Travel Bug...

My dad was born and raised in New York City. He and some of the kids in his neighborhood, joined the Navy during WWII and traveled across the Pacific Ocean a few times. He returned home, married and started a family. An amazing fact: he was aboard the battleship USS Missouri where Japan signed a surrender in 1945 that formally ended the war.

When it was time for vacation, I remember lots of road trips of a few hundred miles to upstate New York, Canada and a few trips to Miami to see relatives.

Around the time I was 6 years old, my parents decided to travel by car to California. The uncle who lived in Florida, reenlisted in the Navy as a career and traveled the world. He was stationed in California and moved his family there. They invited my parents to stay with them. The thought was a great idea to get out of New York City. Also, my dad had some Navy friends living in California, so that made the idea more attractive. Our stay was short. Less than a year later and fate had both families locating to Miami, Florida.

Most of the family travels as a kid brought us through the Southern route across America. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and a few days in Las Vegas! I think I've seen enough endless stretches of desert and mirages. The best memory was the leather fringe jacket purchased at an old west tourist attraction in Tijuana. I wore until it literally fell apart! Miami became my home. I only traveled when necessary and really not for enjoyment.

As a musician, I traveled the East coast a few times, including two tours into Canada. The money was good for a while, but things soured and I was glad to be home, started back at college and anchored myself for many years.

My brother took the Army as a career and made lots of address changes in the US and about 6 years in Germany. My parents traveled to see him at least twice and one had a stop in Italy... Rome and the Vatican. My mom was okay with travel, but it was my dad who had the travel bug!

I've been on a few cruises to the Caribbean, usually sponsored by the company I was working for and twice to Grand Bahama to manage a project assignment for hotel interiors we were contracted to do.

At least 4 trips to Ohio to see my brother... I couldn't wait to return home each time. Probably another Ohio trip is in my future this year.

Ten years ago, one trip took me half-way around the world. Door to door to a major city in South China was about 32 hours and I lost 10 pounds during that trip as I didn't consume food on the flights. Me, food and travel don't always agree. I decided to become semi-retired just as COVID hit, so my travel plans to return were dreams up in smoke.
I'm working on a few long-term projects right now and it won't be this year, but there's hope for an extended visit next year. At least 2, possibly 3 months stay to make it worth my while. My interest is meeting two grand children that I've only seen on video chat. The trip will have meaning and not to satisfy any desire to be a travel bug!

Visiting Old ______

I was born in New York and wondered what it would be like to visit Old York. I'm thinking, if there's a New York, they're must be an Old York... kinda like a parallel universe where Mister Spock has a goatee in one universe and clean shaven in the other!

That also has my curiosity about Old Jersey and if it looks the same as New Jersey.
New Haven... Yup, what's the connection with Old Haven.

Does New South Wales resemble Old South Wales?
Should I travel down unda... I'll have to check things out.

I'm sure there are similarities in New Mexico and Old Mexico as they probably make good tacos there.

Last on my list (for now) would be New Caledonia and how it compares to Old Caledonia.

I used to live in the Northeast section of Miami and the same street exists in the Northwest section. Similarly, they have the same house numbers over there and sometimes, I'd get mail intended for the person with the same street and house number but NE instead of NW. I'm sure they got my mail by mistake.

My brother asked if I could visit him in Dayton, Ohio. Oddly he has a neighboring city of Miami. I suppose there are people eccentric enough to buy houses in different states with the same named cities and the same street and house number.

I could use Google Maps and research dual houses with the same city name, street and house number. I'd need a pile of money to convince the residents of both houses to move out and let me move in. Then I could start a YouTube channel and upload videos about my move back to Miami... Florida and Ohio.

After I get the hang of it, I'll explore the same having houses in both New and Old.

In to the wild

I have been in the wild for some days.

Ocean on one side but acres and acres of thick forestry all around.

The safari vehicle is not the coolest ride. ( I mean not comfortable) Bumpy rides in dusty roads. Body feels like beaten up.

I think wild has lived in peace for quite some time.

I know we have to be careful about the virus. But the wheels of economy have to roll. Livelihoods have to be powered up.

I have taken 3 rides in to wild. Today I am taking a rest.

There are plenty of deer, buffaloes, peacocks, and wild boars. But I am looking for leopards. Beautiful but shy animals.

Visions.

After the things happening, I saw it. The visions came to me, of endless joy and happy days. Even my heart feels the innefable urge to pour in tears where my eyes catch a glimpse of, that pass under the train brige.. ¿Remember those times, M? ¿Remember those memories?

Iceland. Sweden. Green. Memories. Summer. Nature. Hopes. Loves. Stop. Please stop...

And of course, I always have to do these kind of things in order to set my brain free, helping it to release the exact and neccessary amounts of endorphines and other chemicals, forcing these hopes & memories to enter my bloodstream; to remind me of what I am made of, to make me want the things I once had, but never got.

At the same time Patagonia feeds this neccessity to have romance pour into my every minute. I am Argentinian. I am at home. I never need to leave home, yet the times I have lived pull my legs and my body into a state that I cannot deny: I am in love. In love with it all. In love with the hope to find it (her?) again...

Have you ever had that feelin that love passes you by in every corner in every street? I feel she is here, and there. The images inside my brain when I'm overdosed in life tell me the story of something about to happen. Fireplaces and love making are the essence to these dreams.

¿Will I ever get to make them true?

Love the 5 Km nature walk from the airport here....

to our hostel. After the first few hundred yards, the smells of jet diesel morph somehow into more natural nose delights. The many exotic (for a Mainer) fragrances of various families of flowering plants, and grasses, are a rush-as when I visit family on Oahu. No matter how many times we come this way, nonending surprises, and old pals alike. And it's great to watch the many pollinators at work, insects and birds, even me, perhaps, when touching stamen to pistils, trying to see if that bee is Italian or Caucasian. Or a bumblebee. All those strange frogs, and the rabbits. Before all this excitement, enjoyed the chat with the lovely Azorean Lady vet, who examined papers and the health of a new friend's 6 month old English Pointer "Dodger", who seemed to survive the 4 hour kennel bound trip in heated/pressurized storage, frisky temperment fully intact. School kids with banners, proclaiming Human rights, marching down tight cobbled streets. VIVA, VIVA! Must have missed this in the news. Didn't miss the equities markets world wide. OUCH!

How do you do to forget? To not miss anymore?

It's been exactly 8 years already, and I still can't seem to move on. Yeah, I move on, on the outside, new people, new relationships, but still no one that compares to her.

"I've turned away from you, and now I am Godless".

Shit man, how do you cope? How do you move on? Srsly. How? When?

The other colleague said, she wants in a snowy place. Well, as a third country nationals, travelling is not easy for us. The most we could go, is the european territories.
We were in Armenia , Giorgia and Dubai last year. My searched this time is...Paris, Lucerne, Milan, Venice and Rome . Two nights stay in a hotel each place. We planned to leave in March first week. Is Lucerne still snowy that time???guys from Switzerland ...teddybear
