Death Of The King (Of The Ring) #

Even Though Mohamed Ali Had been ln the later stages of a crippling Ailment the world ls rocked to lts core to hear of his sad passing. RIP.
People who had no lnterest ln sport were still drawn by his charisma. We will never see this greatness and
Character again. People will point that Rocky Marciano was the only Heavyweight Champion never beaten
( Compared to 5 losses ln Ali's professional record but when you consider Frazier,Cooper,Foreman, Liston &
Patterson to pick the most famous, an argument must be made that Ali / Clay fought ln a more difficult era.

As well as being the showman and great athlete this giant was smart and articulate and had a wit which
Endeared him to his lnterviewers and his captive audience.
Sadly now l expect there will be awful squabbling and bickering between his wife and all the children from his
Current and previous marriages. It ls a great pity as undignified behaviour ls an lnsult to this man's greatness.

Heaven ls A Better Place Now .

2nd birthday

I am 91 years old, how can I have a 2nd birthday? Today is my 38th birthday ! Here is how it happened, 38 years ago today, July 3, 1978, I received a triple bypass, it saved my life. Now
I am the longest living human with a triple, proud to say that. I wont go in to another aspect preceding the operation, but, a real Angel came to me to help me through the process. I might not say an Angel helped me, but I had a witness to the fact. I am not like some , like a past President, who clamed God told him to be President , no witness to that event, could he have been patronizing the Evangelical crowd seeking votes?
Should any of you know of a person with a longer history of a bypass than mine, I will retract my claim, medical authorities cannot find another person. studecar (Larry) yay :applause
PS: pardon me for being so egatistical

Sports

I have an answer in my mind. I will ask a question and see if any would answer the same.
The question is : Why do we lose weight when exercise provided we maintain the same diet

After we all leave this charmed life...

....no exceptions. Ok, all this bloging on politics, or worse. I thought I'd push for a much more cheery topic. We go on through life dealing with worries of many sorts. Kids, bills, family, pets often top the list. But having been here for a long while, long enough to see more than a few CS folks leave life for good, some after struggling with terminal illnesses, it got me thinking. The few times I might have thought I had a deadly illness, but didn't, how the thought processes did change. Never had so many novel thoughts, some quite good, some not so much. And after learning of the reprieve, even more new thoughts. Sure, gratitude often tops the list, but what long, new lists these turned out to be. For some, it changes our thinking permanently. Well, permanently is a long time.

Women and men.....doctors....

After the US civil war, few records tell of lady physicians are found. Just after the First World War, women (and some fellas) opened the first medical college for women, in Pennsylvanis. The rest is history, if a slow one. Up until 30 years ago, women represented below 20% of doctors in training here. Not so elsewhere, and in Russia, much earlier, women physicians were more common than men. Turkey has almost no cosmetic male dermatologists. Many othe examples. And today in the USA, women represent nearly half of incoming classes. And just this year, almost all OB/ Gynecologists entering specialty training are ladies, more or less. But all of my urologists, (with their intimate yearly prostate exams!) are men. We all wait for the ladies to broaden the ranks. Bend over Aaltarboy, says Dr. Esmarelda. Yeowie.

Women and men......Human aromas......

Some better than others, no? But maybe our scents that we don't seem to perceive (like pheromones) are behind so called, "love at first site". And much else. Women, living together in barracks or dormitories often synchronize monthlies. And many women here on CS in Profiles specify "must smell good" in searches.

"And They're Off!"

This has not been my week for electronics, that's for darn sure. Twenty years ago, I developed an all natural anti-inflammatory and topical pain reliever that I ended up marketing (with endorsement from a pharmacist and naturopath) after completing my degree in graphic & web design. I now have three online businesses, which, of course requires me to download my orders from the internet. Mondays and Fridays I've allotted to taking my orders across the US border to mail. After screwing my previous computer up because USPS wouldn't let me use their site unless I upgraded, and the upgrade trashed my computer, I had my Friday already pre-planned.

Friday morning, turn on the computer, get coffee, and.... can't get online. Okay, do all the things you're supposed to, then phone the company. Problems in the area - oh great. Fortunately, my phone is with another carrier and I was able to get my orders with my phone. But of course, I still couldn't use USPS to purchase my postage.

Frustrated, the day didn't get any better, with a lineup to cross the bridge due to construction, a lineup at the border, and a lineup at the post office - none of which are usual. Returning home, I diverted from my usual route to take a walk in the wetlands, partaking of some meditation, exercise and relaxation.

Of course, I didn't take my camera with me, although it was in the car. I just didn't want to pack the extra 10-15lbs of camera equipment in my backpack. Of course, you knew I'd see something unusual didn't you? Two bright yellow canary type birds I've never seen before. As best as I can determine, they're yellow warblers, although the birds I saw had red heads. Yeah, if only I'd had my camera - or even my phone.

One of them even posed for me on a branch overlooking the bridge. Sure. Tease me. Brat.

On my way back, a family of Canada geese was walking purposefully towards me, the first goslings of the year. Eleven of the fluffy little babies scurrying along between Mom and Dad goose. As I was close to the car, I managed to grab my camera, follow them down the path at a respectful distance and get some shots of them.

Returning home, over 12 hours later, and still no internet. Phoning the company yet again to find an ET of repair, it turns out the fibre optic lines were vandalized and cut in three places over 200 yards. The outage affected tens of thousands of homes and hundreds of businesses. What the heck is wrong with people these days? You don't like the internet? Don't use it. Don't like the company? Don't use them. Pretty damn simple. But to affect everyone else is beyond ignorant and self-centred.

This is my last day before my summer farmer's markets start up again after a five month reprieve, which, this year has been wonderful! Previous years I've had so much going on, it was nice to have the time to update one of my websites this year, although the main business website still needs attention.

A beautiful day today, I've already been out for a 10km tour around the farmlands, and after coffee will load up my car with all the paraphernalia requisite at a farmer's market. Hopefully, tomorrow will equal today, weather-wise, which will translate into $$, as people always spend more money when the weather's nice.

It's a fallacy that meditation has to be done while sitting on the floor trying to empty your mind. (Although some people's minds appear to be quite empty, these days - lol - just an observation, not aimed at anyone here). Meditation is the act of being present in the moment, and that's what biking or walking in nature and photography do for me.

I kind of feel like I'm in the starting gate, preparing for the season, appropriate for the day, seeing as today's the Kentucky Derby.

STILL In the Race to be THIN

Getting older hasn’t been kind to me. I had to mark “large” on my profile otherwise I’d be lying. The problem lies in my caloric intake...I end up with the same or more than I intended to eat in a given day. It’s been robbing me of my confidence and self-esteem. Still trying to win this race. I’m always going to keep running because if I don’t, it’s inevitable weight gain. My exercise is fine. I can’t get my diet under control for one reason or another. I know I’m risking being ridiculed here but this is something I’ve struggled with for years and I really want to conquer it once and for all. I’ve been keeping a food journal but I still eat too many calories. The food journal is just another humiliating and frustrating source. very mad mumbling frustrated
