RE: 22 YEARS YOUNGER....

I think what is meant by this statement is the OP's age versus the age of her male friend. If this young man decided he wanted to have biological children at some point in time, is that going to become an issue?

There are many issues to contend with when dealing with a younger person being with an older person, if it were an older man with a younger woman, she could still have kids.

However, if it's a younger man with an older woman, and the child card comes up....what now? (I know there's adoption, a thousand ways to have a family, I'm just playing devils advocate here.)

RE: 22 YEARS YOUNGER....

If you are having issue w/ the age difference, that's understandable in some situations, but it is only a number and it is only an issue if you choose to make it one.

If the man makes you happy and you enjoy each others company, what's so wrong w/ that?

There has to be more to it than what you've stated here, but only you can decide what's right for you personally. Go w/ what your gut and heart tells you..and be happy above all else.

RE: Have You Ever Had A Bad experience With A Police Officer?

The officer had no rights to search your car w/o your consent and he was wrong to do so because he had no grounds.

Did he give you a citation for anything or did you think to ask for his badge # or information?

If so...I'd suggest filing a report on his conduct alone, that's ridiculous.very mad

RE: Rather worrying dont you agree !

are you really serious???? She's right to do what she did, if someone makes you uncomfortable in any way, it's called a red flag and not simply nit picking and trying to find something "wrong" with other people. Some really do have something wrong w/ them..and if you can't see that, you would do well to be careful because you may fall victim to an unscrupulous scammer or some other type of undesirable..I wish you LOTS and LOTS of luck.comfort

Both of them are lovely, intelligent, thoughtful ladies and their presence was a breath of fresh air in these forums. I, too, hope they both return and if not, wish them the absolute best in life and hope they're happy.teddybear teddybear teddybear

RE: Rather worrying dont you agree !

Sounds like a right creep, you were right to block him. If and when you choose or choose not to discuss YOUR children, is your business and nobody elses, period.

If someone did that to me, I'd tell him where to "get off" and exactly what I thought of his inappropriateness...no excuse for him being rude either, you were right for feeling the way you did/do.

The internet is rife with sicko's and perverts..we, as parents just need to be extra careful and wary of anything that registers red flags.

RE: Hate speech - an internet phenomenon.

I think it's easier to be hateful and abusive to another person on the internet because some people like to be bold and hide behind the security of a computer screen---i.e. cowardly bully!

Some of the abusive things I've witnessed perpetuated on others on the internet would get someone smacked down in real life if they actually had the gall and audacity to say it to a person's face.

Of course, this is as always JMHO.teddybear

RE: Interracial Dating, why is it still hard for people to accept.

I don't know how it is in the UK, but certain areas in the US, like the deep south people will still cast disparaging looks and cast judgment out of ignorance and hatred.

I for one do not care if a person chooses to date someone of another race, it does not affect me, nor bother me at all. If you find yourself attracted to another race that's your preference and nobody should make you feel self-conscious or feel as if you have to explain yourself.

Date whomever makes you happy and just ignore the sideways glances, judgments and comments...be with and love who you want!hug teddybear

RE: feeling of depression....

The OP solicited advice on the forums by making the statement of being depressed.

I don't think Marie was being flippant, uncaring or unhelpful, because she was simply providing how "she" deals with keeping herself in a positive mindset--which the OP may find helpful in some aspects.

Everyone is different and on some level, having suffered in my own ways, I can understand what a challenge it can be to NOT give into the feelings of blue and black.

Depression is a looming monster and when a person does not or chooses not to deal with it, it perpetuates and grows worse in some cases.

For some people, behavioral modification exercises, positive thinking, holistic healing methods and dietary modifications can improve the symptoms...for others with a darker, deeper sense of depression, more needs to be done.

Everyone of us deals with overwhelming emotions and difficult life situations differently, and when the moody blues hits, it can be crippling, frightening and downright horrible.

Just a question---for you though GG, what are your thoughts on the high rates of youth suicide in Ireland? What do you think the reasons or motivations are behind it?

I know in some countries and even here in the US in some places, people with depression are thought of in a negative light and stigmatized if you will--do you think it's because of feeling afraid of reaching out for help and then having to deal with the resulting labels and judgments of others that prevents people from getting treatment? Just curious and meant no disrespect, so please do not take offense, I just have curiosity about it.

OP...I wish you to come through this quickly and hope you can find whatever it is to help you feel better. Depression is a treatable condition and talking about it and working through it, is the only way to bring it under control and if you need professional help, do seek it without delay if you are feeling beyond hope.

RE: feeling of depression....

Hi N_E, there are varying degree's and different types of depression. Yes, some forms can leave a person feeling "total loss"...the best way to handle it is to do something that makes you feel good about you, get out and breath in some fresh air and have some fun.

If it gets overwhelming, you may need to seek some help from a health care provider to work your way through the issues and feel better again.

Hope it doesn't last long.comfort

RE: Please join me in Praying for my Friend

Hi Cyndie--

Saying a prayer for someone is the easiest thing in the world to do and I do truly believe it makes an actual difference--so please accept mine from the heart for your friend and her family.

The insurance co. was way wrong in sending her home too soon--they do it to ppl of all ages, I've worked on both ends of health care, in hosp. and for a major insurance co., both of them stink! Nobody wants to be sick and infirmed, but being shuffled through the hosp. & not getting the right care is how a lot of people wind up with complications and secondary issues.

I pray that your friends mother has the healing hand of Jesus touch her and that she experiences a full and complete recovery! I wish for her to find comfort, peace and solace is granted and they come through this experience with a renewed strength of spirit.

Please keep us informed as to how she is...hope you're doing well too.teddybear teddybear hug comfort

RE: gitmo and torture

He was speaking about the actions of when she grabbed the rifle and started shooting up US soldiers...sick woman!

RE: gitmo and torture

are you really going to feign this nonsense again?? You've read throughout the thread about the lovely array of deadly items this innocent (used in deference to you) woman was picked up with???doh

1.)handwritten notes and
2.) computer thumb drive containing recipes for conventional bombs and weapons of mass destruction
3.) instructions on how to make machines to shoot down U.S. drones,
4.) descriptions of New York City landmarks with references to a mass casualty attack,

and here's the clincher!!!!!! TWO WHOLE pounds of sodium cyanide in a glass jar

What about the blood diamonds she transported for Al Qaeda?

and wait for it..it gets better:

In May 2002, the FBI questioned Siddiqui and her husband regarding their purchase over the internet of $10,000 worth of night vision equipment, body armor, and military manuals including The Anarchist's Arsenal, Fugitive, Advanced Fugitive, and How to Make C-4

the excuse given??? HUNTING AND CAMPING SUPPLIES..yeah, if your targets are AMERICAN citizens..funny right, coincidence right??

and another conicidence, her entire family packed up and said mush camel all the way back to Pakistan..why?? Didn't they feel welcomed anymore?? So sorry...gee, your feelings got hurt, by all means leave.

here's another one Emmaline:

n February 2003, she married accused al-Qaeda member Ammar al-Baluchi, also known as Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, in Karachi. Al Baluchi is a nephew of al-Qaeda leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and a cousin of Ramzi Yousef, convicted of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center

NOW, again, I don't need to have a picture painted for me, to have things written in the sky by an airplane or have it broadcast over the wire....I can see clearly exactly what this woman is and if the shoe fits...well, I'll gladly call a spade a spade...she's a TERRORIST!

RE: gitmo and torture

so are you biased on the side of AI and no other news source can even possibly be correct, am I getting this right?dunno confused

It already held weight in one court, she was convicted already and sentenced to 86 yrs. for the shootings--it's a matter of time before she is charged with other things too...like I said, it's about preparation and gathering the information needed to make a case, which takes time, so no mistakes are made.

RE: gitmo and torture

But AI and CP opposed each other, so if you are working for CP, AI says your organization is a front for terrorist sympathizers and the spirit of AI was compromised by your company's relationship with known terrorists.

And..again, with the chemicals, blue prints and instructions for how to cause "mass destruction," do you truly believe she was on US soil to host a garden party complete with sodium cyanide tea?? Maybe perpetuating another terrorist attack/calamity all in the name of friendship right???

Yeah, that's why her own gov. turned her over to the US for prosecution..but that means nothing right?? Right, because she's just a poor defenseless, Muslim woman that deserves the benefit of the doubt right?? Sorry, I don't concur, too much SOLID evidence to suggest she was a plotting and scheming to do something bad in my country--she gets NO sympathy from me.

RE: gitmo and torture

and here is my answer yet again...

NO, I don't believe in punishing the children for the SINS of the parent/s.

oh and again, for the benefit of others late to the thread:

I don't believe in the systematic torture of INNOCENT human beings.

Is that clear enough?confused
