come together, right now ... let's buy a place?
The link below leads you to an article on villages for sale in Spain. Yup, whole villages, and while few of us (any?) could afford one on our own, CS, this is our chance to turn our global on-line village into the real deal for returning to a simpler, happier life, or even just time-share holidays We could squabble in PERSON!For those who don't follow links, $230K (negotiable) will buy us 100 acres, 6 houses, 2 farms and even a stand-alone bread-making kitchen ... a nice little starter village, plenty of room to expand.
okay that's Northwest Spain, not many of our resident bloggers in that area (actually probably none) and even the article doesn't rave about the weather. Still knocks holes in Scottish weather, mind.
But it isn't the only village, probably just the cheapest. There are hundreds - even thousands - in lush fertile areas left abandoned as rural Spaniards move to the cities. We could be onto something amazing here.
In the first comment I will put the description of the village in question. Oh boy.
So that's today's Sunday dream.

unfortunately, i don't speak spanish.
Never realized I was a frustrated empire-builder before
Very Nice I want to by One
Tell me more
Happy Sunday
Actually it's the village thing that appealed, more than just buying a single place. Must be the Scot in me coming out, INDEPENDENCE and shaping a community our way
I suppose we could bring our own. There are amazing 'kit' houses on the market, and some caravans and campers are more luxurious than a house anyway. Post pics
And I prefer to rule from behind the throne
Now listen, we need you on board for this. Fact-finding missions into the countryside, because I'll tell you what we want, what we really really want, is a nice little village in your part of the world. Imagine having a whole bunch of CS members as neighbours?
I´ve always fancied moving up north where it´s a bit cooler.
Of course, it will have to be all energy saving, with solar panels, windmills etc. - remember my blog about the electricity blackout?
We need to be preparing for that and building our own self sufficient community.
As for CS members joining us? Well... we need to be selective for that... not only the ones who can afford it, but also who can bring something useful and be productive.
I see you´ve already got me signed up for Spanish lessons? How nice of you
Don´t forget that I´ll also want to rescue a few horses and we could offer some lessons and equinotherapy---my dream!
Horses, oh yes. And I really do want to get into the whole alpaca thing. My cousin breeds them and is becoming something of an authority on them, and they are just gorgeous. Plus alpaca milk is the best milk I have ever tasted.
Now who will spread muck for planting veggies. We need a goat, a sheep ONE oh you can see my mind running riot.
One concern - real men don't eat quiche, they say. Colour me fussy, but I'm rather hoping the village will be heavy on men. Sun-bronzed, striding round the place ...
I need a date.
Sangria. We need a volunteer for sourcing sangria. Show of hands?
I am sure me and Daniela could do some vegies
should I have said Daneila and I would not make hash----in of garden
Believe me I would love it.
Just while Z is sorting out the fortifications ...
Joke, people. We WANT to attract visitors to the art gallery and the plays - handy income.
Just joking i am not into free anything, but everyone is free to do as the want. But
I think as a village of singles, preferably heavy on men, we should be okay. This is a dream, remember. Dream away!
