2015

let's leave behind what had happened in 2014 and move forward for a brand new year. A year to conquer those vibes that held us back and see to it that the previous year's regret won't be entertained instead gain confidence and faith that what comes our way happens for a reason and it should be something to aim positively. In other words, let's learn from what had happened previously not linger with the what ifs..

Happy New Year CS!:)

I've been known to do other things...

Simple concept... I've been known to do other things when blogging. It's called multitasking. Maybe you have tried this too! In my last blog, a member was irritated that I wasn't able to quickly respond to their comment. Actually, It was after dinner and I was doing other things that included cat napping. Maybe I should leave messages that I'm away from the computer. No, that wouldn't be accurate as I was at the computer but my eyes were closed.

I'm so guilty of surfing, online shopping or replying to emails when I blog.

I called someone and they didn't answer the phone, so I left a message. After leaving the message, I went to do something else. On occasion, I've actually called another person right after that... and it's happened that the first person will return my call/message and complain that I wasn't 'standing by' for their return call. They had to leave me a message to call them.

Life goes on... I don't want to admit it, but the cellphone sometimes accompanies my trips to the toilet. Oh, I just admitted it.

I'm currently doing a bathroom remodel and met the client last week to go over details. He asked that a small cabinet be added next to the toilet so he can work when he poops. My response was "No problem, the cabinet is in the layout."

I was in a meeting with clients when a text message came through from another client who was shopping for a refrigerator and ready to make the purchase at that moment. He expected an instant reply from me.

Unless I take the job in a 911 emergency call center, there's a good chance I'll be doing more than one thing at a time.

Chandelier...

Two weeks ago, I received a subpoena to appear at my daughters. The purpose was for dinner... and to install a chandelier in her dining room.

Dinner was great but the lighting didn't go so well.
Most new houses have cheap white base fixtures. The homeowners need to install something substantial. The fixtures are caulked to the ceiling that needs to be cut away from the drywall. If you don't it will pull off a chunk of ceiling and you have 2 jobs. Install the new fixture and repair/repaint the ceiling. Usually in that order.

The electrician didn't use the normal screws that come with the fixtures, instead they used screws that are self-tapping anchors that are rated to be used on concrete. Moron. The threads in the electric box were stripped so I had to improvise with other screws.

The chandelier had some prism shaped acrylic rods that reflected light around the room. I made the joke that she bought it from Superman as it had a similar look to his ice getaway in the North Pole.

Not a fan of parts that don't fit, it required some finagling to get all the rods and assembly to go together.

This week was another request... install pendent lights over the island.
Installation of the first light went well, but testing the illumination revealed some odd shadows on the countertop and raising/lowering the light didn't help.

Oh... there's a box in the hallway that's 30" x 30" x 30" yeah?
It's a light going over the breakfast table. I'm thinking something that would be launched over Cape Canaveral designed to circle the globe and detect alien spacecraft. I was close. Not my taste in fixtures, but everyone like that one!

Groan, two fixtures in the living/family room and I'm outta there!

The pendent lights are going back to the store tomorrow and I'll be notified when the replacements arrive.

The next big war is hard to predict,

but is likely to be extinguished in short order, not via the useless UN, and won't be anything like other conflagrations. But there will be skirmishes a plenty. One likely place is little Denmark, home of the awesome/effective Royal Marines. Sadly, not a home for much security, given the karma from Indonesia, not defending as blue helmets on the dark continent more recently, and so terminably liberall that stupidly uncontrolled imigration now has the place in it deep---way deep, and Danes know it. The right there is just getting its feet wet. BTW, real Maenner allow responses. Liberals and others should take the heat of response, after all, we can all learn something. I get hit over the head regularly here. CS bloggers are frank and helpful in this way. Best wishes, Jar Head, and all. Aa.

How did you choose your profile name?

I have seen some inventive, funny, ridiculous, and unpronounceable profile names over the years.

The most recent profile name that caught my attention was... Wenchwithwrench... is that cool name or what?
