DATING or SOCIAL SITE
This is an open blog seeking thoughts and opinions about what CS is really all about.It is advertised as a dating site with many other features.
But I ask, isn’t it really just a social site with some dating features.
Just as Facebook and Twitter are social sites. There has been success in some from those sites getting together and dating, even getting married.
Let’s break down what makes a social site.
A social site is a place where people can meet and make friends through communication over the World Wide Web. Where games, puzzles, communication publicly or privately, a collection of members that can interact in so many different ways, A place where people can meet and share life experiences and make new friends as well as catch up with friends they haven’t seen for a while, Somewhere they can post pictures and tell stories, tall and true, A place where people can interact on a daily basis. Isn’t this CS?
What is so different between CS and Facebook, Twitter, even LinkedIn or any other social networking site?
Should we just consider CS a dating site that offers more than other dating sites, or should we view it as a Social Site that offers more than other Social Sites?
Advertisers are equally important to both Social Sites and Dating Sites, or do advertisers pay more because a site specialises in Social networking or Dating?
How many Dating sites allow debate about various topics such as Capital Punishment, Religion, Same sex marriages and so forth? Yet social sites encourage this type of interaction.
How many Dating sites have extras such as a poets corner, forums, blogs, face puzzles, photo ratings and so on? Yet Social sites have all these.
I could go on and on and on, but I really would like all those out there in CS land to give me their view/opinion.
WHAT DO YOU THINK CS IS REALLY ALL ABOUT?
I may not be able to quickly respond to all comments, but i would really appreciate as much feedback as possible.
I will be back to add my thoughts a little later.

I think it is a combination of both.
From what I can tell, a lot of members on here are not too quick to find new partners....for whatever reason (maybe something that happen in their past). But, as they socialize with people, they begin to get a deep understanding and feeling of these people. And who knows, maybe one day a meaningful relationship would spawn from that.

what you say can and does happen on other social sites as well.
I wonder if the advertising revenue would be lower for CS if it was to sell itself as a social site.
Advertisers may think it is not as good as FB or twitter and because Cs promotes itself as a dating site, they can extra advertising dollars because they offer more than dating sites?
Just a thought.
BUT...................
you are a member here and openly state that you have a partner.
So that means your here for the social side of things.
Where as the other social sites also have had people meet and form relationships and even marriage.
I appreciate your opinion and it is valid, but deep down, me thinks this is just a social site.
I wasn't in a relationship when I joined here, I took a break from that relationship , I met someone special here right away...things were great till some changes happened...
So it's a dating site for me primarily...

Just because you dont play the games on here doesnt mean others dont.
Some here even write poetry, create face puzzles, play the games and so on.
I am not saying it is not a fun site, but asking should it not be advertised as a social site instead of a dating site.

This is what one can say defining a thing.
Sometimes definition does not match with the site output.
But we can define it by the result (i.e. how people are responding to this site and on which corner they are involved, etc).

Even this site name has defined its purpose and its targeted groups. It cannot be as similar as Facebook which has wider approach than this site.
lately abt 6 months I met someone and in relationship with him now and soon will meet in person... now my account is join account with him so he knows what's going on in my profile. nothing to hide. he regularly checking my profile, even changing the photo profile as per him.

As far as not wanting friends or family to know your here, Thats why fake profiles and pictures often dominate this site.

I agree with what you are saying,
Although you hope to find a future partner, one that deserves your affection, in the meantime you admit you are not here for dating, only to participate in rading and writing blogs, so you are using this as a social site.
On the flip side, i am single, but old.
I do not want people to think i am saying this site is bad, but trying to understand what it really is.
I understand what you are trying to say and whilst i think you could be correct, this site has a world wide audience just as facebook does, it offers many of the same things as facebook, facebook even offers a dating page called zook i think, so the similarities between CS & FB close.
Yes this site has and will continue to work for some as a dating site.
BUT
is that all this site really is just a dating site.
Or is more a social site with a dating part?
When you consider the amount of bloggers as well as forum people, there are many that are just here to socialize.
Some even like to cause trouble.
Congratulations on finding a person you can love.
I as well as others are very happy for you.

if you have found love and even share accounts now (which the mods might not like so shhh) why do you stay, is it so that you can stay in touch with those that you have made friends with, maybe write a blog, maybe write poems,

This blog is only seeking opinions/thoughts.
But I'm glad you stopped by and shared your opinion.
All the dating sites i've been on, this is unique in that is has a blog area...I only come on here to say a few one liners and wind people up that are easily wound up. I sometimes find this site to serious and it needs some light hearted stuff as all this religion and trying to get people on board the jesus train does my head in.
Some here are lonely, not alone but lonely, maybe don't get out much and find comfort here. Id say its both dating and social with some good debates, which is what i like.
I know I won't find a women on here, so i'm not here for dating anymore. Im happy single, less agro.
yes we are what we write and others can judge our personalities by what we write.
I would say most bloggers and those on the forums are here for the social aspect. And if they happen to find love that would be a bonus.

It really does depend on what the individual wants to get out of such a site.
then my friend that is the ladies loss. How dare anyone think you're a player or rude.
Simmo, if you believe it or not. The first time when I came into CS I was searching for a close relationship with an Australian guy, without any further plans in my head. It worked out well for many months, but something happened in his life and he suddenly didn't write back again. When both feel close, this hurts quite badly. Now I have met friends here from all over, and I am not searching for a close connection meanwhile. The friend level is enjoying for me now.
When I joined, it was purely for dating reasons, I didn't know about the forum or blogs. There is a big Irish membership, and it's not a problem, to get lots of NSA off here. I'm not interested in that, have blocked mail and date in RL.
I think that the vast majority doesn't even know they exist.

i guess when we all joined CS it was for dating purposes. Then we explore the site and find all these other things we can do.
If memory serves me correctly i think it was myself that got you more involved in the blogs.
i have to say that you do bring wisdom with you to the blogs.
