A twist of life

Just last week, a famous Filipina rightist legislator announced that she is refraining from doing her duties as she is diagnosed with staged 4 lung cancer. She added that she never smoke, never drink alcohol nor commit adultery. There was a pang of sadness that hit me. So many people including me are asking why her? Her husband is neither a smoker. Hence they attribute it to secondary inhalation. How sad life can be!

Quite a changed

Last week I went to Osaka. One thing that struck me was when I took the escalator, the people were lined to the right. I went there yrs ago but never noticed it. Here in Aichi Ken, people still lined to the left when doing the same. Getting internationalized perhaps being the 3rd largest city in Japan. I just wonder if it's true to Tokyo and Yokohama. Any ideas?bouquet

Just wondering

I and my son visited our relatives in the Phils. After 5 yrs. so, many things have changed. There were less vacant lots in our area. It's bustling more with life, a car wash shop stood at the corner lot 15 meters away from my place and 3 new houses were built and one is doubled as a t-shirt factory. The transport fare have increased by 5 pesos. And when I went to the supermarket, I have to pay 2 pesos for the plastic bag which was given free before. It was half the price here in Japan. There were a lot of posters advocating ecology conservation hence everyone is urge to bring their own grocery bags. In the department store section and fast foods, they don't give out plastic bags instead they put your goods in paper bags. I was just wondering where is eco conservation in using paper bags? And I happen to buy something from a street vendor near a govt office and she put the fried spring roll in a plastic then in a paper bag understandably because it was oily. I told her just to double the plastic and she told me that it's against regs. Ah my country I love but so many contradictions! Or I'm just criticizing too much! No matter what, it was soooo wonderful feeling, spending 10 hot, happy days in one's native land! Mabuhay and Banzai!heart wings bouquet

Job shift

I have the intention to change jobs hence browsed some vacancies from the govt employment agency. I chose one with no preference to age, nationality and gender. I can read katakana but just saw it in passing and never really gave a second to ponder about the company's name. When the Hello Work staff dialed the company, I was frustrated because even if they didn't indicate age limit on the brochure, they did so on the phone inquiry. But later I was happy i wasn't invited for interview. Imagine the name of the company is PENETRATE. Such a weird name! I felt funny!laugh

Just inquisitive

Weeks ago, I've read about Jack Moyer who seemed to be a distinguished man here in Japan aside from being a teacher. There is a group in the intl school where he used to teach accusing him of s*xual abuse. I don't know but I'm not his friend nor a fan of him. I just happen to read a news yrs ago that he died all alone in a govt housing in Tokyo. Just wondering why those who were alleged to be abused by him took several yrs after his death to muster courage and go out with it. And what his Filipina wife has done to counter the accusations knowing that his husband had long been dead before this accusations came out? Just really wondering. With all due respect to the "victims".blues

Apprehensive

Just recently i posted a blog about a Chinese lady from the factory who had a habit of picking her teeth right after her meal. Lo and behold, just this week she stopped doing it. She's married but who knows if she's a member of this site. Or that a friend common to both of us discovered the blog. From now on I have to be careful with what I'd post.bouquet

Thanks to Mod/s

Just recently, I posted a muppet as my primary pic. It was take during the very recent open base festa. I was wondering then why some profile pic raters gave a high rating for the muppet rather than my real pic. Until I opened CS yesterday, the profile pic was changed and today quite surprised because the picture which was taken in 2010 in Nikko City, Tochigi Ken, was zoomed in. You guys are great. I simply can't do that. Am not that computer literate. Thanks for the change! bouquet

Quite annoying

I always take my lunch break in the factory at 1pm. There's a young Chinese lady in her 30's sitting opposite. I'm just a bit annoyed because right after her meal(she finishes her packed lunch ahead of me), she has the habit of picking up her tooth. She covers her mouth with her hand, but just seeing the toothpick and she staring at me most of the time while doing it is really a big turn off. What do you say?moping

A late blog

Last Sun, Feb 23, I went to an open base festa in which I took this profile pic worn by an spectator. I'm just amazed to see men falling in line to try some suits of Men in Uniform. I just can't help but smile seeing a great number of men, young and old alike showing off their military-inspired possessions. A lot of pro and avid video and camera fans were a bit frustrated as only a single acrobat was shown and the events were less than the previous ones. But I think, it was just fitting to the theme about their own contribution of help to the Fukushima jiken. It was a bit of serious tone if I may say. But the mere fact that they open their base to the common people like me is already gratifying. My only regret was on my way out, at the entrance to the base, there was a group with placard petitioning for the Blue Impulses' participation. I did join the throng of people who were signing. Yet when I arrived home, I realized I shld not have done that. Who knows where would those papers go? How am I to know if they won't change the heading and make it appear to be anti govt. Till today I'm still worrying.doh
