I've no idea what "Odotatteko jotakuta" means. So I Googled it. And I still don't know. But I did discover our CS threads are indexed on Google almost instantaneously. Try it yourself.
It's a little disconcerting that NON-members could be reading our Forums.
I agree. Better yet would be regional. Many of the individual state Forums are essentially dead anyway. (It doesn't help that newcomers are directed to the International Forums by default instead of their home-state Forums.)
I don't think an international site such as CS is very convenient for casual-dating purposes. Just my impression, though. It didn't work out that way for me, anyway.
Have you tried the Canada forums? Might get a little closer to home.
Always thought The Ramones wanted to be a pop band to begin with but got clobbered by their own success. Case in point: "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." I love the classic Ramones, anyway. Have The Ramones, The Ramones Leave Home and Rocket To Russia.
Yes indeed, if you're going to be in Venice and you've already seen San Marco & the Doge's Palace & l'Accademia, I Frari should be on your list. In addition to Donatello's St. John, it houses Titian's Assumption of the Virgin and an enormous painting by Tiepolo (the title of which I cannot recall).
Your tale of seeing the Dali exhibit does sound memorable. What a perfect artist to experience such conditions with! Puts me in mind, too...when I was there I saw an exhibit of Arcimboldo housed in a palazzo on the Grand Canal, which was not a museum per se but rather one of those which are usually available for touring as a historical site. It too had a skylight. I wonder if it may have been the same?
A final note on I Frari: when I entered, seeking primarily to view the art, there was a small knot of people all dressed in black clustered by the altar. They were holding a funeral service. It impressed on me that while so many of us visit such places as if they were museums, to the people who live there they are houses of worship, and we should always be sensitive to that. I was glad to have that impressed on me right away.
The Louvre's website offers a very cool 3D virtual tour feature that's worth checking out. At the moment it includes a comprehensive gallery of Jean-Honore Fragonard, not restricted to the works in The Louvre.
You're right about works not in museums. Many noteworthy pieces are displayed elsewhere. I saw Donatello's "St. John the Baptist" in I Frari in Venice, perhaps the most memorable sight (for me) in the whole city.
There's two different bands called The Beat, a US band and a UK group. The latter was obliged to call themselves The English Beat here in the States. I suppose you mean that group?
We're planning a romantic-getaway long weekend in NYC. So I guess the actual meeting will be at LaGuardia Airport. Four days, three nights. Thanks for the suggestion about the flowers, tho. Good idea.
RE: what are u thinking right now?
Morning, T! Any idea how much longer?
