It's 'TIL death do us part, I believe! ... and well, I think that is an awfully long time. Personally, I think marriage vows should require renewal every 5 years!!!

i was married over 20 years ago and it was optional - was a catholic wedding - i never had to say it! which in retrospect was a very good thing..

Be it 'in the old days' or today, if a marriage lasts until the death of one party, I would assume that most people would agree that the time together was enough and in the afterlife, both were totally free to run wild in finding another mate before they had to start over on this plane of existence...and possibly go through the hell of another nightmare marriage...

I think marriage vows and the wording used should have meaning to the two people taking the covenant. I would much rather never say to OBEY, than till death do us part..jmho and beings I can't see myself ever marrying again, I see no danger of either of those things occurring.

Marriage is a covenant between two people and god and the vows reflect that, I know what it means to have fulfilled those vows. You are meant to be married to one person , the problem today is people don't take marriage seriously and don't bother to take the time to get to know thier potential mate. Throw away relationships are what people do, what they dont understand is the seriousness of thier actions. There is nothing wrong with the vow till death do us part and anyone who thinks differently, well you really should shy away from them as a potenial mate because they don't know the word commitment.------ This poll is Archived ------
