RE: What is a 'spiritual person'?

hi mindfull

What spiritual means to an individual is personal, I believe on many different levels.

To be spiritual or to be a believer to some are one in the same, to others means something entirely different.

You know IMHO, it doesn't matter if someone is an atheist, agnostic, Christian, Jew, Baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist, Catholic or any other affiliation, anybody can be good or bad and it's no matter of faith or no faith.

I think when I hear someone is spiritual it means they believe in some form of a higher power, whatever that might be.

When someone says they are spiritual, I believe it is a personal acknowledgment of that belief.

The least spiritual acts I've witnessed are the so-called televangelists that get on TV and beg for donations and yet have the most expensive, tackiest, most God-awful, opulent clothing, jewelry and sanctuaries...it's a mockery.

The funniest act by a spiritual person has to be Jesse Jackson getting on TV and spouting off about family morals and Christian behavior and he's one of the worst examples out there, cheater, had a secret child...total and complete hypocrite. JMHO

RE: Whats the point to it?

You're young and very impressionable. Perhaps, what you think is love is not actually love or maybe you fall to quickly, I am an old-fashioned romantic so it is very easy to get hurt.

Learn to love yourself, get to know yourself and start listening to what you want and need, your heart will tell you. Be aware of your gut instincts, watch out for red flags and learn to have fun and keep an open mind about new people.

Someday soon your significant other will find you, but only if you slow down enough to let him.teddybear

RE: Hold on or Walk away?

This is a personal decision that you have to make. If you wait and she's not totally over her ex, it could be bad for you as far as getting hurt. Secondly, if she is unsure of what to do, you should maybe step aside and tell her to figure out her emotions and explore what it is she wants.

As it is, you've had two dates and at this point you can part great friends and not have any real emotions involved, stick around longer and it could all change.

Remember you are good enough to be someone's first choice and at the same time, starting as friends is NOT a bad thing and if it's right it will grow from there. Best of luck to you!

RE: Willis (Sears) Tower, Chicago - THE LEDGE

It's not as bad as you think. I went there over the summer in August, w/ my kids and Mom and we visited the Sears Tower, Skydeck and Observatory. It was a neat experience to stand there and feel as if you're suspended in thin air and just looking down between your legs and seeing how far up in the air you actually are. On the Skydeck you get to feel the cool breeze from Lake Michigan blowing through was very refreshing.

But then again, I am one of those fearless females that know no fear of heights or boundaries...the higher the better, LOVE IT! You should have seen me climb trees as a kid, I was like a monkey and wouldn't want to come down! : )

Chicago is an awesome city to visit, expensive, but so much to do you never get bored. Taxi's are good because otherwise your feet will be killing you by the end of the day. I love going to Chi-town!banana banana banana

RE: Who Created the Marriage Vow Words To DEATH DO US PART?

I think marriage vows and the wording used should have meaning to the two people taking the covenant. I would much rather never say to OBEY, than till death do us part..jmho and beings I can't see myself ever marrying again, I see no danger of either of those things occurring.

RE: No Love at all?

To know exactly what love is, is one of the most profound of all questions.

Love means different things to different people, i.e. love for a parent/spouse and then there is a love for your children that knows no boundaries.

To love, your friend only needs to have a heart and a willingness to do it openly and passionately.

Obviously she had a rough start in her life and she is now questioning why she was given up and abandoned, her inner child is wounded and now her adult self is confused and feels the memory of this pain even now.

Her failed marriages are no reflection on her, just as it was not her fault that her parents and other family members failed her. This is a good example of anybody can have children, but sadly, not everyone is equipped to be a parent.

She needs to forgive her parents for their shortcomings and for the pain they inflicted on her as a child. While it might seem impossible to do that right now, with time and maybe some therapy, she can do it slowly.

Once she has done that, the next step is learning to love herself. Nobody can fully love someone else and feel the beauty and joy of love, without first loving themselves.

Be there for your friend and be her sounding board, you give lots of wonderful advice and have a kind soul, she will benefit more from that than you both can even begin to realize.

I wish her the best and though the road to healing will be long, each day it will get a little easier...comfort

RE: what happened?

I could extrapolate on what my opinion is to the situation, but it is just an opinion nothing more.

I will be very brief here:

1.) We live in an instant gratification society. It's easier to text or email than it is to write a letter or pick up the phone and have a conversation. Which to me translates to mean less actual human interaction=less of a connection between people.

2.) It's easy to play games with emotions on an internet dating site because people can say whatever they'd like. I dare say someone wouldn't be as rude or nasty to another person face-to-face. It's simple to send an email or text message laden with obscenities and negativity and cut a person off without so much as a how you do.

3.) Youngsters are not learning how to properly relate to others with respect, because parents are so afraid to enforce good manners, boundaries and discipline. For some it's easier to rely on a TV and school to raise children than it is to actually get in there and play an active role in their life and teach them responsibility, self-respect and morals.

All of these things I believe combine to make society what it is right now and are the main reasons why SOME (not all) people feel others are so dispensable. JMHO....it would be nice to get back to basic human kindness and to treat others the way we would like to be treated, it really is that simple.

RE: WHAT A SHAME!!!

Hi Movin....tough night for the scammers crowd..all we can do is report and ignore. I hope CS gets some better restrictions put on the people that do this stuff, it's annoying and getting downright ridiculous, but the mods can only do so much when it is just as easy to go and make more "fake" profiles and flood the forums with spam and hate.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening btw..wave everybody.

RE: ARE YOU JELOUS IN A RELATIONSHIP?

I'm the first to admit, I don't share, nor do I play well with others. However, I would also not want to be with a man that felt it was okay to do this sort of thing to a lady either. I would have no problem walking away from someone that would give me cause to be jealous or feel insecure for any reason. It's got nothing to do with MY self-esteem, but more so self-respect, because I am secure enough to know I don't have to be with a mindless, uncaring clod either. JMHO

RE: Ladies post your thoughts

I don't have a list of any preconceived notions about someone I've never met. I go into an arrangement with my eyes wide open and hoping for the best, but that's just my nature.

I think if someone is going to be late on the very first date, a phone call would be nice to show courtesy to the other person. Things happen and unless it is a blatant stand up or the person is extremely late, a few minutes won't make or break it.

RE: The Simple Life

I do a big vegetable garden every year, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, peppers, asparagus, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, and green beans.

Indoors I grow an herb garden all year round.

Love to cook and having child w/ asthma, I do as much organic as I can. Better for me and I love tending the garden, can't have chickens though not allowed in town. rolling on the floor laughing
