Sudden work trip

Off to Cape Town for 10 days tomorrow

Not a holiday, I’ll be stuck in the office most of the time. Normally I’d spend free time with the team on the spot but this time I’m going in to find out who had their hand in the cookie jar.

I know Natal and Gauteng well but haven’t spent much time in the Cape. Suggestions? Anyone know how to get hold of Cat?

You're going to the very best part of SA. Go to the winelands, up Table Mountain and onto the beautiful white beaches. Take loads of sunscreen, it's as hot as hades over there

Climbing Table Mountain is on the list too. Sounds like we're just going to miss each other, that's a shame (not flirting, not flirting) and aye, I was told hotter than I'm used to. Bring it on!

The chumming that's done to attract the sharks brings them closer to the shore. There's a theory that it's the reason for the shark attacks in the past couple of years

She's potty about sharks, thinks they are beautiful. There's an aquarium thing here on the Forth Road bridge where you can walk through a glass tunnel and see them swimming around but that's not close enough

Personally I like them the further away, the better.

I do wish I had a job that would send me to South Africa

even Cape Town. And don't get cross, Un, I'm a Natalian, I don't know much about the Cape either! Although the wine route is awesome, that mountain is a hot and sweaty climb, I know that.

Eleg, I'm from Joburg. We holidayed in CT when I was young and my parents moved to CT about 20 years ago. I@m sorry now that I never lived in CT, it's just so beautiful..and so much to do!

I couldn't agree more...the further away I am from a shark, the better, thanks. They look evil!

It's hellishly hot there at the moment. I'm putting my trip off until it's a little cooler but I'm feeling quite homesick at the moment. Bloody wind and sleet and -6 degrees here yesterday did it

I will...in about 3 weeks' time

38-40 degrees is too much for me now.

It's lousy here at the moment, storm after storm. I always feel a bit bleak at this time of year. I need a holiday home in the Med!

I am near Cape Town at present and won't recommend trying to climb Table mountain in this heat. I don't know Cape town well enough to know what places are best to visit but even getting lost in Cape town can be good as it is a beautiful city. Hope you have a lovely time here.
