RE: Three of the most difficult questions EVER

1. Love at first sight? No, I honestly don't believe in this because I firmly believe that love....true, full, deep, all-encompassing, God-I-want-him kind of love takes time. Desire at first sight or lust or interest or fascination or intrigue...yes, I believe in these things and have felt them. But LOVE....no. Not for me, anyway...certainty doesn't happen in a glance.
2. Soul mates. Interesting. I believe that we can have soulmates but that does not necessarily mean that we are meant to be together. For example, I have a soulmate now (and I feel this with every fiber of my being) who is far away and whose lifestyle and situation will never meld with mine. This does not mean that we aren't really soulmates; it simply means that circumstances will not complete the puzzle for us. But I cannot think of him in any way other than this...he is my soulmate and I love him and connect with him. We just won't be together, that's all. And I am really ok with this. I almost feel that we are better this way, for neither has to change something or give up something for the other. We just care and love and laugh and emote and bond and relate on a plane that is amazingly free and open and it is a wonderful thing. Others might see this as unfulfilling or lacking in something; I simply appreciate the beauty of what he adds to my life....every smile he brings, every thought-provoking comment he offers...it's all a bonus and he enriches my life, aye these many thousands of miles away.
3. Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? Yes, I think so. I believe so because this is about LOVING, not BEING LOVED by someone. I am glad that I have loved, even though I have experienced tremendous heartbreak when love was no longer enough (as most of us have). But to think that I might have gone through life without loving is just unimaginable to me. What a waste that would be. What a loss to me...and to those who have been on the receiving end of my love (not a conceited comment in the least....don't we all feel special when someone loves us???)

RE: What's in your fridge??....right NOW???

The Coke is for me on a don't give a crap day....the Coke Zero is for me on a "I feel too fat" day!! rolling on the floor laughing

RE: What's in your fridge??....right NOW???

hehe Yeah, I should be out shopping for real groceries instead, eh? Ah, well...pot calling the kettle and all that! hug

RE: What's in your fridge??....right NOW???

Haven't been in my apartment for long, admittedly (about 3 weeks now), so this is not totally indicative of what I might normally have in my fridge, but it's close:
1 carton of orange juice
1 carton of whole milk (small size)
1 carton of low-fat milk (small size...I mix the two when I drink milk)
1 jar of strawberry jam
3 bottles of water
2 bottles of Starbuck's coffee latté or whatever it's called
1 jar of mayonnaise
1 package of ham
2 cartons of cherry yogurt
1 apple
a bag of tangerines from a friend's tree
a container of Kalamata olives
one container of feta cheese
one package of Cheddar cheese
one Coke
one Coke Zero

that's about it.

RE: Whats your occupation???

A NOBODY???? I am a big fan of plumbing and electricity!! Women everywhere (hairdryers in hand) salute you!

RE: Whats your occupation???

I'm glad that you see it that way. It is an occupation that is not without risk. It's been almost a year (Jan. 12, 2007) since the very Embassy I am working in was hit by an RPG...in fact, the area that was hit is about 6 feet from where I now sit. And some of you may remember that I recently returned to Athens after being in Kabul, Afghanistan. I have spent some time in Iraq (2004); U.S. embassies and their employees are popular terrorist targets (Nairobi; Damascus; Tehran, to name just a few); a foreign service classmate of mine was killed when a suicide bomber rammed his truck into the back of the vehicle my friend was in (Karachi, Pakistan); there are so many instances of diplomats around the world being killed, you would be surprised. We serve in war zones but with no weapons. We are indeed serving our country and I am proud to be doing so. It just happens that I also love what I do, so I am doubly blessed.
Thanks, Daniel!
hug

RE: Whats your occupation???

You're right, Daniel...
And I don't mean to imply that I'm apologizing or something, because I absolutely love my job and all of the adventures it affords me. I'm very blessed to be doing something that I thoroughly enjoy and that allows me to see the world and meet people from all cultures and all walks of life. Thank you, taxpayers!!! (I am one, too, of course, so it's not like I'm getting a totally free ride here!...but, thanks, nonetheless!)

RE: Whats your occupation???

Cool. I was certainly hoping that my affiliation with all things diplomatic didn't put you off. Sometimes it's easier to tell people I work in a candy factory than to say I work for the federal government! At least then, all I have to do is produce a box of bon-bons...much easier than having to tell someone I have nothing to do with issuing visas! rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Whats your occupation???

Ahhhh...this is the Detente we have all come to know and love! hug

RE: Whats your occupation???

Either my occupation is sickening to you or you are hoping to convalesce in a warm climate, such as Greece offers.
Hmmmm confused Which is it??

RE: Whats your occupation???

Special assistant to the U.S. Ambassador, Embassy Athens

RE: The Domain of the Working Class.

Very true. And now, this poor idiot's off to bed.
'Night, all!
sleep hug

RE: The Domain of the Working Class.

Interesting question, and I would venture to guess that you are quite right. Why is this, you ask?
I honestly don't know (probably too tired to think at the moment)...let me ask my butler or my chauffeur for their thoughts and have one of them reply to you soon.
Really, I guess it just has to do with lifestyle. Wealthy people have more avenues for social interaction and don't have to be as concerned with the cost of those avenues. It's probably fairly easy to find companionship when your yacht pulls into port in Cannes; not quite as easy when your feet carry you into the grocery store. Dunno.

RE: So If Your older....

My head's going to get as big as yours soon! rolling on the floor laughing
(For those who think I'm being rude, I'm just playing with dear Ambrose, based on an answer he gave in another post)
kiss

RE: So If Your older....

Hi, BEB! I should be sleep sleep sleep now!
Way past my bedtime, but this is so addicting!

RE: So If Your older....

blushing Why, thank you evah so kindly, suh! (Somehow, compliments bring out the Southern voice in me!) blushing

RE: So If Your older....

You had me at the "large limbic brain" portion of your post!
Naughty picture on its way!

RE: whats the most difficult decision you've had to make in your whole life ? and did you get it right..

Hi, Cristina! hug

RE: whats the most difficult decision you've had to make in your whole life ? and did you get it right..

Deciding to divorce, even though I wasn't through loving him yet. But it was the right decision. And, yes, I'm well over it (and him) now. Years have passed and time did indeed heal the wounds.

RE: Do u think its harder to meet people nowadays.. have we become too selfish and complicated?

Very kind of you.... but I'm just voicing my thoughts. Thank you, though! hug

RE: Do u think its harder to meet people nowadays.. have we become too selfish and complicated?

And I wonder if technology hasn't hurt us as social beings....
Our children are seldom outside playing anymore. They don't find a piece of charcoal and draw a hopscotch pattern on a sidewalk...they don't run and play and ride bikes and jump rope with other kids in their neighborhoods. They are indoors in front of the tv or playing video games or, just as I am doing this very moment, sitting in front of a computer for their social interaction. Now, I have a full enough social existence outside of my home; I am not online every night, nor does it get in the way of things I want to do outside of my home. But I worry about our children and where technology is leading them. You ask if people have become too complicated. I think we are becoming LESS complicated, in some ways. Some of our advances are taking us further backward in some respects. I heard someone recently say that she has friends who have never seen her handwriting. This spoke volumes to me. We find it easy to communicate online and to speak our minds and offer our comfort and support and even to disagree. In person, we are not so forthcoming. Could it be that we prefer hiding behind the curtain? Wouldn't we be more likely to be better at meeting people and socializing with others if we actually got out and DID it now and then? I don't know....just thinking out loud here.

RE: What are you looking for from this site?

But mine is for a '75 model and you're looking for one for a '74 model....
crying

RE: What are you looking for from this site?

And I'm trying to sell a seat rail for a '75 BMW 750! Just my luck...so close, but yet so far!

RE: If you got the chance to take one CS Member out on a date...

Darn my luck....you're busy this week but want to get together soon. I'm free this week, but busy soon. laugh
Seriously...you're a cutie and I'm sure a date with you would be a pleasure! kiss

RE: So If Your older....

So where did I lose you? ALMOST had you convinced? I must be slipping! hug

RE: So If Your older....

Yeah, it would do...
Me....baby it??? Surely you must be joking! I'd have it purring and humming and under my control in no time!

RE: So If Your older....

Just this very afternoon.....
Oh...wait....no.....I misread that.....I thought you wrote 100 centimeter windsprints.
(In best Rosanna Rosannadanna voice....Never Mind.)

RE: If you got the chance to take one CS Member out on a date...

Yeah, when you start to list names, you invariably leave some out. For instance, EVERYONE has left me out....which I'm certain was just an oversight on EVERYONE'S part.
crying crying crying

rolling on the floor laughing

RE: So If Your older....

Older...I can likely run faster than they can, so they're less likely to get away! rolling on the floor laughing

Seriously, my ideal situation is somewhere close to me in age. Then again, my ideal car would be a '66 candy-apple red Jaguar XK-E, but I don't seem to manage that, either!

RE: What do you want?. Finish this sentence..
