Hope

If you are non-religious, do you believe in hope? It is said that a non-religious person is more susceptible to having evil creep in.

Good evening. I don´t know Who on earth gave you that idea???doh
The same as with "Evil" is only a matter of perception coloured by upbringing.

It is said that "Religion is for those who believe in Hell, and Spirituality for those who have been in it".

I'm a non-religious person but I do hope that the snow melts soon so I can travel.

I do hope that I'll live long enough to see any Grandchilren.

I'm hoping the wars will end soon.
"Religion was invented by man and not by any God, to have control over mankind"....
Well said Hanz.thumbs up handshake
@ Minerva88 - Obviously you too agree, Girl..... grin hug wine
i don t believe in any god thumbs up
I know that quote that Jarred wrote only he beat me to it...thumbs up
I also agree with Ekself here.hug
when i was a child my life was very hard i did see many wrong things in this crazy world people creating a god for hope and faith cheers
hans, great commentscheers and I do get it wrong sometimeslaugh cheers respect
hans, great commentscheers and I do get it wrong sometimeslaugh cheers respect
in times of hardship and distress everyone has hope, its part of the human condition.if you give up on hope you give up on life.and no group can lay claim to having the ownership on it.
Well Jarred what is wrong t=with that then? If God is created for hope and faith, those are the two supreme ingredients to make our lives within acceptable level of balancing it? Well. I don't speak for others but for me, I will never regret that I was taught with all the humility of a believer, and none of it for is arrogance, which I can see all over, including but not limited to this place and I am guilty, myself once in a while. so there you go jarred. think of what life was before and after religion? During the pagans? Can you see the difference? You stand as to what you believe in and I stand on mine. the bottom line is not to hurt others. Period..

@ Scouse - G'day Mate, wave ....thanks for the vote of confidence..... grin cheers
no hans, its a vote of respctcheers
Hi Johnny I do not think non-religious person is more susceptible to evil than any other. In fact to say you are not religious, I reckon you must learn about religion or how the devil you can say you do not agree with any religion I do not know.
Hope confused I think all people have hope or they could be heading the wrong way. How can one live without hopeconfused consciously or subconsciously. Without hope that is a very sad situation but does excistmoping
There is good and bad in all people every country every religion is called humanity.
I hope you have good weekend.teddybear
Where is that said?

My life has been far better since I copped on that god is a fictitious character. Of course I have hope, I hope that my children have happy and fulfilled lives, I hope I live to see my grandson grow up, I hope lots of things.
Thanks all for the great responses. I hear that a lot about religion being a man-made thing, designed to control people.

I have a different view on God. Not really as in the shape of a human watching over us, but as one energy that exists in everything and everyone.

SR, nice to hear from you. I ordered the books online and have since got one in. I am reading about synchonicity (The Tao of Psychology) and finished half the book last night. Now I can put a label on what sort of dreams we experienced. :) It is really interesting Jung discovered this and was not afraid to talk about it...at least he was not afraid to talk about it near the end of his career.
@ Redex - I'm afraid that I will have to disagree with you, Girl.... most evil-doing mass murderers and serial killers are religious, it's just that they went the 'demonic' way.... professor

Non-religious people have a more realistic view on the world because they still have their own mind..... grin hug wine
glatol, hans and all of the same mind??we are all gods )within ourselves)I hope anywaycheers
Thank you Hans.

I do not intend on this blog as being judgmental. We are a free-will society and I genuinely appreciate and respect everyone's decisions and beliefs they have.

I simply posted this blog because I was genuinely curious about the subject. Knowing a lot of people are non-religious, I wanted to better understand their perspectives. I must say, I have been enlightened and I very much thank you all for that.

I have one more question. You said that just because you are non-religious, that does not mean you do not believe in God. My question is this. How would you even know there was a God if religion did not exist?

I am sorry if this provokes an argument...that is not my intention.

Again, to each their own in life and I sincerely appreciate that.
@ Johnny_Sparton - Everyone since the beginning of time has believed in at least one God whether that God is an alien from another planet or universe or whether it is a suppernatural invisible being, long before religion was invented by the Romans simply because we all agree that everything we know was made by some entity far greater than us.... professor ..... grin cheers
A lot of swearing on the (good book) grin is done even to marriage but all do not end killing each other uh oh or do they.

the truth and nothing but the truthhelp in courts of LAWdunno I ask you.

Joking aside hans I have seen people get comfort in their lives with a belief wether we believe or not and some die a better death because of that belief too. How can you deny anyone one that believe.hug
@ Johnny_Sparton - PS Even my dogs believed there was a greater creature than them..... they would cower under the bed everytime the thunder started..... laugh rolling on the floor laughing .... grin cheers
@ Redex - I respect everyone to believe in whatever they choose to and whatever floats their boat but religious people are no more 'less harmed' than non-religious people, we all feel the same pains and suffer the same regardless of your beliefs...... grin hug wine
hi man,i am not as nice as hanslaugh rolling on the floor laughing hope is the real world we live in everyday??cheers
We are all believers in something.

Previous to birth of Christ we had pagans, druids, aztecs and witch-doctors - they believed in a higher power (god or gods)

I believe in God but not really religion or church. 3 major religions started within a few 100 miles each other. We all believe in the same God. Wars over the centuries - to date... we disagree how to worship same God!!

And No - non religious is no more susceptible to sin or badness than anyone else. Bad people do bad things. Good people at least try to do good every day.

hug
Yes hans true we all bleed the samecrying some with comfort some of us rely on our selvesdunno
Have good happy evening anywaypeace yay cheering teddybear
@ Redex - BTW people were married long before the first bible was ever written, be it in their own way or that of the tribe/clan at the time..... grin hug wine
@ Ribbit777 - Very well put.... thumbs up .... grin cheers
Hans your a man after my heart you like the last wordtongue
wine teddybear
@ Redex - Not at all, Girl.... I'm quite happy for someone else to have the last word.... laugh I'm just replying to posts and finishing off what I still had to say..... grin hug wine
yea yea teddybear I am like that too, I just hate to leave a thing half ------peace
Hans - you are on a loser.

When a woman says - you have to have the last word.....

just means she wants it doh
doh half said I forgot the saidgrin Ribbit professor you are correct grin cheers
And Jonny this was a very good blog --- some serious, some fun too but good clean chat about different points of view no harm done at all.teddybear
@ SR - The 'right to rule' was instigated by the church and still is today so if wars were fought for power and property then you can bet there is a religious core behind it. Today we still see hundreds of innocent people killed in the name of allah and the holy war..... nothing changes.... blues moping
Ribb I ll get back with you. Thanks. I'm visiting my relatives in Washington and driving right now

SR
My respect. Personally I think not an assurance in god, occurs from education. But there is also other category who speak, I don't believe in God to justify the guilty acts.

Sunday doh

Calm down woman.

Yes I studied what you wrote and brought back to the point.

Which is simply.

Bad people do bad things. Good folk - religious or not try to do good.

Power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely.

People always believe in hope - even the most ardent non-believer probably buys a lottery ticket

If you read back you will find I answered blog. If you read back?

confused
Sure Ribb. I am calm and thank you so much.. Why of course, life is way too short for bickering endless walls of unbent minds, you know?

But Johnny my friend, a great blog indeed..

thanks for the exercise.
