Valentines Day blues

This is quite a month long late blog. It really started a week before Valentines Day. The Japanese line leader(Note that I just started in that factory last December 2018 and that the custom here in Japan is to give chocolates to your male friends/co workers on Valentines Day) told us that we don't have to give him chocolates on Valentines Day and gave a practical reason. Well then, good. So I thought. On the morning of Valentines Day, he again said that he didn't want us to give him chocolates. Of all our male co workers, he was the only one who said that to us. I do find some male co workers who are worthy of receiving one for being nice in giving techniques on how to do the work well. But I refrain from doing so. From that morning till around noon, I could see several female workers giving our male counterparts with big and small boxes of chocolates. Then after, the overtime became lesser.( He was the one who tell us our overtime always) And lo and behold I'm now assigned to the other branch from March. Do you think there's a connection? Tomorrow is March 14, the so called White Day when the girls' turn to receive chocolates. I've bought myself a big box of Ferrero. Would devour it to my heart's desire!!grin

On my co worker

2 days ago I happened to inquire about a co worker whom I've never seen for several days. I was told, she fell unconscious while at work and was rushed to hospital. I was saddened since I used to work with her. The girl whom I asked took pity of her since the lady is in her mid 50's and was living alone far from her children. At first look , one may consider it's all about work. Our job is quite physical and as it's summer, we shed a lot of sweat. Not that the company has no cooling system. In fact we have several spot coolers and in the place where she fell unconscious is the most convenient and comfortable place in all of the factory. As I've said I used to work with her and I've noticed for most of the times(might be bad to say more than half of the times)she was sleepy. One time she was not just sleepy but almost fell backwards twice in a row. And then she confided she hadn't slept yet since she joined a fishing group early in the day. Not so sure what other reasons she had for the rest of the times she was so sleepy. Alas for the factory, though. As it may look the factory has some kind of fault for not minding their workers. No one has the right to meddle on one's private time but if it interferes with one's work to the detriment of the factory's name and the others in general, someone must limit her OT time or her working days.

Chuckling!!!

As I've mentioned before I'm in the night shift. In the wee hrs this morning at the factory, a commotion ensued. Two ladies who are compatriots and who hailed from Latin America were getting physical. The JLeader helped pacify them and in so doing his white uniform was smeared with blood. Both are in their 40's and one had physically overpowered the other that after the commotion, the other one was left with one scratch near the nose bridge and another one at the cheekbone aside from a painful arm. I just can't imagine how in the name of job stress, one could go to the extent of incurring physical injury. Isn't it a crime? My take is if one can't handle the stress of the job, it's either she resign or limit her overtime work. When we left at around 8:30, the higher ups were having a meeting. Some who have stayed in a company for so long feel some kind of entitlement as if they become stockholders and own one wall of the factory. sigh sigh sigh
