Life begins after 55
There was a time when being in one’s fifties meant you were old, unemployable, stuck in a rut and just waiting to be one of life’s dearly departed. These days, however, many people enjoy a good thirty or more years of youthful activity, with at least twenty of these without the need to work.
For many that now find themselves single after raising children, got divorced or separated the world is your oyster. You have the love of family yet are free to finally find the type of love you dreamed of as a teenager.
Just look at the benefits... You can spend all your time sharing an unparalleled togetherness with your partner, doing what pleases you both without distraction, ties or commitments.
You have the opportunity to profit from the joy of grandchildren, your ambitions, in the main have been achieved. You have the financial means to indulge in hobbies or travel and with maturity comes the knowledge of comfort within ourselves.
Now is the time to profit from the adventures that life has to offer.

As it is...lately I am so lazy getting out of bed and on weekends, I just want to chill.

I would like a Grandmother whom I could chase and whip her
Bloomers off, so she could wear me down to a nub.

So very true, no little kids knocking on the bedroom door, no fear of having more kids, no more inhibitions. I could go on and on.
I agree with you. Life has been pretty great since I retired. I can take my time getting places, no boss to answer to. I just pretty much do what I like!
so life is long, long road.
Yes, retirement can be great if you have someone to share it with but, if not, the days can be very long.

Regarding your comment, my father told me that when he retired at the age of 67 he would need to have some form of occupation to maintain his health. The reason for this was he had seen friends retire and do nothing, they withered and died within a few years, whereas those that remained active lived longer.
My father died just prior to his 90th birthday.
I would love to retire, unfortunately I still have a good 6 or more years to go.
