Technical Difficulties...

Last night CS went offline, probably an hour or so. Trying to reach the site returned a page explaining Technical Difficulties with a Contact Link.
I haven't seen any comments about it and curious if anyone used the link to fill out a trouble ticket. It was late night East coast USA time zone, so most of Europe was asleep.

This is a repeat of an offline issue a few days ago and may be the reason so many blogs, comments and forum threads are disappearing.

Technical Difficulties... sounds viable.

Awww snap!

Spin Cycle...

One of my requirements of buying a condo is it had to have a washer & dryer within the unit. I shopped some communities where they had one laundry room at the end of the hallway serving all the occupants of that floor. That could be 10 apartments to use 2 washers.
Are you serious? I shower daily and use a clean towel every time. I don't wear the same jeans 6 days in a row. Laundry is serious business with me and has as long as I can remember.
Some townhouses in this area have a laundry room for every 6 units. You have to carry laundry outside of your unit... rain or shine. That doesn't work for me as Laundry often gets done anywhere in a 24 hour schedule and sometimes dry clothes stay in the dryer until wet clothes need to be dried.
I inquired with one association about installing a laundry in my own unit and told no, it's in violation of their rules and I will be fined for doing so. That includes the mini-euro styles.

The washer & dryer combo in the place I bought was old and I suspected it wouldn't take long before needing replacement. I was right and purchased a large capacity washer & dryer pair manufactured by Samsung.
Going with trends, it was an HE model washer with impeller and not the older style agitator.
Nearly three years later, (knowing what I know now) I would not buy Samsung, HE or one with an impeller.

What I'm experiencing is the spin cycle shakes violently and the machine stops. There are sensors that detect an imbalanced load and magically compensate the rotation to stop the shaking. That ain't happening here...
Sometimes the washer resets and does another fill cycle as it's programmed that way to re-balance the load... that wastes water, electricity and more importantly time. It shouldn't take 3 hours to wash a dozen towels.

I phoned customer support at Samsung and they 'walked me through' the calibration sequence for the spin cycle sensors. Better? yeah, maybe 10% better. I washed shirts, socks and underwear and it only stopped a few times. I redistributed the load each time and continued. The spin cycle with 12 minutes remaining jumps to 25 minutes when you restart it. Bastards...
Next week, I'll call Samsung again. If it requires a technician and a service call... so be it.
very mad

I don't remember this happening with the old style washer where you turn the dial (that clicked) showing all the settings.

It is driving me nuts.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is so, or how to rectify it?

Example - I must now use it is.
If I use Its with an apostrophe, it becomes...it's.

Humans and Microchips

I’m not talking about small boxes of French fries shoved into your wrist, but microchips that can and are being inserted into human hands and in cases brains.

There are some benefits:
• Security, open locks etc.
• Medical data ( Emergency Services can scan you)
• Banking and security pins (Easy payments, cashless and cardless)
• Tracking and locating missing people, especially keeping an eye on kids.

What about the cons:
• RFID chips being hacked, biohacking, big brother always watching your every move.
• Brain implants, maybe beneficial but could they contain a “kill switch” and we can be remotely euthanized.

There some companies insisting on mandatory microchipping so employees can be tracked; refusal may impact on future promotions.

Would you be willing to be microchipped if you received more pay and benefits?

Weird pop-up message on computer

I was recently on Skype....the first time in many years. I had to download the program and make a new account. Anyway, after a few days of using it, it froze up on me. I had to restart my computer and when it was restarted, a pop-up box came up saying that another computer with the same ISP was connected.

I wrote down the exact message....but I cannot find it right now. I decided to uninstall Skype and the box has not popped up since. Is this anything to be concerned about? I am technology stupid. :(

Will lose face to face communication in 20 years

Thanks to technology we are becoming the most impersonal society the earth has to offer. Driverless cars will be the norm very soon, so no more face to face with the police officer that pulls you overapplause
his laptop will have to talk to the cars onboard computer. How about the virtual doctor, no more visits to the doctor, diagnosing will be over broadband. We already have online colleges, so no more beer pong.

Robotics are growing exponentially. Today Japan introduced their robot called Pepper, the robot with EMOTIONS....hmmm! no worry about the menopause cycle here. applause

Pepper costs about $1,600. And like all good mobile products, there’s a $120 per month data fee, as well as an $80 per month damage insurance fee. (Feelings don’t come cheap.)

What a world we are creating, the loss of human feelings will be like the pen and paper....lost forever....

Building a hospital in 10 days...

I've seen video from China with a dozen or so tractors and earth moving equipment running around the clock and scheduled to build a hospital in 10 days. I keep thinking dog and pony show. Were the plans already made for a soon to open project? Land already cleared? Sewer and drainage already installed in the ground? Fast setting concrete doesn't cure in less than a few weeks, hope they know that.

In the 70's I worked for a company that made prefabricated panels. Their big contracts were for hospitals in Saudi Arabia attached to U-shape tracks bolted to a concrete slab retained the walls around steel columns and joists.

Plumbing, electrical, a/c venting takes time...

Airplane hangars, warehouses in 10 days. Fully equipped real hospitals... I have my doubts.

Improving Blog pages

Hello,

As you are all aware, we launched new pages several months ago. It was an expensive design by a large well known company (PSD2HTML.com) that came with promises of being user friendly and responsive. Needless to say it turned out to be neither. :(

Soooo, we are working on new pages to replace them.
We are going to launch 1 page sometime today as a test... the All Blogs page.

Changes include:
-The main change is it's responsive so will look better on your cellphone, ipad or desktop
-We replaced the icons at the top of the table with buttons that make their purpose more obvious
-We made the background light gray to be easier on your eyes
-We made the entire cell clickable (instead of just the Blog Title in the blue link)

After we launch the page, we welcome your constructive feedback on this page as we work to improve the blog section.

The fightback starts here.

This is really a continuation of a blog I posted in December 2013, (no doubt still available on Amazon, everything else seems to be these days) laugh In it we discussed the demise of Windows XP crying various options were put forward by bloggers, I of course swung straight into action dancing and thought about it for 4 years uh oh ok so I like to take my time, there are some things that shouldn't be rushed laugh

So I've missed the excitement of Windows 7, 8, 8.1 & now we have 10, do tell us what you think of 10 professor not that it'll make a jot of difference to me as I've gone alternative grin

In the past year we've heard from Pres Trump on how he intends to put America first, great if you happen to be an American but most of us aren't, American corporations have taken a similar stance, just this week an American site I use has advised me the cost of an ad this year is to go up 60% wow mumbling very mad that's outrageous but totally expected, the plan seems to me to be, buy up the opposition, achieve world domination, then hit em with the cost boxing I'll have to pay the 60% extra because they now own all the sites in that field & I have no choice but to use them sigh

So how are you Windows 10 (or spyware as it's known on the net) users feeling dunno confident the cost you've already paid is all you're going to pay, or are you seeing the rumours of it becoming a subscription based product and becoming concerned, or maybe you'll only have to pay extra if you want it do something, who knows.

For me the solution was easier than I'd anticipated, that dread of stepping into the unknown with a new operating system, but what's to think about, it's free, easyish to install, you can have dual boot & keep Windows just in case you don't like it, it's secure so you don't have spend extra each year on security products you only need because Windows has more holes than my socks, used by just about every major server in the world and is as easy to use as any Windows product, so what is to think about dunno

Of course for every rule there's an exception, whilst extracting the most bucks from everyone on the planet seems to be the norm for most American Corps, there are exceptions, CS being the only one I can think of at the moment banana
