I was rewarded deerly !

This morning I played softball.
I had a good time and went 2 for 3 at the plate, plus a walk, and I scored twice,
which equaled my activity last night. grin

When the game ended it was hot, about 88 F. and muggy.
I stopped by an Aldi store on the way home to get several food items,
plus I got some chocolate ice cream. applause

When I got home, I sat in front of a fan and had some of that ice cream,
while watching a Mets baseball game. After the game was over, I decided to go visit
a park where I have local deer becoming familiar with me. I've photographed them
about 8 times and each time they become more tolerant of my presence.
Today was the best though. At first, I couldn't find any of the deer.
Because it was hot out, I figured they were probably lying down somewhere in the woods.

So, instead, I took pictures of a green dragonfly and a blue jay, that I found.
But, I kept looking out for the deer. Eventually, I found one buck. He was alone, but luckily, he was familiar with me and allowed me to take photos of him at close range.
He usually hangs out with another buck about his age, about 4 years old.
The bucks have their antlers growing behind felt right now.

I was following him, walking parallel to his foraging and eventually I was leading him in the same direction. I sat down awaiting him to catch up (he was busy eating leaves from a small tree at the time. I was near the edge of the woods in a field looking out at him.

All of a sudden, to my surprise, 2 tiny fawn walked out of the woods and went just past me on my left, only about 5 feet from me. They looked right at me and didn't seem to mind that I was there. Perhaps they had been watching me and the buck from the woods. Either way, I got lots of great very close photos of them looking at me, preening each other, and foraging.

After about 40 photos, the 2 fawn decided to lie down in the shade together between some small evergreens, while the buck kept foraging.
I took several more photos of them lying down, and then decided to leave them be.
I didn't want to overstay my welcome. But, it was terrific to be so accepted by the little ones and the buck, perhaps their father.

I hope I'll get to see them again and see them grow up over time.

Non political blog No 1. (Mostly), Dogs...

How is it that we naturally know when a dog is using play behaviors? Probably coevolved with us, Methinks. The front paws low on the ground, arse up in the air, Eyes bright, ears partially back, tail a waggin' a mile a minute, and that broad open mouth doggy smile. Who doesn't naturally sense all this is saying, "let's romp?" OK, can't resist making this at least a little political. Bravo loves TV, especially animal shows. But he only watches Republican adverts. He's glued to the boob tube whenever our brilliant POTUS gives a thoughtful speech.

Wild wild America....

...Now we hear of a lady who, while in a national park, tried to sit down on the outhouse terlet, and was bitten from below by a Black bear, right where I like to nibble. Minor wound. But I digress.
Rangers said she probably entered for warmth and perhaps interest, ?hibernation spot?, via the back service latch.
In some parks, campers are told to ring a bell at night when on their way to the dugout shitter. Mountain lions seem to like sleeping on roof tops.
And some wonder why we kicked King George, Tojo, and the Hun's arses. Lots more. And saved many such in both big wars. You are welcome.

Flying under the influence....

.....a type of wax wing in Texas was observed to have been a little erratic (erotic?) on the wing. Crashing into windows and into each other.
The rumor is that they gorge on fermenting berries (climate change?). Three carbon fragments in abundance. Stuffing themselves until the fall. And when back in the air, look as I did in the first weeks of flight training.
But these reports and explanation come from hornythologists. Could they really know about wax wings falling off the wagon?

Friends story ...

The last time I saw Leonardo, he was aging gracefully. His once
dark hair had turned to silver, and his countenance was quiet
and refined. His home was on a quiet block, but one that I
happened to walk down daily on my way to school. I very often
would see him sitting in his favorite chair by the window,
staring out as if to take in all he sees. And yet when you looked
in his eyes, they carried the wisdom of a thousand years,
perhaps a thousand lives.
It was an odd circumstance by which I happened to meet
Leonardo in my younger days. I was at our local train station
waiting to meet my aunt Olivia who was arriving shortly. It was
a favorable chance of fate that Leonardo would be there at that
precise moment. He was wearing his traditional travel attire, sad flower sad flower THERE is more tell me --& I`ll post more........gift hug
