Don't even cry!

Oh, I shall go, as so many have gone,
Who knows what destiny is holding for us?!
For nothing I would ask you me reproach,
Instead don't grieve for me, don't even cry.
I followed wind and rain in their wake,
Shared grief with willows as they weep,
If I have failed and couldn’t cope with gale,
If I have failed, succumbed to ill-starred reefs,
Oh then I doubt you'll await me back,
So, please, do not disturb this lonesome willow,
Don’t let your eyes fill with the tears so sad,
Don’t wonder why the rain is crying, for what reason.
Oh I shall go, as so many have gone,
Who knows what destiny is holding for us?!
For nothing I would ask you me reproach,
The rain will grieve for me instead, don't even cry…

Translation from a Georgian poet.
In remembrance of a friend of mine who several years ago succumbed to a deadly disease and the indifference of man she loved more than her life!

My Guitar's Rubaiyat

I take up my guitar;- full of blue promise,-
As I remember you;- how much I miss;-
To find a chord,- (a favorite of mine);-
And strum down soft and think of first love's bliss.

As I work my way across the blues scale,-
Notes caress the air in sound's subtle veil;-
(In what was just before a hollow box);-
And maybe in the next world love won't fail?

I'm not drinking tonight;- my head is clear;-
When desire is gone,- there's neither love nor fear,-
(I used to drink alone most ev'ry night);-
To dream the dream of you;- when you were near.

Well,- love is true,- and love there still remains,-
In ashes now;- burnt by an old flame;-
(Caress of blues;- that now softly turns to jazz);-
I tell myself that first love's cut can heal again.

Many loves have come and gone;- yet there are none;-
That set as true in night as first love's sun;-
None I remember were as true as ours;-
My heart transported,- as my hand doth strum.

If tears were left,- then maybe I could cry;-
And lose my disappointment to the sky;-
(As jazz turns to blues,- then softly back again);-
If for just one night, you would now with me lie.

Though over time your memory doth fade;-
It's all I have;- the memories we made;-
As each new chord hangs softly in the air;-
This I recall;- as each blue note is played.

The New Girl

Who is the new girl
Where can she be
Who is the new girl
That will take away her memory

I'll keep watching
For her to come along
As the story of Frankie and Johnny
Is just a fading song

Who is the new girl
Where can she be

I'll keep driving on a two lane highway
I'll go walking on a hiking trail
Someday I'll see her as she comes my way
And then there will be a new love story to tell

To those who venture

Sad is the fate of rose that shed and lost its petals,
We contemplate a wilting of a life that’s passing by,
If only we could know where fate would take us,
Much more would be revealed to our mind’s eye.
If only we could see through heavy mist and haze,
We‘d easily imagine love as cruel and hurting.
We wouldn't fail foreseeing what's the end,
Should wisdom ever told us that we’re erring.
We would be cautious, thinking more than twice,
Had we an inkling of the agony we‘re about to bear,
That endless suffering would be in store for us,
Wise is a man who won't be tempted and bewares.
No matter how uneasy you should feel, just dare,
You’re face to face with love, succumb and bear.

real

I remember you
I think from somewhere
where beach and wood meet
it rained and rushed our day
it was one of the only times
you ever laughed
carelessness before it was externalized
you showed me a jar
its glass shone on your only peace
that night and forever on
I remember you
I think I always knew you
or was it
I remembered me
from your form
now only pictures
of things no longer real

confined

I wonder if she feels a twinge of pain
when I think of her
sometimes she is a heartless thief
though somehow a soul
in all its beauty
for she only robbed what she gave
knowing that her eyes
will never have that same look for me
her heart's vulnerability
turned to stone
can that statue crumble in time
will the light of the long night wane
can we ever be
free again
once having known nothing but
each other's confines

Unfaithful

He tries to kiss away her tears
That flow like rivulets of melted lead
To her pillow.

Inconsolable the salty flood
Courses wetly down the
Anguished aspect of her face -
As she cries out her sorrow.

For he has been unfaithful
(She knows it, though she hasn't proof).
She shoves him rudely away
To sleep in a separate bed;-
And they will part tomorrow.

the resigner

clouds go by the eyes
that used to stare restlessly
as their sun comes
so goes their rain
jaded memories like rainbows
once again
the thing thought unreal
lies wasted as false
prophetic words
maybe passive aimless wandering
through life's empty fields
will ply small treasures from the ground
will this one be seen or tripped on?
or thrown in the face
of the other eyes
that once found peace in clouds
all the same
their gray came from the soul behind them
and no sun can hide
their weariness
their resignation

THINGS PAST

Wish I could say again that you were mine
Till time when I have paid my dues and left
To dwell in peace far from the place of strife,
Till all my suffering has stopped, till I am dead!

I think of all mistakes and blunders with regret,
How we’d be getting on if not so wide asunder,
Would more remorse and pain our life beset
Had our love survived that blow, I wonder.

And what has come to our pledge to love?!
Love was to last for lifetime till we’re gone.
Back, bear and sustain throughout the life,
Love was to take, but was to give much more.

No matter how unfortunate our love,
Its memories remain and stay with us!

Don't trust him, sometimes yourself,

Don't trust him, sometimes yourself,
When return I have wanted home.
The one who has thrown this house once,
But again it is knocked under your window.

In what love inconceivable sense
Love not a lodge old idle time.
Whose walls can be bleached anew,
And every time to glaze a window.

Love as fantastic palace,
The fairy tale and to the palace the end has disappeared.
The love is the base monolith,
Will crack, the palace won't resist.

Don't trust him, sometimes yourself,
When the fugitive asks home.
There where ruins in ashes and in blood,
How to revive the palace of former love?
