Newsflash

It seems, that some people are somehow unaware,
that if you are drunk or high,
YOU are still the one who is responsible for YOUR behavior.
It's not an excuse for illegal behavior.

For instance;

If you rob, kill, or attempt to rape someone, YOU are the one who is totally responsible for YOUR actions.
It was YOUR choice to do what you did, including taking the drug, or drinking the alcohol and the crime too.

Yeah, you were drunk when you robbed that bank. Thanks for that added information.
Now, let me show you to your jail cell. You are welcome to one phone call,
but since it is 3:30 am, I advise you not to make it to your ex. laugh

The lack of taking responsibility for one's actions is getting worse and worse. Being drunk is just one area, so many people use outlandish excuses to get away from accepting their own responsibility.
Worse is that far too many actually encourage people to find excuses for bad social behaviour.
You're right r. Some do far more than enable such behavior, they even help the felon come up with excuses. thumbs down
In regards to drugs illegal or otherwise.Should someone be responsible if someone places that drug in their food or drink?

Just in one of my silly good moods today.grin
2016
A man who murdered his wife while she slept and blamed his actions in part on the effects of a sleeping pill he was taking, was given an extra two years jail time – taking his sentence to 21 years.

The killer, Brian Browning, had pleaded not guilty, relying on the evidence of a doctor who said that doxylamine (the sleeping pill) “could cause a person to do things that were otherwise completely out of character”.

This argument was not accepted by the Victorian trial court and Browning was convicted. On appeal, the court acknowledged the accused’s judgment and emotional controls were disturbed by his “decompensated psychological state,” but concluded several aggravating factors were involved that made the case a complicated and serious one.

BW - I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV. laugh
But, that scenario would depend upon what was crime or action was done and what substance was placed into the drink. .
Certainly slipping something not ordered into someone's drink is in itself illegal
and blame for that action is the sole responsibility of the person who did that action.
Whether any other crimes committed by the person who drank the drink are partially the responsibility of
that person who spiked the drink seems somewhat reasonable to me, depending upon what crime and
what drug was used.
