Making plans for the USA! (part 10!)

It's that time again - where a random Dane tells you all about his plans for his upcoming USA trip. This episode is all about being online in the US.

I deleted the previous blog, because I have come across some information that made the blog obsolete! Basically, I was talking about data plans in the USA, and how I had to buy a new sim card once I land in the USA. As it turns out, my phone provider offers something called World, which gives me 80 gigs of data at home, and 25 gigs of data in the USA.

How much is 25 gigs of data, I hear you ask? Well.. It's 277 hours of social media usage, which is what I am going to use it for. I need to update my family and my friends, so 25 gigs of data is plenty. I probably won't have time to watch YouTube videos. But just as a precaution, I have asked my phone provider if I will have the full 105 GB of data, or just the 25 GB.. There's free WiFi everywhere in the US, but I would prefer to not use that. Safety, and everything.. I could get a VPN, though..

In any case, me switching to World will solve the biggest hurdle. That also means, that all my research into sim cards in the USA has been for nothing.. Well.. If I one day decide to take a longer holiday there, then it might be the best option, but for one week? Yeah, my World subscription is enough.

The next step is to buy some small kitchen gadgets, note the price on them and then pack! 17 days until I start that process..

I have forgotten how to pack a suitcase properly.. Send help..

Edit: My phone provider confirmed that the 25 gigs is what I have available, and not the full 105 gigs. Still, 25 gigs is enough, for sure

Disneyland Bound at 0400

Today I leave for Disneyland in Anaheim, CA at 4 am. I told my beau I would sleep but I haven’t slept. I can’t. Every time I go somewhere with impending excitement I can’t sleep. But I will try here shortly after this writing. I have to leave by 0400 to get there by 0800. Oh the anticipation!

The new place I absolutely must see there is Galaxy’s Edge. I haven’t been to Disneyland since they opened that. I want to drive the millennium falcon and indulge in the chocolate popcorn and spiked blue milk. I want to be spooked by Kylo Ren. I want the full experience.

The day after that is when I will meet my beau in LA and he will officially ask me to be his girlfriend. Omg I cannot wait as he’s been consistent with me. He wanted me to be a girlfriend sooner but I just wasn’t sure. I didn’t want to rush it. He said okay, I’m sure about you now but I’ll respect your wishes.

Be still my beating heart!

Say a prayer for me as I rummage through the chaos that is LA. uh oh

'Watch' this again...

As followup to my 'Watch' this blog, about the number of people wearing watches that connect to their cellphones, I decided to buy a low-end 'fitness' watch just to check it's operation. I'm highly skeptical these devices could be accurate, at least in the ones that are inexpensive, but I'm giving it a try.

First step with any of these watches is charge the device. That gives you time to read the instructions and download the app that connects it to your smartphone. Allow time to be familiar with the settings for both the phone and watch. It defaults to metric, so I changed things to Imperial, including Fahrenheit for temperature. Only my doctors record my weight in kilos.

Since I wear no jewelry and haven't for years, I found it annoying to have this fitness watch attached to my wrist. It's already hitting the countertop, edge of doorways and anything I come in close proximity to. I expect lots of scratches on the bezel within the first week. That makes me wonder about all the people wearing diamond studded watches the size of a Frisbee!
That would equate to the women wearing 'inch-long' fake eyelashes. If you do it long enough, it becomes part of you. Kinda like Paul Stanley (KISS guitarist) wearing six-inch high platform shoes on stage must have required weeks of practice elsewhere.

Okay, I've had the watch on for 12 hours and it's reporting to my phone some statistics. Blood pressure at it's highest 127/64 and 81 beats per minute, currently 53bpm. Temperature 98.0 F, blood oxygen at 98% and I burned 11 calories.
laugh

I'm most curious about the sleep status. The first night shows 3 hours and 50 minutes with 1 hour and 30 minutes being in deep sleep.

Although the device is water resistant enough for swimming, I'll remove it for my morning shower.

Later today, I'll compare the blood pressure and beats with my stand-alone blood pressure monitor.

'Watch' this...

I estimate the percentage of iPhone users versus 'the other phone' users to be as high as 70/30 and many most of them have an apple watch to go along with their setup. The phone rings and they look at their wrist. Most of the time, you don't hear their phone, but you see them looking as text messages or Twitter feeds scroll across the screen.

Digital or simulated analog watch face, some try to emulate what is on the main screen to their iPhone.

One guy in the design department wears Apple earbuds and talks through the Wi-Fi connection in his watch while his iPhone sits in a charging cradle.

So the idea of carrying around a phone that does everything hasn't replaced a wristwatch, as I found if it's not an Apple watch, it's the 'old standard' watch.

However, if you've got money... nothing says it more than a diamond watch.

In summary: It would appear having a cellphone doesn't eliminate the need or desire for a wristwatch, probably because watches are often worn as jewellery that happens to tell time.

Apple watches are on sale this weekend!

They don't come back...

The problem with any dating site is they need to have a reason for new members to return.
They don't come back if there isn't anything to keep their attention. Dating is the number one reason for the bait. While it's great to have a place to post videos, poems, recipes and photos, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter can do the same thing... on a larger scale and while you say you're not there to date, many of the profiles on those platforms do exactly that.

Blogs and forums generally detract from the dating process and you find yourself spending hours in hopes of finding someone, but percentage wise, most bloggers don't date.
I get a few hits a week of looks, likes and messages. They are mostly from women, new members under the age of 35 and a portion of the profiles disappear while a high percent never return.

Scanning the 'New Women in Everywhere' list, I found by page 5 the amount of members who don't return out weight those who do. 50% failure and they have been here less than a week. What is the reason for this and can it be changed?

I used to think a dating site with a chatroom was the place to be and make quick communications that were better than reading blogs and forum threads. Not many dating sites had/have live chat. One place I hang out at actually has a chatroom with never more than 2 or 3 people. Usually, it's guys waiting like sharks for a woman to appear!
laugh
So that isn't working. At least, not on that site.

What we do here is private.
I don't see who you are looking at and messaging.
You don't see who I'm looking at and messaging either.
One site actually had those statistics on the member's profile.
You knew up front who received the most messages, if they actually read them, replied or deleted messages without reading them!
It was only a few seconds to realize it wasn't worth messaging someone who habitually deleted unread messages.

Take the bad with the good. If I remember correctly, you were nagged if you didn't actively message other members and those statistics were on your profile for all to see, so you can look at a member's profile and know if they were actively communicating with other members. I've got to say, the scary part is it revealed who you were messaging with!
I don't recall how long that lasted and I don't want someone to know who I'm interested in. That was worse than High-School dating.

Dating site expectations are too high. You're not going to find a soulmate if they are one in a million, because you may have to go through a million to find one!

you read or hear????

News papers now barf the reporters make a meal of any situation. Even hound people just to get a story to help them on their promotion or money when they sell s called story.very mad

The news on the box (tv) well their people yak on and on, not letting anyone they are so called interviewing have a word and correcting their asumptions.

Even governments around the world too in what so called researches said about covid jabs which like Astra zenika have been hidden now.
I am ashamed and sorry for those on blogs warning us about jabs and Yes they were right.

Now different researches are say climate change and what the world is doing will be to no avail, waste of money etc. The world has since its beginning has always changed.

Maybe clean the place up for health purposes but that be it.

Same as all the news and reporters and police said about missing Madeline MaCanne was just news upmanship. Some of you apparently believed all the bumff

My Piano and I

Well I wanted to get started with my day BUT I am inspired to write yet another long term blog. After this you guys probably won’t see a blog from me for a while. Because I do post quite a bit here now that I’m not on Facebook but anyhow….

A way to keep your brain from succumbing to entropy is to play the piano. A long lost hobby of mine that I dearly love. I will be posting videos of me playing it on YouTube and posting it here once I get back into it. Because I do want to show the world that I do have passions that I pursue that aren’t just about sexy handsome men. Although they are very high on my list. Lol.

So stay tuned for those videos. It will be a series of music pieces that I love to play on piano. I’m mainly into classical pieces right now because they are both challenging and melodic simultaneously. I don’t care anymore if you guys see what I look like. I’m tired of hiding myself. I have things to offer in my creative and inspiring arsenal.

My melodic piece of weaponry. I love it so much. One of the things I would grab if there was a fire threat. And excuse the mess. My teenage kitten has other ideas besides keeping order.

Note to-self

Don't make it easy for anyone to get through the back door ....
cause once their in, they'll slap the front one in your face typing

AGAIN... a word to the wise
don't you dare tell me who I banter with, who the hell do you think you are mumbling

You speak of kindness, I think you're confusing that with controlling.

To revolving doors.. thumbs up

Consequences of growing crony capitalism would be world over recession! Coming 10 years are crucial.

That might lead the world to the 3rd. World War. doh
And the dreamy middle class awakens on a fateful morning to see the devastation with the eyes widely opened. scold
