Trump Declares: ‘I Want A Trial’
On Friday, speaking by phone with the hosts of Fox & Friends, President Trump said bluntly, “I want a trial.”
As Mediaite reported, Trump segued into his statement after lauding the performance of Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York during the impeachment hearings. He said, “She has become a star. Her mannerism; her way of talking. It just works. She’s a tremendous person; she was fantastic during the hearings. Turner, so many people that were so great.”
Trump then turned to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who has been leading the attack against him: “You know what? The bottom line is all of those witnesses, they’re all shifty Schiff’s. Don’t forget there was no due process. You can’t have lawyers. We couldn’t have any witnesses. We want to call the whistleblower. But you know who I want as the first witness? ’Cause frankly, I want a trial. You know, I think– I could have it —”
Host Brian Kilmeade: You want a trial?
Trump: Oh, I would! Look, number one, they should never, ever impeach. I watched, I watched five people on your network yesterday say there’s nothing here. Andy McCarthy, how about Ken, special prosecutor —

But, it certainly is plausible.

who worked alongside Trump for years, predicts this will be the outcome;
Trump resigning fairly soon, before he can be impeached.
She suggests that he can't handle the pressure, and does things to 'save face'.
He will blame a lot of others first, and finally resign, before impeachment,

As the torrent emanates from directly above him, only those near him are in peril. Consequently, he is the only one who ends up covered in it.

Of course, this new information flies in the face of the “imminent” threat against the U.S. that Trump and others in his administration have stated as a rationale for the strike, and this development might give some clarity as to why we’ve seen a mess of contradictions emanating from the White House justifying the assassination.
Trump rejected a recommendation to kill Soleimani in June from then-national security adviser John Bolton after Iran shot down a U.S. drone because, according to the report, Trump’s redline for taking out Soleimani was the killing of an American by Iranian backed forces.
Was the direction to strike Soleimani based on the death of an American defense contractor who was killed in a December rocket attack by Iranian proxies in Iraq? If so, the strike then appears to have been retaliatory rather than to preempt an attack.
If NBC’s reporting is correct, it contradicts the thus far unsubstantiated claims of an “imminent” threat. And it raises the risk that the assassination of Soleimani was a violation of international law. The report adds to the confusion created when Trump claimed four U.S. embassies had been under threat, even though others in his administration have contradicted him. On Sunday, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said he “didn’t see” a potential threat “with regard to four embassies.” And lawmakers who received a classified briefing on the strike heard nothing about those same threats.
Another reason Trump may have decided to kill Soleimani emerged over the past week when the New York Times and Wall Street Journal separately reported that Trump may have ordered the strike to shore up support with Republican senators whom the president will need on his side as the impeachment trial draws nearer.
Both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence added even more nonsense to the aftermath of the strike on Soleimani by falsely claiming that the general had connections to both Benghazi and 9/11.
As with so many controversies that have come with this presidency, the multiple and contradictory have so muddied the waters that the media and news consumers may just give up on trying to understand. But this incident has the potential to bring us to war, so it is of vital importance that we get to the truth. America has been down the road of false information leading to conflicts in the Middle East, causing the loss of lives and stability in the region. Previously, it was apparent, that he TRIED to protect the president, but inconsistencies and illogical statements did more damage than good for the (so called) president. Thus, he finally spoke the truth after.

A key witness in the Donald Trump impeachment inquiry has reversed his evidence, indicating he did believe there was a quid pro quo in which US military aid would be denied to Ukraine unless it publicly launched a corruption investigation into Joe Biden.
Gordon Sondland, the US ambassador to the European Union, had initially denied any knowledge of a link between the $391 million in aid and Mr Trump's request that Ukraine launch an inquiry into his political rival.
But in a revised statement Mr Sondland said: "In the absence of any credible explanation for the suspension of aid, I presumed that the aid suspension had become linked to the proposed anti-corruption statement."
Mr Sondland said that, after "refreshing my recollection," he remembered telling a senior Ukrainian official on September 1 that the aid would "likely" be stopped unless there was an investigation into Mr Biden and his son Hunter, who sat on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
His private testimony, and the amended statement, were released by the Democrat-led committee pursuing the impeachment inquiry.
The impeachment inquiry is primarily focused on a July 25 conversation between Mr Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy
Mr Trump froze the US military assistance to Ukraine shortly before speaking to Mr Zelenskiy, prompting accusations from Democrats that he had misused taxpayer money destined for a vulnerable US ally for personal political gain.
Mr Sondland detailed how at one point Mr Trump nearly hung up on him when he asked whether the White House was withholding the aid in return for an inquiry into Mr Biden.
He said Mr Trump told him: "I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. I want Zelenskiy to do the right thing."
Mr Sondland said Mr Trump was in a "bad mood". He added: "I wouldn't say he hung up me, but it was almost like he hung up on me."
The diplomat said on September 1 he discussed the matter with Andriy Yermak, an adviser to Mr Zelenskiy.
Mr Sondland said: “I said that resumption of the US aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti- corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks."
He said he believed the plan was "ill-advised" but he did not know "when, why or by whom the aid was suspended."
Mr Sondland was asked by the committee if he thought the idea was illegal. He said: "I'm not a lawyer, but I assume so."
When asked a second time he said it would be "improper" and added: "I don’t know the law exactly. It doesn’t sound good."
Congressional Democrats also released testimony from Kurt Volker, the former US special envoy to Ukraine
He said Mr Trump had told him to "talk to Rudy" - his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani - about Ukraine matters.
Mr Volker said the president told him: "They are all corrupt, they are all terrible people. I don't want to spend any time with that."
