BadlyDrawn

Hodgepodge

I was on YouTube and watching videos on everything from art/guitar building to DIY rhinoplasty when I looked in the 'related' column and saw "WORST art restoration fails" with this thumbnail

Does anyone remember this? I thought it was sad at the time and wondered if I could do much better. I wasn't a very good artist and I'm still not an artist, but I am getting better. Anyway, I thought I'd take a shot and see how my attempt might compare. What say you?

“Love” and settling even if you don’t realize it

Ever notice that?
Like being in love makes certain shortcomings seem unimportant. Love seems to eclipse flaws in a coupling

Only after a relationship is over do we notice things that we wouldn’t tolerate from those we “like”.

I can’t be the only one who wakes up alone and finds it so much less depressing than being with a parasite.

“Love” brainwashes, making us compromise our better judgement. There is no judgement while in “ Love”. This leads me to understand it wasn’t love at all.

Then we must figure out , what is real love?

And then thoughts like: the sex wasn’t that great after all. Maybe that’s why I thought I was frigid.

Then you see your ex with someone else and think how could it last? Are there others more patient than I? Is that possible?

And I see how easily the ex goes from interest to interest with no shortage of fools

Now I think I won’t put any thought or energy into the idea of love. Decisions made under the influence of such a mistaken state of mind have left me lost.

What I thought I knew, I do not. Now I prefer to remain single with good sex. Waking up alone, unconcerned with an other’s mental problems gives me such peace.

My boat rests in still waters after being tossed about, almost capsizing. The source of the storm is gone. Wreckage to follow on other seas

I wasn't going to blog but

Jesus christ, must everything be about Trump? I could say something completely random and someone will find a way to mention Trump. It's f*cking ridiculous. It's mind blowing. And my Facebook feed has so much pro/anti Trump crap that I'm at risk of missing the cute cat videos.

Vauxhall Zafira Car Fires

UK specific. Only affects right hand drive models. In Ireland it's the Opel Zafira.
The Vauxhall Zafira B (2005-2014) has a fault which can potentially turn the car into a fireball. Despite being featured on Watchdog and ITN news, there are people who are still unaware of the problem. If you, or someone you know has one of these models, you need to book it into a Vauxhall garage for inspection. If you can just help spread the word around, that would be a big help. Thanks.

A poem about being old, for Ten

I comply, flexibly, like a willow
He sweeps me over with gentle hands
As if I am water, soft waves pushed
I am his doll, for him to play with
I trust him beyond the furthest point
I move closer to the other side of the world
I feel him, I hear him, I smell him, I savor him
As a new bud savors the sun, this vintage rose does still bloom

a poem

it's almost a summer's night
the green has populated the barren earth, extending
vines, curling and crawling
unkempt weeds are blooming, falsifying beauty
while the flowers are still birthing from stems, growing
there is the cold incense burning, under rays, spreading
cut grass, glowing, in nostrils, flaring
it's almost a summer's night
premature improvements, anticipating
gatherings, of friends, outdoors, beers pouring
fires burning, meat cooking on coals, glowing
smoke delivering, making mouths water, noses sniffing
windows open, revealing indoor sounds, outdoors
bare legs are vulnerable to razors and bugs, biting
it's almost a summer's night

Drive-By-Wire...

My first car had a steering wheel that was directly connected to universal joints that linked to the wheels. By the third car, I was driving rack and pinion for the steering system. That connected the steering wheel to a set of gears that controlled the wheels. Maybe my fourth or fifth car had power steering... a hydraulic pump that supported the steering system making it easier to turn the steering wheel, especially if you were trying to parallel park.

My current car doesn't have conventional power steering. Instead, the steering wheel connects to an electric actuator that simulates the hydraulic system. While it feels like you're turning the steering wheel connected to the tires... you're not.
It's a series of sensors, motors and actuators as an electro-mechanical system that replaces the linkages and hydraulic pump.

While we're at it. The gas pedal used to have a flexible cable that connected to the carburetor. When you pressed on the gas, it opened the throttle valve allowing gas and air into the engine. Yeah, it's gone now. The gas pedal has been changed over to a sensor with the feel of a conventional system. It now sends digital impulses to a computer that controls servos that open and close the fuel and air mixture.

Don't stop me now... laugh
Brakes? The pedal that used to be directly linked to a hydraulic pump had been replaced and a sensor giving you the feel of brakes and it does this electronically.

For the most part, it's all been engineered to work similar to cars of yesteryear with fewer components.
Drawbacks are many. If you have a dead battery, pushing the car to get started, doesn't work. If you happen to turn off the key while driving... a word of warning... don't. There's a good chance steering could freeze making it impossible to navigate.

wow!

i'm needing a swag lamp to light my stair landing. i've been leaving the kitchen light on so i can see the steps. i thought, since i have a fondness for retro, i would check out ebay. holy smokes! there are some pretty ugly swags going for a premium. we're talking north of $150.00 with $25.00 shipping. no dice.

i'm going to keep a $20.00 in the glove box in case i see a garage sale or thrift store. there's money to be made!

What is our breaking point?

Just asking. For me, to finally have electricity restored and to have a storm leave me in the dark. Thank heavens for cell phones and flashlights

a blog about stuff

first, i would like to say, i write what is on my mind. if i am stressed about bills and utilities, it is because that is what is on my mind. i tried writing the encouraging blogs about flirting and romance, but, if you read any of the blogs, they are mostly about human atrocities or Trump.

i do try to entertain or show that even though life is tough, it is possible to continue, even with hardships. if this comes off as pathetic, that is your interpretation.

i like men. i like women. i know myself to know that i'm not cut out for a long term relationship. this doesn't mean i want no relationships. i try to find a balance. what works for me may not work for you. FWB seems to work for me. i'm flighty and like my solitude unless there is, shall we say, a weekly time when I may become a union with the male.

i like to be honest. it saves a bunch of time. of course, things may change. life is flux. i try to hold to the essentials, treat others the way i want to be treated and if i am mistreated, i will return the favor in multiples.

i am cash poor but not word poor. have at it, folks.
