I heard a rumour...

That they are putting dog food into the meat pies, the baker reckons he's been doing it for years. And he also reckons he never washes his hands after backing one out, because nobody has complained so far.

The Dust Bowl & Mom!!

I am currently reading a book about the Dust Bowl of the early 1930's in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

It's a sad sad story about the "Anglo-Saxon" immigrants who in the late 1880's from Germany, Britain and other places came into the area mentioned above. The U. S. Government under Herbert Hoover removed all the American Indians and the Mexicans that had lived in those areas for centuries and placed them into terrible conditions and localities.

Within 50 years they had overplanted and raped the land with tractors and horse drawn plows so badly that when the drought cycle hit around 1930 it was so devastating that it completely ruined the agriculture in that area. The rainless seasons and high winds built clouds of dust laden with so much top soil from the parched land that some storms contained tons of dust that were the ranchers worst nightmares! And there were many of these dust storms.

The story is extremely sad how the Mexicans and the Indians were mistreated and any Black people wandering through. But when the unexpected drought hit the farmers they were completely at a loss and they suffered completely. They died from dust pneumonia and other dust borne ailments and were practically wiped out by the middle 30's.

One of the characters whose story just about covers the whole book and the family problems tell about how one of the son finishes high school and is the class salutatorian. After he received his diploma he gave it to his Mom and when she asked her son why he replies; "...you are smarter then me"! Or close to that.

Tim Egan is the author and the name of the book is "The Worst Hard Time"! That line really swelled the tears and made my throat sore. I recommend it to all.

If you become involved with drugs.

This is what will happen. You might need to turn the volume right up.

Even old people

Even old people get their hearts broken.
The hurt seems to remain as severe as when I was in my twenties
So, I make the assumption that love is no different.

Toyota Fortuner 2.7V TRD - White

For around 120Kms per day drive in city roads, do you think this car will be good for about 5-7 years?

If not, which one would you recommend for similar price?

Road rage

I have recently started driving again since I brought my new car in January. I have since rediscovered a tiny little thing called road rage.mumbling

I have to admit I have serious road rage. Don't let my appearance fool you, I can cuss like a pirate if I get really upset. I am not shy when it comes to using my horn. I keep wondering if some of these drivers brought their license instead of paying for them.frustrated

Thank God I only live 10 minutes from my office! Even though this is the case I go to the office early to avoid the traffic.
I tell my vice president when she asks why I arrive so early at the office that I worry that I would cuss out another driver for their driving then go to a meeting to a potential client and it is the same person I cussed out.sigh

So I will continue to avoid the early morning traffic and go to the office early.

Have a Terrific Tuesday and avoid the crazy drivers out there!

i have a bedroom

it is part of a house built in 1868. it has a bay window that allows the sun to pour in. the walls are painted a muted teal. the walls still have the arms for lamps that once lit the space with gas lights. i use the arms now to hang hats. the ceiling has a variety of cracks in the plaster. i lay on my bed and look up, remarking to myself that it looks like a giant map, would never fix it. in the center of the ceiling is an original light fixture in a medallion shape with flowers. the floor is original dark wood that creeks with every step. my room talks to me.

i've furnished the space with an eclectic combination of a dresser that once belonged to my brother, an antique dresser, a queen ann chest of drawers, an oak captain's bed, 2 vintage bureaus and an artist's drawing table. a gal can't have enough drawers, (wink).

there are red, sheer window treatments embroidered in gold that frame the windows that compliment the walls and my bedding's mood changes with my mood. i have several options for the seasons, light and cheery for summer and warm and cozy colors for frigid nights.

let's not forget the red candles and nicknacks collected from my stays in California, Colorado and Minnesota. my bedroom holds secrets that i revisit in dreams.

some or most would consider my bedroom cluttered or too colorful. i love it and would never strip my room of myself.

People on CS are uniquely narcissist????

Wrong or right?
Many, having inherent slave mentality, may question me that I should better ask or raise the issue in forums etc.
First and Foremost, it relates to blogs and the bloggers. I can't agree to your( or if it's site owners') idiocy that all questions must be raised in the forums.
I think issue must be jurisdiction based.
I don't nagate that platform, i.e. forums, but I don't belong to them. Not that I didn't try, but I find people there behaving timidly.
One liners' scholars is a stupidity though, but why should I question it, if I do, then I must be a stupid.
Should I repeat wrong or right?

I've just bought myself

a very tasty doughnut wow

Its 9.30 in the morning here and I have become quite vexed as to what time is best to enjoy such a fine pastry..
Would it be best had with tea at 11.
After soup at 1.
Or with evening coffee while watching the news at 6 dunno

Such decisions are hard to make on an empty stomach sigh
