the neighbouring lagoons housing endangered species of ducks which the plant has created with the residual water.

I understand and I´m not interested in meeting anyone here so I feel the same. However, I like to visualise who I´m chatting/corresponding with and hope the pic is real, hence my own regular change or update of profile pics.

I don´t think that´s true. The spotlight is always on "fresh meat" or the newbies.

Me too, but it´s a bit dishonest to post only the best pics don´t you think? I´ve posted good and bad pics of mine, the current one being in the bad category, but as I´m not seeking a date here it doesn´t really matter to me what people think of it.

The men I´ve met from here do not look at all like their profile pics.

I update mine regularly but I notice that some keep the same main pic for ages. By ages I mean months rather than years. I´m rather a visual person and I like seeing different pics, both from the ladies and men.

Sometimes though another pic appears to be so unlike the old favourite, which has its good and bad points.

No, not necessarily. There are some people who put up fake pics and play/flirt with people with no true aim of really getting to know someone. If they did then their fake pics or profiles would be rumbled pronto. These are the people members should avoid at all costs, not the trolls who only visit to cause trouble, and are either a source of amusement or an irritation depending on one´s mood.
