I’m a middle-aged man interested in middle-aged women, and I travel a lot.

Three weeks ago, I returned home after almost four months in Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia. It was a great experience, corona restrictions were limited, life was pretty much back to normal.

I use Connecting Singles and Tinder to get in contact with local women my own age, wherever I go. It’s nice to have a cup of coffee at a café together with a new female friend, who is also interested in travelling, books, films and nature.

Most middle-aged men seem to be interested in much younger women, so for a dude like me: slim, smart, funny and friendly, it is not at all difficult to find a woman between 50 to 68 years of age. There are a lot, who divorced from their ex-husband, because he found a much younger model - and there are also a lot of widows, because their husband was so much older - and then he died.

Of course they like to have coffee or dinner with me. And here is the story about my last month on Balkan:

I met a nice woman in Serbia, at the café close to the clock tower in Novi Sad. We enjoyed each others compagny, laughed and talked about everything. It was very amusing and we cheek kissed and connected on Viper.

She called me some days later, and asked if I would like to meet again? She had rent an apartment in Belgrade for some days. There was a double bed, and we slept together.

She had an idea: I could be her temporary husband. She needed a long holiday, after her husband left her for a much younger girl, he claimed was the love of his life. After more than 30 years of marriage with my new female friend.

She had a black Peugeot and found interesting places around the country, where we could stay. Places I would never had found myself. In the mountains you can get a whole house for the same price as a simple hotel room in Denmark.

We were not really in love, but very good friends - as most real couples are, I think. And travelling together was so good. We shared the expensives, and the people we met said, we were a fine couple.

You might say, it was a fake marriage - and you’re right. But it was in fact based on respect, warm feelings and the wish of staying together day and night with another guy, for a while.

I was channel surfing yesterday and came across a show about people who take extreme measures to prepare for doomsday. The family on the episode had a garage filled with food and items to sustain themselves for months. The husband bought a large military surplus truck designed to travel on rough terrain. They went on a field trip where the man reveals a cavern with a steel door where they planned to live. They descended down by ladder and had plans to stay there in the event of some Apocalypse/world-ending catastrophe.

I see there was a landing with stairs down to the entrance. Hope he doesn't encounter 5 days of rain or the entrance will flood and they could be swimming inside that cavern!

Anyway, I went to YouTube to see if I could find that episode and to my surprise all kinds of 'prepper' videos showed up. Survival bunkers, living off the grid instructions, combat training, weapons needed, emergency food and medicine stockpile, protective gear, batteries, gas & generators, solar power, bicycle generators.

Some of the statistics say only 1% of the population will survive an Apocalypse.

When I hear the word prepper, I usually think of pepper... as in Dr. Pepper.

Standing up for truth and freedom requires real courage and an unshakeable determination not to buy into lies in any shape or form. But, it’s not always easy to discern what’s true and what’s not in a world where lies and cover-ups are becoming increasingly prevalent. Simply speaking the truth often leaves truth-tellers open to being attacked by those who place their trust in official sources and seem unwilling to probe beneath the surface by doing their own independent research. The truth is the truth. It’s not your belief or my belief or even what the majority believe that makes it so. The truth is quite simply the truth. Even if most people choose to believe a lie, that doesn’t make it the truth. It just means that those people have been deceived and are agreeing to the collective madness of groupthink.

One of the most effective ways of silencing truth-tellers is to spread disinformation that makes them look ridiculous. Disinformation agents come in many forms and may expose certain things, which have been covered up. But, they also peddle bogus theories and mix fact with fiction in a way that destroys the essence of an argument and the credibility of those speaking out against what is generally deemed to be consensus reality. A number of people have claimed that two well-known figures in the alternative media, David Icke and Alex Jones, are in fact controlled opposition who muddy the water and actually lead people astray. Genuine truth-seekers need to be constantly vigilant and be willing to thoroughly scrutinize all information, regardless of the source. Clearly, discernment is key in differentiating between those who are trustworthy and those who are not.

People who defend mainstream sources of information often seem very reluctant to accept that what is being presented to them may be a distorted version of the facts. They suffer from a strong normalcy bias, which makes it very difficult for some to believe that governments often have ulterior motives and that they lie. Perhaps people can accept that governments do lie on occasions to cover up certain things, but when the magnitude of the lies is huge and all-encompassing, it may seem completely incomprehensible. If the media, so-called fact checkers and many organisations and educational establishments are either directly under government control, recipients of funding from major pharmaceutical companies or party to other conflicts of interest, how can we ever really know how much truth there is in what they say? Speaking out against lies and any form of injustice is crucial if we are ever going to reclaim our basic human rights. When people are silent in the face of lies and deception, they collude with the lies and support a system that is taking away more and more of their freedom.
