Lucky numbers...

I haven't played the lottery in a long time and when I did, my numbers were usually randomly selected. Lots of people including ones I know do have their lucky numbers they use all the time.
The first lucky number I recall was 7.
It really wasn't lucky, but I wanted to believe it was.

Chinese people like 88 and it's believed to be lucky for their culture.
666 has no effect on them but a bad one for Americans.
So is the number 13.

Maybe you have a lucky number?

Shiola...

I read a comment today that reminded me of working for a South African guy who used the phrase "He doesn't know shit from shiola" That's not how I first heard it and I'm sure something got lost in the miles from America to South Africa. He probably heard it from a few distant relatives.

Let's go back a hundred years or so where George Melancthon Wetmore invented boot polish in the form of paste that sold in round tin cans under the name of Shinola.

In America, it was pretty commonplace to describe someone of lesser intellect who doesn't know 'shit from Shinola'

The Southern version is not knowing the difference between 'shit and apple butter' where they add the explanation 'he had to smell it to see with one to eat'

Yesterday, a young associate of mine said "Catch you on the flip-flop" and I asked if she knew what that meant. Her response was no and I explained it referenced CB radio jargon where truckers who frequented the same roadway would greet other truckers coming and going. One heading east and the other heading west might pass each other on the return trip back home.

Easter weekend...

On November 21st, 1999 14 Cubans left their country on a small aluminum boat headed North. The boat had a faulty engine and took on water during a storm. Only 3 survived and were picked up by 2 fishermen who handed them over to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Of the survivors was a young boy Elián González, his mother (who was divorced from Elián's father) had perished at sea. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) released González to his paternal great-uncle, Lázaro who was living in Miami. Back in Cuba, Elián's father was not aware his ex and son had attempted to escape Cuba and wanted his son returned.

There was much publicity about the custody case as the remote family wanted to keep the boy in Miami. (according to Wiki) Attorney General Janet Reno ordered the return of Elián González to his father and set a deadline of April 13, 2000, but the Miami relatives defied the order. Negotiations continued for several days as the house was surrounded by protesters as well as police.

On Thursday, April 20, 2000, Reno made the decision to remove González from the house and instructed law enforcement officials to determine the best time to obtain the boy. In the pre-dawn hours of Easter Eve, Saturday, April 22, more than 130 INS personnel and agents of the Border Patrol's special BORTAC unit as part of an operation approached the house, knocked on the door and identified themselves. When no one responded, they entered. Four hours after he was taken from the house in Miami, González and his father were reunited at Andrews Air Force Base.

The next day, the White House released a photograph showing a smiling González reunited with his father, which the Miami relatives disputed by claiming that it was a fake. After González was returned to his father's custody, he remained in the U.S. while the Miami relatives exhausted their legal options.

I was reminded how Easter affects people differently.

An act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government...

To some it's called insurrection. To others it's called a peaceful tour of the White House.
I have my opinion and you have yours.
This is something I predicted. Sorry I was correct. 40 minute long video. I'll watch it again.

Gullible

I was just reading this post on the recent news about this Filipina who is going to be executed in Indonesia. I feel so sorry for her but I cannot help but wonder why some people prey on other people who appear to be vulnerable and gullible? Don't they have anything else to do with their lives? Whether it is online or in real life, some people like to prey on others to extract money from them. It is amazing how they are so heartless. I do not blame the victims. Some people say that they have no brains because they allowed themselves to be victims. But remember, we do not know know the whole story why they gave in to this scams.

When will society ever change?

How can this be? whats going on?

The world on lock down is just the beginning of prison planet, they first tried with bird flu, then they tried swine flu, and they took away the word flu (who's afraid of a flu?) and changed it with virus! and people shit themselves. why is there no cases in these countries?
(Kiribati zero) (Turkmenistan zero) (Namibia zero) (Uganda zero)
(Papua New Guinea zero) (Cambodia zero) (Vietnam zero) (North Korea zero) (Greenland zero) (Mongolia zero) how has there been no outbreak in these countries? no lock down and no sign of any virus! so can cold weather and snow prevent the corona virus disease? Cold weather and snow CANNOT kill the new corona virus. There is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill the new corona virus or other diseases. Does heat kill the corona virus? Heat at 56°C kills the SARS corona virus at around 10000 units per 15 min (quick reduction) Is COVID-19 sensitive to temperature? Current evidence on other corona virus strains shows that while corona viruses appear to be stable at low and freezing temperatures for a certain period, food hygiene and good food safety practices can prevent their transmission through food. Specifically, corona viruses are thermolabile, which means that they are susceptible to normal cooking temperatures (70°C). Therefore, as a general rule, the consumption of raw or under cooked animal products should be avoided. Here are a few countries that have not reported any cases of the corona virus so far: Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, SOURCE: AL JAZEERA NEWS. How can this be if its worldwide? dunno
