Thoughts about love

Love is a controversial feeling, both cure and ruin,
A reason to live or die.
Some people say there is no love without suffering,
Still what is worth life without love?

Here, I share Perhaps Love, with Placido Domingo and John Denver, a poem in the form of song that can define love better than me. smitten

My thoughts about love is it is becoming more and more elusive on a widespread basis.
The idea is beautiful to receive it, but I don't know how much people like giving it.
Thanks for the video, Stringman. kiss

Don't give up on love, Johnny! comfort
yeah laugh
Here is another beautiful song, this time in Portuguese, with subtitles in English. The singer, Renato Russo, was the lead singer of the band Legião Urbana, which was very popular in Brazil in the 80s. The lyrics are part of the poem "Amor é um Fogo que Arde sem se Ver" (Love is fire that burns unseen) by Luís Vaz de Camões. I hope you like. kiss

Saudade, saudade, saudade. Fado, Fado, Fado. Aa.
Johnny, (almost) everyone is ready to receive love, but to give love a certain amount of selflessness is required. There are few selfless people in the world, perhaps, 0.001%, but they are still worth a shot. bouquet
Not getting much love these days but I like to think its out there.
Johnny...I am a giver and I'm sure there are many who also give. Maybe you've been with the wrong women/people all your life? teddybear heart wings

Annanda...beautiful song smitten

There are all kinds of Love love heart wings
Track, hope dies last. Don't give up. kiss

Daniela, thanks! I'm glad you liked it!bouquet
Aartarboy, "saudade" is a beautiful Portuguese word. I can't translate it! I can only feel it. dunno
Anna...you are right, there are still some loving people out there. grin

Daniela...I think I might be in the search for the understanding of that. Maybe that is a fool's task though. laugh
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
We are all capable of love, just not always capable of receiving it, plus often we fall in love with someone that will never love us back, equally people fall in love with us, and we dont fall for them, I think there is a lot more to love than butterflies in the stomach.hug
Thanks, Stringman! That's a lovely song!
People say Italian is the language of love. Is it? Or that would be French?
dunno
love is where you find it, you just have to put your heart and soul into it.
Map, you are right.
Love is complex.
I agree that some people are not ready to be loved...perhaps too much suffering leads to that.
That's a topic for another blog post. Who is willing to write?grin
For now, it's good to have in mind that there are others forms of love, not only romantic love, which perhaps is what most of us think about when love is on the spot.
And most styles of Fado, A, are the same. But if you listen to the music, you understand saudade. Aa.
Seaworthy just took the words out of my mouth...or at least SOME. thumbs up

Maybe Johnny you're looking in the wrong places? dunno
Annanda...it is said that "those who are the hardest to love are the ones who need it most".

Also...FEAR is the biggest obstacle to Love.

FEAR stops the flow of love.
Daniela, I agree with you.
However, the fear also reminds me of that saying "once burned, twice scared".
How can someone cross the fear barrier? Any ideas?dunno

"This thing called love, I just can't handle it...."

Aaltarboy, good point. Bossa Nova can also do that. grin
Stringman, indeed "love is where you find it". The question is: where is it? laugh
I agree "you just have to put your heart and soul into it," otherwise what is the point.
It must be a risk-it-all game to feel it to the fullest.
What's Love Got to Do with It
Tina Turner
LYRICS
You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that ooo
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
It may seem to you that I'm acting confused
When you're close to me
If I tend to look dazed I've read it someplace
I've got cause to be
There's a name for it
There's a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason you do it for me ooo
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
I've been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I've been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way oh oh oh
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
ooh got to do with it
(What's love but a second hand emotion)
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
(What's love got to do with it) got to do with it
(What's love)

Hi, ineed2luvuwave
I'm glad you liked it!
Hi Bluewave

Thanks for sharing Tina's lyrics.
I believe this song is all about fear of love.
I have been love starved for thirteen years now, but I can remember what it is like to be loved and have someone to love. It changes the entire world as you see it. It makes your whole outlook anew and you feel like a totally new person full of joy and happiness and most of all HOPE. Hope is the force that keeps life going, that hope of finding someone that will light that dwindling flame, arouse that fading ember coaxing it into a life changing glowing love that gives you a feeling of worth, of value not only to yourself but to the special someone that loves you. Without love life is empty and valueless. Sure it goes on and we keep hoping and searching, but life is so short and the opportunities are so few that before we know it life has passed us by and all we can do is look to the past of what was and wish it could once again be. Yes, love is the life giver and without it there is just existence. How sad.
Amanda...there are techniques to remove Fear and barriers.

Another quote which comes to mind from Rumi....
"Your task is not to seek for love but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it"
Hi 13yearsnow,
Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece. applause
I hope you can find love again!
Interesting quote, Daniela.
Without barriers and fears, love would come easier...with a little luck from the Gods. grin
Beautiful song, Track!
Thanks for sharingkiss
"The greatest thing you could ever learn,
is just to love and be loved in return." head banger

I'm a social person and I do need - as I believe most people do - people and love in my life. I'm lucky to have a family I love, good friends and someone special in my life.

I am sorry for anyone not having any of these - not everyone has a good family or a solid, lasting relationship. Having something "solid" is important for the soul I think. wine
I think a bar is s great place for a single man who:
Is a man's man....like my Dad
Likes to socialize evenings without drinks (soda,)
Shooting pool, bowling leagues , archery, gun clubs thumbs up
You can meet someone and have companionship
Go slow in building a romance .

What one observed shows the attention to body
language etc interaction
Hey Anna wave
My idea if love is Respect.Without it,I couldn't
..just couldn't go there.blushing

Anywho....

Mr.Seaworthy wave
I hope you understood my comment about you and
TR on Usha's blog -it referenced him travelling to Aruba
inadvertently, and being on the wrong side of ocean
( Keeping Usha waiting)
You would steer him in the right direction.thumbs up
Wouldn't you.PS he really needs a wardrobe makeover.
Sea...it took a lot restrain, but I will not lash out. grin

You are so right about what you say....that is most like why I am a still single with my local search.

But, there might be a trade-off for me though.

The value offered needs to be somewhat equal to the value received. (usually anyway...on a subconscious level too...usually again)

If I am looking for something of higher value in one department, I may have to sacrifice the level of value in another department.

Of course, that is just one scenario.
