Houston Democrats Hosted a Gun Buyback Event and One Clever Man Took Full Advantage

Over the weekend, Houston's Democrat Mayor Sylvester Turner held a gun buyback event in a church parking lot where residents could turn in their firearms and receive a gift card ranging from $50 to $200 with no questions asked. According to the Mayor's announcement, the funds provided to those turning in firearms came from the American Rescue Plan — aka American taxpayers — and the amount-per-firearm was $50.00 for a non-functioning firearm, $100.00 for a rifle or shotgun, $150.00 for a handgun, and $200.00 for a fully automatic rifle.

Heralded as a success by the mayor and hyped up by the liberal Houston Chronicle, the event on Saturday saw 845 guns bought back and some $100,000 in gift card payments given. But the alleged success isn't exactly what it seems.

The FAQ section for the buyback noted that there's no limit on the number of firearms that could be turned in by an individual, nor was there any restriction on the types of handguns, as long as they're functioning. Enter some creative and apparently entrepreneurial individuals who saw an opening and decided to make some extra cash.

Photos and videos from the event show authorities unloading boxes of... fresh 3D-printed firearms.

One man showed up to the buyback with dozens of 3D-printed firearms, and Houston authorities had no choice but to accept them and hand over gift cards in return. The real kicker: it only cost the man $3 to print each firearm, of which he made 62, and received $50 per 3D-printed gun for a total of nearly $3,000 in gift cards.

FOX 26 caught up with the man, who remained anonymous, and asked him why he 3D-printed a bunch of firearms to sell back to Houston authorities. "The goal was not personal profit, but to send [Houston leaders] a message about spending $1 million tax dollars on something that has no evidence of any effect on crime," he said.

Still, Houston's mayor thinks his buyback program will convince criminals and gang members to hand over their firearms for as little as $50.

Camp Lejeune this, Camp Lejeune that...

Good Lord, how many times do we all have to hear about "if you had lived in Camp Lejeune between 1953 to 1988, you may be eligible for toxic water claims to receive compensation in a lawsuit."?!

Geez, that's all we ever hear these days. thumbs down

Believe it or not, I was actually born there back in 1967. My dad was a Marine and was stationed there so I fit right into the time frame. However, I have no health problems as of yet from the toxic water. It says that health problems may develop later in life. Stay tuned! uh oh

No more questions your honor...

In yesterday's news, a 3rd woman took the stand in the civil trial of Donald J. Trump. Author and journalist, Natasha Stoynoff became the third woman to testify under oath that Trump sexually assaulted her years earlier.
She was more specific and told the jury Trump forcefully kissed her while doing an interview in 2005, for People magazine at his home in Mar-a-Lago.

"She also told her direct superior at work, who was also a close friend, but she didn’t tell anyone else higher up at the magazine for fear that they’d kill her story and Trump would retaliate, she testified."

A pattern has formed and it's not looking good for Trump. Already talk of appealing the outcome, like all judgements of Donald. J. Trump, this could be in the court system for many years.

Story:

Reader comments:
Let's be direct: Trump's trial attorneys have already given up and the new plan is to get the verdict reversed on appeal.

When the person can’t be bothered to show up for a court case against them, I don’t think it cast them in the best light.

My mother is a T fan. She said she loves his policies and doesn't care what kind of person he is. "That's his business," she says. I think that's the mindset of his followers. Doesn't matter if he has integrity, honor, dignity, courage, none of it.

He didn't call any witnesses for his defense because there is no witnesses for his defense. He has no defense.

In layman's terms trump's lawyers are saying he's guilty and there is nothing we can do to help him.

Folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot dies at 84

TORONTO (AP) — Gordon Lightfoot, the folk singer-songwriter known for “If You Could Read My Mind” and “Sundown” and for songs that told tales of Canadian identity, died Monday. He was 84.

Representative Victoria Lord said the musician died at a Toronto hospital. His cause of death was not immediately available.

One of the most renowned voices to emerge from Toronto’s Yorkville folk club scene in the 1960s, Lightfoot recorded 20 studio albums and penned hundreds of songs, including “Carefree Highway,” “Early Morning Rain” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

In the 1970s, Lightfoot garnered five Grammy nominations, three platinum records and nine gold records for albums and singles. He performed in well over 1,500 concerts and recorded 500 songs.

He toured late into his life. Just last month he canceled upcoming U.S. and Canadian shows, citing health issues.

“We have lost one of our greatest singer-songwriters,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted. “Gordon Lightfoot captured our country’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped shape Canada’s soundscape. May his music continue to inspire future generations, and may his legacy live on forever.”

Once called a “rare talent” by Bob Dylan, Lightfoot has been covered by dozens of artists, including Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Harry Belafonte, Johnny Cash, Anne Murray, Jane’s Addiction and Sarah McLachlan.

Wait... wait. Are you sure about that?

When Trump left the White House, he took documents that should have been turned over to the National Archives. Months of back-and-forth and a subpoena got some returned. Somewhere along the way, his lawyers said all the documents were returned, but they had wrong information. The FBI conducted a search to get the documents back and If you recall, Trump went on social media and in the news complaining about how the search was conducted.

Maybe you one of the ones who sided with Trump, not only for the way the search was conducted but that he had rights to keep the documents in question. That search was about 9 months ago.

We're not done yet.
I heard some things today that are news (to me) where some of the Mar-a-Lago staff revealed they were instructed to do a dress rehearsal of moving boxes a day before the search and at least one of Trump's attorneys was present for the search.
I didn't pay attention to the second part, which is more significant.
While Trump claimed it was a surprise, it appears Corcoran, one of his his legal advisers confirmed the date with FBI when they could meet to pick up the documents.

Did Trump know or did he not know the date they were to arrive for the search?
We do know he was away and It was stated he was watching via the surveillance cameras.

So far, none of this is looking to be in favor of Trump. At the CNN televised meeting he admitted to having the documents and believes he has the right to retain them.

A typical day in Russia

I guess Americans should worry more about Yellowstone. On Russian Federal TV Putin’s national-security advisor. Patrushev, said, “The extinction of all forms of life in North America is inevitable because Yellowstone will blow up, and that’s why the US wants to occupy Russia."
rolling on the floor laughing banana tongue

Russia's fright trains are exoeriencing a problem. A decade or so ago Russia replaced most of their old box cars with imported, larger, ones of a new design from Sweden that can carry about 8 tons more than the old ones due to an improved suspension system. The wheels of the new rail cars use specialized cassette type wheel bearings with components made by the firms of Swedish SKF, Timken and Amsted Rail from the USA. The components had been shipped to Russia and assembled there. Every few months those bearings require replacement. Before February 2022 that was not a problem. The Russian National Transport Company (NTC),uses about 200,000 of these improved box cars. When Russia launched it's Special Military Operation sanctions kicked in and all 3 companies ceased ceased doing business with NTC and left Russia. Russia lacks the capability to make their own high tech replacement components for those wheel bearings (although efforts continue). By August of 2022 about 10,000 freight cars were taken out of service due to the lack of bearings and the impossibility of repair, By the end of 2023 it is anticipated more than 100,000 units will be no longer usable and the entire fleet of 200,000 rail cars is at risk.

Prigozhin, the head of Russia's Wagner Group (a private mercenary army under contract to the Kremlin) is a little upset at the commanding generals or Russia's Army. Something to do with ammunition shortages.
<To avoid upsetting some viewers the more gruesome parts of this video have been blacked out>

Mr. Prigozhin, in a different video he released yesterday (#2 of 3) stated that of the 50,000 Wagner troops he had arrived with and begun the assault of Bakhmut with last August, over 30,000 of them are now dead.

All 3 of his videos yesterday are available for view on JoeBlogs YouTube page. In one of them he has some specific things to say about the Commanding General of Russia's army. words like cowardly faggot, etc. Clearly Prigozhin is one of Putin's fair haired boys as he is still alive tonight. grin

Just 6 electoral votes short of the 270 needed to become the 46th US president
and leading in Nevada, a state that Hillary Clinton won in 2016, a state that has 6 electoral votes, the path to victory seems just a day away. While not taking it for granted,
Joe Biden has a consistent message to all Americans;

Today from the New York Times;

Well said Joe. It seems your cognitive skills and respect for democracy and people in general are far superior to your rival's. head banger

Decieving your voters about Election Fraud when you are trying to win an election is Bad.

Ya, A LOT later. After all, The presidential swearing in is only 14 days after the Georgia run off. Plenty of time. doh

You see, when you start telling your voters that their votes have been stolen, to appease the whines of a 74 year old toddler, your voters naturally start wondering why they should come out and vote. After all, the Enemy could just steal their votes again, right? So, why bother voting if the result is, as that voter said, predetermined?

Its a pickle. After al,l if you tell them the truth that there was no voter fraud, your Toddler could start screaming and attacking your candidates in revenge. Conversely, if you keep lying that there WAS voter fraud, your voters might not show up as they don't see the point, and they cant understand why you are not focusing on keeping their Toddler in his job which will piss them off and make the stay home.

In both scenarios you lose anyway! It is truly a pickle.blues

Hey Trumpette lemmings ! Time to pony up.

It's time to put your money where your mouth is.
Either that, or shut the hell up and finally accept that Trump lost......by a lot ! tongue

Trump asks you for $$$$ to get a Wisconsin re-count.
It will cost $7.9 Million (US) to pay for it.
At least, that is what Wisconsin seeks. It costs more this year due to Covid-19 concerns,

Trump may funnell some of that money to other worthy causes, like golf fees, Russian hookers, and personal debts, champagne for porn stars, and some other less than worthy causes.
So, perhaps pony up $25 Million and maybe that will get it done.

Of course, no guarantees the count will be much different. In fact even if he did win Wisconsin, he's till lose the election.

Perhaps if you act now, he'll throw in one of those nifty made in China MAGA caps, or perhaps a tin foil one
with a Q on top.

Now don't all rush at once. laugh
