Clinton campaign paid tech workers to dig up Trump-Russia connections: Report

Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign paid an internet company to “infiltrate” servers at Trump Tower and the White House in order to link Donald Trump to Russia, a bombshell new legal filing alleges.

The Friday filing from a Department of Justice prosecutor tasked with investigating the origins of the FBI’s Russian probe served to throw cold water on Democrats’ longstanding allegations of collusion.

Special Counsel John Durham filed a motion related to potential conflicts of interests in connection with the case of Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, who is charged with lying to the feds, according to Fox News.

Sussmann allegedly told the FBI he was not working on behalf of Clinton when he presented the agency with documents that supposedly linked the Trump Organization to a Kremlin-tied bank two months before the election.

The lawyer has pleaded not guilty to the charge of making a false statement to a federal agent.

Durham’s motion reportedly alleged Sussmann “had assembled and conveyed the allegations to the FBI on behalf of at least two specific clients, including a technology executive (Tech Executive 1) at a U.S.-based internet company (Internet Company 1) and the Clinton campaign.”

President Kamala Harris

It happened today. President Biden transferred power to VP Harris.

True, that the transfer of power was only temporary, while President Biden
underwent a routine colonoscopy, 85 minutes to be exact.
But, perhaps it will portend a victory in 2024.
Who knows. dunno

It would be terrific if the US finally opened it's collective mind to
elect a woman president. Certainly something for the ladies to celebrate especially.

I think Harris would make a good president. Tough enough to stand against enemies and warm enough to support allies. She may not do as good as Bernie nor Warren on domestic issues, but overall, she'd probably do fine.
I think she would for the most part make good judgements after carefully weighing the information. That's certainly better than what I have seen out of most of the loonie Republican party recently and way better than the worst "co-called" president loser that got voted out in the last election, Mr. Two Time Impeachment.

So, congrats President Harris. No issues during that trial run. head banger grin

Russia tells US envoy that Russian-American relations are on the verge of rupture

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday that it had summoned the U.S. ambassador to warn that President Joe Biden's recent remarks have put Russian-American relations on the verge of rupture.

Biden last week described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a "war criminal" as Russia's missile attacks on Ukraine cities intensified. The Foreign Ministry, in a social media post, called the statement and other references to Putin and the Russian invasion "unworthy of a statesman of such high rank."

The ministry warned Ambassador John Sullivan that hostile actions taken against Russia would be met with a "decisive and firm rebuff."

The warning came hours after Ukraine firmly rejected a Russian offer to open two safe corridors out of Mariupol in exchange for the city's surrender as the relentless missile strikes on the battered seaport city stretched deeper into a fourth week.

Russian forces, facing stiff resistance against their invasion of Ukraine, have sought to gain control of cities but can claim few successes thus far. The Kremlin says its "special operation" is going as planned. But a senior Pentagon official, who spoke on condition of anonymity Monday, said Russian President Vladimir Putin has not achieved his goals and is relying on bombardment of cities in a “near-desperate” effort to gain momentum.

Mariupol, crucial for its access to the Sea of Azov, has been pounded by Russian artillery since the war began more than three weeks ago. Russian forces have been accused of bombing civilian shelters, and hundreds of thousands have recently fled the city.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk made it clear that Mariupol won't fall without a fight.

“There can be no talk of any surrender, laying down of arms," she told Ukrainian Pravda. "We have already informed the Russian side about this."

Pirate skeletons from 1717 shipwreck discovered off Cape Cod

Shiver me timbers!

At least six pirate skeletons were recently discovered in a shipwreck off the coast of Cape Cod.

The remains were unearthed from the wreck site of the Whydah, which sank near the town of Wellfleet in 1717, according to the Boston Globe.

Investigators at the Whydah Pirate Museum said the skeletons were identified in several large concretions, or hard masses of minerals, from the wreck site.

They are now being examined by a team of archaeologists led by underwater explorer Barry Clifford, who discovered the Whydah in 1984, the museum said.

It remains the world’s only authenticated pirate wreck.

“We hope that modern, cutting-edge technology will help us identify these pirates and reunite them with any descendants who could be out there,” Clifford said in a statement.

A human bone found in the wreck was also tested against a DNA sample from a bloodline descendant of the Whydah’s captain, Samuel “Black Sam” Bellamy, obtained in 2018.

“That bone was identified as a human male with general ties to the Eastern Mediterranean area,” said member of the Whydah team, author Casey Sherman.

“These newly found skeletal remains may finally lead us to Bellamy as we now have his DNA.”

Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainian military

Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said Thursday that a platoon of Russian soldiers surrendered to the Ukrainian military, saying they "didn't know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians."

At a press briefing, Markarova said, “Just before I came here, we got information from our chief commander that one of the platoons of the 74th motorized brigade from Kemerovo Oblast surrendered.”

“They didn’t know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians. They thought they were doing something else there,” she added.

Markarova was unable to say how many troops were in the platoon and did not say whether they were being detained by Ukraine.

The ambassador called on leaders of the free world to form an “anti-Putin coalition” to stop Russia’s attack against Ukraine.

“Ukraine is defending our home. We will defend our home and it’s time for all free and democratic nations who value the principles and the territorial integrity and the right of any country for peace to stand together with us, but not only stand together with us, act together with us to stop the war in Europe,” said Markarova.

When asked if she expected U.S. troops to be sent into Ukraine, Markarova noted that her country is not a part of European or Atlantic security alliances such as NATO and said Ukraine does not expect any countries to fight on its behalf, though she said any help and peacekeeping operations would be welcome.
