Seeking Eden

Twisted trees to sky they reach
Where brooks gently wander
Werewolves hunt by dead of night
And vampires live up yonder

It's not a place where I would go
These woods are much too scary
Let me find a sunny place
And I'll happily dance with a fairy

Fairies sweet and kind they be
They dance across the meadow
Laugh and sing their fairy songs
And sleep under yonder willow

So come with me friends one and all
On this travel we'll share the burden
To see on this road what we can find
And together discover Eden

Speed Demons

So now a licence you do have
And on the road we find you
Rules you think do not apply
They only apply to others

Speed signs you think such a joke
The road was made for racing
Look out world, here I come
You scream with pedal to metal

Should a car get in your way
Abuse you hurl at them
Toss a bottle, cut them off
Whatever takes your fancy

What a shame that some of you
Won't live past mid twenties
Mangled wrecks and screams of pain
All that could've been avoided

I See

Your scars you hide them well
On your legs beneath your jeans
And long sleeves hide your arms
Your abdomen crisscrossed
Even your chest bears marks
You hide them well so no-one sees
But I look in your eyes and I see
The pain and anguish within
That you cannot hide

The Battle

Flip the coin, the answer's there
Bat or bowl is the question
Suited up the batsman goes
To face the bowler's fury

Glare at him, the evil eye
And start his mighty run up
Let ball fly at tremendous pace
Must be almost a hundred and fifty

Crack of ball against willow
And shouts of, catch it
Arms outstretched and in the air
The fingers find their target

Excited men mill around
As batsman back to pavilion
One wicket down with nine to go
The battle has just begun

Dead Past

I heard a voice inside my head
It spoke of things long past and dead
Of things undone and sad regrets
Relationships that had gone bad

This voice relentless it can be
And giving one no mercy
Lashes ceaseless day and night
It makes me feel inferior

It brings up wrongs, deeds done
But no answer how to fix them
Past is dead, can't be changed
There's lessons to be learnt there

Full Moon (The Vegan)

Howl...oops maybe I'm howling too loud
After all this is not the woods of home
A concrete jungle all around me
And scary sounds, even for a werewolf like me

Buildings so tall they hide the sky
And the moon, my friend, is barely seen
Muted sounds of distant traffic
I fear the hunting will be poor here

What was I thinking to come here
Thought the big city might be kinder to me
New tastes and new sensations
Better get moving around and see

I slink down alleys dark and dreary
Rubbish left piled up everywhere
And rats so big they could be cats
Those mongrels challenge me

Me a werewolf young and proud
From a pack of rats I'm running
I swear these rats are not normal
There's something strange, their eyes are glowing

This horde from hell is right on my tail
Ducking left, right, left down alleys
Can't keep up this pace, will soon collapse
And finally start to lose them

I ran and ran till main street beckoned
And Hell's horde left far behind
Around the edges of light I skirted
Trying to find my way back home

Cross the field and down the highway
Never stopping once to eat
Thought of meat now makes me nauseous
The lifestyle of Vegan sounds good to me

Monorhyme

Rover the dog sat under the tree
On top of him sat the flea
Together they wanted to go to sea
They had to wait till there was three
Rover asked the flea would you like tea
To which the reply was if it is free
Just then landed a honey bee
And Rover went down on one knee
Now three we are there's no admission fee
Off they went singing and shouting whoopee

Intertwined

Sounds of thunder sounds of pain
Sounds of children playing in the rain
Sounds of war, guns firing, people dying
High in the sky coloured kites are flying
Bodies mangled, dying and dead
Teachers teach kids to get ahead
Screams of pain that pierce the air
Mother and baby asleep in armchair
Streets stained with blood of innocents
Classes are full of bright eyed students
People praying to God above
Young couple, arm in arm, professing love
Face down dying on foreign ground
Joyful laughter of games in playground
Save me Lord, please save my life
Please Lord protect innocence, keep away strife

Journey

Travelling cross this country wide
Cross barren desert sands
Flooded plains and rivers burst
Will not put a stop to me
Onwards travel to find what I seek
And seek I continue to do
One day I hope that journey's end
Will find me there with you

Full Moon (The Next Generation)

I love to feel the wind through my fur
As I race through the woods to hunt
Howl at the moon, I feel so bold
Let the world know that I'm coming

They shake with fear, in their houses hide
They know I will show no mercy
A goat here or a sheep there
Is all part of my diet

Not really that keen on human flesh
Too much of it is pickled
But should they get in my way
I will happily kill and eat them

Now poor old Gramps sits at home
Warming his hide by the fire
Long gone are his days of hunting
He's just a gummy old werewolf

Now Dad he's weird, don't understand him
Since when does a werewolf turn Vegan
Mother said it might have been the fright
When they managed to nearly kill him

I can smell the odour of goat in the air
And hunters trying to trap me
When will they learn I'm much too smart
For any of their silly trickery

Quietly sneak round, behind the hunters
Fly through the air snarling and growling
They screamed and ran, what a sight
I rolled on the ground laughing

Now what is this, a juicy goat
Left tied up here, just for me
With one quick slash and mighty bite
I settled down to enjoy dinner

With tummy full I best head home
Before the sun is rising
Life is good for a werewolf
Who's young and strong and fearless

Thoughts Accrued

Thoughts accrued in mystical dew
Sheep and cattle led to slaughter
Sister drinks with son of nephew
Blessed by priest with holy water

One by one they're put in order
Sitting, standing, laying, rolling
Roses planted along the border
Time at night is time for strolling

Moon comes out from hiding place
Sends the message bright and clear
Looks down earth with smiling face
It is here this brand new year

Mary and Me

Mary and me sat down for tea
Invited the cat and a fat flea
Knock on the door, it was a frog
Asked to join in, he'd brought some grog
Next was a dog, he came from next door
But then it got scary, next came a wild boar
Then an elephant from the zoo down the road
Driving a Ford arrived a big toad
Now you can imagine how crowded this was
Especially when a shark came flashing his jaws
I looked at Mary and she looked at me
We need to get out of here we both did agree
Then and there without much ado
We left our home which had become a zoo

About this poem:
Unless you want to be inundated by animals don't invite that blasted cat and her fat flea. We never did get the house back. At last count there was seven hundred and sixty two animals living there. We now live in a tree house.
