Cleaning is done. Now my feet hurt.

How do these two things connect? Well, I'll tell you in this blog.

I went to clean my old room today. I grabbed my Swiffer, my duster and then I went and bought some cleaning product, which I didn't really need. But I would rather be safe than sorry. Admittedly, I arrived a bit early, and I felt my heart race, for some reason, I felt weird, but it wasn't because I was scared to face my now former roommate. I think it's still the effects from covid. Anyway, I sat down and did some breathing exercises that I read online. Whenever I feel the way that I did, I need to just sit down, relax, and breathe steadily. It helped, so by the time it was 1 pm, I was feeling a lot better.

I immediately got to work, hoovering the floor. Well, after I put the bed up against the wall, that is. At one point, I asked if someone could help me hauling the bed over to the dumpster. Luckily, there were. So we got the bed down, out of the door, down the stairs and out into the container. After that, all I had to do was Swiff the floor, dry it up and leave. Which I did. It took me about an hour in total, and before I left, I told the former roommate, that I would contact him whenever I felt the time was right. It could be 1 month, or it could be 1 year. "That's completely up to you", was his reply. So now, I am just going to focus on improving my health and start my education, which is in three months time today. 16th of August, is the start date. I'm so excited!

Anyway, after I left, I decided to visit my former neighbors, at their shop on the coastal highway. I looked at Google Maps, and it said it would take me an hour. Off I went, one foot in front of the other. When I finally got there, I met the husband, because the wife wasn't feeling her best. We talked for about 30 minutes or so, after which point, I bade him farewell and headed home. This is where my aching feet comes into play.

I asked myself "How long will it take to walk home from here?".. So I had another look at Google Maps (Danish invention, btw), and it told me, that it would take about an hour to walk. The weather was nice, so I thought "Sure, I'll walk!". It should be noted, that the distance was 3.4 miles, to which I said "Ah, it'll be fine. I have the entire day anyway, so I'm gonna walk". One foot in front of the other. The walk was excellent. I went past a few supermarkets, fuel stations and car dealers, so plenty to look at. I even bought some food and snacks, which was my dinner and dessert. I know, I am a super healthy individual.. At one point, my feet began to ache a bit. but I soldiered on, because.. Well, I am a viking, after all.. By the time I was 5 minutes from home, all I wanted to do was to take off my shoes and lay down in my bed.. Alas, I still had a few hundred feet to walk. One foot in front of the other.. Just keep walking, you'll be fine..

When I finally locked myself into the apartment, I quickly took off my shoes, my jacket and then I sat down in my bed, breathing a huge sigh of relief while I did it. What should have taken two hours, took three. Mainly due to all the stops I made, and the steady (slow) pace I walked at.

I am finally free of the old place. Finally free of the long messages. Finally free from hearing some awfully loud noises at midnight. Finally free from hearing arguments that last hours. Finally free from the endless boasting about the stuff being bought. But most importantly: I am free to do whatever I want, without having to explain myself or my purchases.

So yes, today was a very good day! How was your day?
