We went to have coffee and cakes instead in one of the many cafes in this building; apartments that have been converted to fanciful cafes.

My daughter chose to have banh mi and it was clearly a better choice. I took a bite and ordered one to go! grin

My mom enjoyed banh mi and the baguettes a lot when she visited Vietnam many years ago so I decided to get her some freshly baked baguettes. I just realized how obscene this picture turned out to be….blushing

Predicting the next Rockstar to fall...

The passing of Guitarist Jeff Beck took us by surprise, yet others who lived a life of drugs and alcohol are still with us. Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters slipped away at the age of 50. Certainly the Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richards at 79 looks like he's been embalmed years ago. Ozzy Osbourne had a few health issues... keep an eye on him.
Last week I was watching a few videos of The Traveling Wilburys, Harrison is gone, Roy Orbison is gone, Tom Petty is gone, Jeff Lynne is pretty healthy, but Bob Dylan at 81 years old could go at any moment.
David Crosby who wasted years of his life addicted to drugs, passed away in January at the age of 81.

I still think of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake... Carl Palmer is still alive and well.

Only their music lives forever...

What defines beauty...

I went to high-school with a girl who was 'scary ugly' and we made cruel jokes about her looks "She was so ugly, her parent's had to tie a pork chop around her neck just to get the family dog to play with her"
Southern humor, I know.
Around the time we were in college she was driving a luxury sports car. Coming from a middle-class family, everyone took notice. Her looks changed, but not from the ugly duckling to a swan. She was still 'very unusual' and the story was she became a fashion model. That 'look' was marketable.
At that point any local guy who wanted to date her... didn't have a chance.
What defines beauty?

The CS wish list...

If I could have some CS wishes, my list wouldn't be too long. Well, maybe it would. The first request would be to be able to view profiles without them knowing and not giving up the ability of knowing who view me. Kinda like having your cake and eating it too. Going stealth has it's drawbacks. Unfortunately as simple of a request could have everyone using it and soon no one would 'see' any profiles here.

Another request would be to log on and appear offline. All the hits I get are within the first 20 minutes of being online as members float to the top of the list of who's online by the order of when they log on.

Allow foreign (Asian) languages so we read what they say in their language when they don't know English.
Chinese, Japanese, Thai, also Russian.

Body cam... what a great invention.

After a review of this body cam, Preston Hemphill gets fired from the Memphis Police Force having violated multiple department policies. Quick read: He was one of the first cops to confront Tyre Nichols and allegedly deployed his Taser during the confrontation.
The investigation is ongoing and I'm sure we will see updates as details are released.

Helping a coworker move went a bit.. Unexpected..

I had an agreement with someone at work, that I would help him move today. 11 am meeting time, but I was there a bit earlier, because I wanted some food and something to drink.

Once that was acquired, off we went to collect the furniture. On the motorway there, a car got our attention by honking. Apparently something was wrong, so we pulled over to see what they were on about. Finding nothing, we started driving again. It was only when we arrived at the location from where my coworker was moving from, that we found out what they were trying to say to us on the motorway - the rear driver side tyre was almost out of air. It was also pretty warm, so we had to change the wheel. I don't know why the tyre was warm, so maybe someone can educate me on that subject.

Anyway.. We managed to change the wheel, after what felt like five hours. In reality, it was only about 45 minutes, but it felt longer. We loaded up the furniture, a whopping THREE cabinets and a TV, and off we went to my coworkers new place. He had found a place in a town close to work for 5000 Danish kroner per month including bills, which was pretty cheap seeing as he has two rooms, instead of just one.

When we were close to the new place, I suddenly got a pretty severe case of flashbacks to back when I was about 8. All the houses looked like the one I grew up in. We're talking the exact same layout, same kitchen and bathroom placement, same garden.. Same everything. The only thing missing was red doors and a shed next to the front door. Otherwise, it looked exactly the same. It was very weird, and I knew where everything was, even if it was my first time in that particular place.

So my day today went from "Oh it's gonna be pretty quick moving these things" to "Wow, I am back in my childhood home AND I have helped changing a flat tyre on a van.."

I have also begun the next stage in my USA trip planning. More on that later

Drone ON...

For years, I've been reading about Amazon making deliveries by drone. For the record, it's not perfected yet. Good idea or not, something on a large scale must get the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) which is the same government agency that hasn't allowed flying cars. Remember those?
I'm reading some drone companies have plane-like aircraft that drop their cargo from 10 to 12 feet and not land to release the package. Tell that to your Rolex vendor.

People who make flying cars often depict someone stuck in traffic and like a transformer, opening wings and taking to the sky. Read my lips: It ain't happening.
Airplanes (real or converted cars) have to get approval from a flight tower and have a prescribed flight plan... with the exception of a crop duster in Kansas, they all have to be 'on the radar' and takeoff and land from a runway. That includes manned drones.

While Amazon drones have great merit, you cannot fill the sky with drones dropping $200 Yeazy sneakers across town. What are they good for? In my opinion, special emergency authorization like a 20 minute direct flight transporting a heart (on ice) to a hospital 50 miles away where an ambulance transport could be more than one hour getting through one busy city to another busy city. Just like an ambulance helicopter transport, a designated heli-pad is where the package would be received. Logically, there would need to be a fast charge station for the return flight.

Kenya...

I wrote a blog early this morning that more than 70 new female profiles listed from Kenya were created in a 6 hour period. The blog disappeared and so did the 70 profiles.
I checked now and counted more than 14 new ones in 3 hours.
Hackers or a busy matchmaker using CS as the portal isn't important to me. I just highlighted the unusual activity. Obviously, someone is pumping CS with women from Kenya.
Having seen this on another site, they actually removed that country from membership or location. Famous for romance scammers, the same went for Nigeria and Ghana.
Those countries weren't available as places for new members.

Used car prices...

COVID hit and car buying changed. New cars were in short supply with no new inventory to replenish stock. Used car prices shot up where cars coming off a 3-year lease are selling for the same price is new.
One day I'm reading that's all going to change and another day I'm reading this inflated car prices isn't going away anytime soon.
I'm getting messages from the dealer where I bought a few years ago... they want to buy back my car. I'm just out of warrantee and have been toying with the idea of something slightly larger. In doing so, I'll miss having a car that gets around 35 miles per gallon.

I keep shopping, but nothing interesting has jumped out to get my attention...
