Music and its message

Within the last few months I have been studying and practicing meditation. A lot of what I do is listen to mediation music. Awhile back I stated how music is the universal language and that is believed by many.

All of the meditation music I listen to do not have any lyrics, it is all musical/digital type of music that when in mediation state, is absolutely beautiful. For a lot of our music, the songs with lyrics, for it to be popular, it has to connect with the people who are listening to it. The words need to be something people can relate with. At least, this is what I recall hearing some time ago.

I believe it is true, we need to relate to the lyrics. There are songs where the lyrics remind us of a past lover(s), remind us of something that did not go right with our past, remind us of our parents, etc, etc.. These songs ultimately stimulate our emotions. They might make us sad, they make us happy, they might make us want to go out and party, etc., etc.. Basically, when these songs stimulate our emotions, that leads to our mood being stimulated, which then leads to our behavior being stimulated. Don't get me wrong, this does not "always" happen....but what I am saying is it can happen and does happen once in awhile. More so for some and less for others.

IF what I said is true, is this some sort of mind control? The reason why I bring this up. I find listening to music while meditating is much more beautiful than many sounds that contain lyrics. The lyrics in some songs are actually distracting....in my opinions. After all, when we are out at the night club dancing, we are only dancing to the music. Is the attitude some people have developed from the lyrics?

I know when Britney Spears was the top singer, there were a record amount of baby girls named Britney. I would be very curious to know what type of music some of these mass shooters enjoyed listening to.

Just some food for thought.

Astral Projection

Has anyone here ever tried Astral Projection? One is supposed to be able to have out of body experiences. You are boundless on where you can go. They say you can even travel the galaxies, talk to gods, and much more. All of this, with no drugs involved. lol

Who should travel?

Let's say, for example, two people live 3 1/2 hours apart. Who should travel? We live in a modern world. Figured I would toss that out there. :)

Disappear?

How does a jet plane carrying over 200 passengers just disappear? This is day five, and still no sign of where it is. You would think with technology today, there would be transponders that would give indication of its whereabouts? They say there was a transponder, but it was not working or it was turned off. What?

This whole ordeal is hard to believe, given we live in the 21st century.

Love

There has been a lot of talk on here about love. I was just thinking about it and I want to throw this out there to see what you folks think.

Is love just a mirage? We are told it exist, we have a difficult time explaining what it is and what it means to us. Is it possible we are told love exist for some sort of reason? Even when you feel you are in love, are you really? Or, are those just your emotions of infatuations you are labeling and believing as the feeling of being in love? Personally, I really do know now but I would be very interested in hear what you think.

I know I would love to think love exist. :)

Is it really?

Is it really better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all?

I think to have loved and lost that people would suffer strong emotional pain when the initial phase of the losing starts. From what I understand, true love never really goes away. The emotional pain of losing somebody you love may subside with time but it always seems to creep up within you from time to time. Also for some, maybe all, you wonder what went wrong. Which in itself, is another form of suffering.

I would think if you have never loved, you would not need to go through the suffering. For those of you that have never been in love, is there a yearning you feel inside? If so, that might be a form of suffering.

Maybe neither of the two are better than the other?

I bring this topic up because I heard that statement in a song, and I wondered to myself is that saying really true?

I was watching Irobot

For those of you who have not seen it, robots turn against humans. It got me thinking (maybe too much :), what if computers or the internet were manipulated against humans. Think about how much we rely on them.

Your favorite food or dessert

Mine is a chocolate frosted brownie. grin I mean, I can be ridiculously full and if I discover that place serves brownies, I am at least trying it. You know...not all brownies are the same and your personal stamp of approval has to be put on it. laugh

Has this ever happened to you?

I was up north visiting my family and friends for the Christmas holiday. I was in a poker tournament at the local casino. Out of nowhere, I hear my name being called. I turn and look and there is a guy I have never seen before, or at least I do not remember seeing him before. I am like, hey man, how are you doing? laugh I really have no clue who this guy is. He knows everything about me. How is the business going? I heard you were going to law school. How is life down state? I am thinking to myself, who the he** is this? I thought about asking him his name but did not want to insult him. He knew so much about me, I felt guilty that I did not even know his name. He even offered me a piece of chicken out of his food basket.

It has been a month now and I still do not know who he was. It is frustrating not to know. Maybe I should have asked who he was.doh

reduction in hand-writing and effects to us??

I was just laying down and out of nowhere this question came to me....weird, I know. What is even more weird, I had to get up and post this blog. laugh

I remember hearing on the news, not too long ago, some schools were considering doing away with teaching children how to write. If you think about it, handwriting is not really used all that much anymore. The thought of the schools doing away with it kinda made me concerned. If we did not know how to write, we would solely be dependent on machines to communicate.

This question does not really have to do with how we communicate; but rather, how writing may have had an impact on how we are as a person and how doing away with writing may have an impact on change who we are.

I am left-handed and knew that the right side of my brain was used more than my left, by default because I am left handed. Through the years I have learned that our brain might be one brain but it has two distinct sides. Each side is responsible for different functions. For example, the right side of the brain is used more with intuition, visualization, and is more feminine. Whereas the left side of the brain has to do more with verbally communicating. I am sure each side is responsible for more than just that. But for this question, I think what I have given is ample example.

The question is: If we do away with writing, as most of us probably have, with the use of keyboards. Do we by default start using both sides of our brain more, making us a more enlightened person? When we write, we only use one hand essentially exercising only one side of our brain. When we type, we use both hands, exercising both sides of our brain.

HMMM??

Hope

If you are non-religious, do you believe in hope? It is said that a non-religious person is more susceptible to having evil creep in.
