Quebec, Canada.

Merely a few short and lovely hours by Rolls-Royce from the Aa palace in Maine. EH? But what a different world. I know I rant on the ueber PC nature of our neighbors to the north, but they really are lovely in every way, and run a country admirably. Waiting for the ladies to indulge in a little clothes shopping at an enormous Mall, after the same in the quaint shoppes in Vieux-Quebec. They have dad's credit cards in hand---OUCH!. Tiny feelings of a vacation in Paris, without the fear of terrorism. Bravo approves of the hot French barking lady dogs. Home again tonight. Festivals all summer here----150th country anniversary begins next week. Two weeks of celebration. The Who outdoors! Aa.

The first teleport step taken At LAST

okay, only a photon but - the first manned flight was not particularly impressive. It would have been impossible to guess, watching the Wright brothers fly 120 feet in their first attempt in 1903, that Lindbergh would, in 1927, fly the Atlantic. Completely impossible to guess that Lindbergh would be a guest of honour watching Apollo 11 head to the moon in 1969.

So a photon this week could be a mammal in - how long?

I want to know when I can teleport from London to Edinburgh - an hour and a half, flying time, usually. Because yesterday I got to Stansted at 6 pm and I got to Edinburgh at 11 pm and I'm a bit bored with the conventional ways of getting from A to B.

Maratika Namobuddha Lumbini Buddhist Tour - Healing & Meditation....

Last week we did a 10 days trip in Nepal. We got a group coming from different countries and collected in Kathmandu. We started up our Buddhist Tour on 10th of July from kathmandu to Maratika -260 kilometer/8 hours drive with 4WD Japanese jeep. In Maratika, we spent 2 nights and we did a wonderful meditation in Manjushree cave. It was such a powerful cave(spiritually). Then we came back to kathmandu then did a sightseeing with a wonderful tour guide in world heritage sites in kathmandu. Then took breathtaking scenic flight to Lumbini to the birth place of Lord Buddha. Spent 2 nights there too and back in Kathmandu with the same sort of flight. Then we went to NamoBuddha 2 hours drive in one of the loveliest Buddhist pilgrimage sites. All the tours we did with wonderful meditation and lovely healing in different monasteries and caves. heart beating heart beating heart beating heart beating heart beating heart beating

Age and mileage, please

I’m looking for a specific kind of vehicle, and suddenly noticed a certain familiarity about my list. See if you can spot it.

Not too young - they’re too expensive.
Not too old - they’re too high maintenance
Number of owners - lots is a definite eyebrow-raiser
Fuel consumption - how heavy a drinker?
Performance when the going is tough
Comfort - definitely important
Looks - don't mind a bit tatty or dented, but not rusty

And I wouldn’t really want a vehicle which coughed, spluttered and emitted clouds of smoke when started up on a cold morning.

Yup. Very like a singles checklist rolling on the floor laughing

At least with vehicles I can check them on DVLA (our vehicle website) and see when they last had a roadworthy test. One possible turned out to be 10 years older than the ad said, and had 100K more on the clock. That’s a bit familiar too laugh

Any advice? On vehicles, I mean, but all the funnier if they relate to singles too grin

Miss U My Jamaica

Sixteen years away from my paradise island. Such a unique place to be. Whether u want to have Christian fun or sinful fun, its there.

Street parties from 10pm till rooster crows at dawn. Or dance inside a houseparty or a club.

Church time- people get filled with the Holy Spirit, take their shoes off and dance from one corner to the next. Or on the ground shaking filled with the Holy Ghost. This you will see mostly at Protestant churches. Good and real spiritual fun.

Wide variety of delicious seafood and jerk chicken and pork with festival or roasted breadfruit. Yummy! !

Crystal clear golden sandy beaches. Numerous hotel chains.

Tranquil rivers and waterfalls.
Historic sites.

I just love you Jamaica and want to be back with my kids soon as I can and maybe I will never leave again.

Calm yourselves and be crime free. Though crime is everywhere, you must not allow the world to degrade our unique talented nation.

Be proud of who you are, strong, black, proud, straightforward. Direct from Africa we came as slaves to toil in the canefields from dawn til dusk.

We are better now. We have seen and learned. We are not fools.

The friendliest set of people on the planet, only if they could get to know us before they judge us.

God Bless Jamaica- Land Of Wood And Water.rolling on the floor laughing head banger applause heart beating teddybear cheering kiss

Meeting up with one of our long time member, Gentle Jim

Embedded image from another site

Jim and I had finally met after some failed attempts.

We had a good dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings in Jamesville, Wisconsin.

Instead of flying out to Chicago, I decided to drive just so it's easier to meet up with him.

A pleasant experience and thank you Jim for your time.

We'll meet again and maybe we can invite Mic to join us. hug

Maratika Tour - A tour to experience different.

Maratika Tour is a Buddhist pilgrimage tour. Maratika cave is situated in the eastern part of Nepal namely in Khotang district. In and around the Maratika cave, there are other caves around and all of them are quite sacred, holly and blessed by the enlightened personalities like guru Padmashambhava, Amitayush Buddha and Abhilokiteshwor.
Since Banepa Bardibas road connection makes great accessible to khotang, it is now quite easy to travel by road from Kathmandu to maratika. It is even easy now since the motor- able bridge has been built in the jayaramghat above the Koshi River.
Maratika cave history and/or maratika cave biography goes this way from the spiritual point of view according to Buddhism:- maratika Cave and maratika monastery (Maratika is also known Haleshi ) are located in Khotang District in Nepal, circa 185 km south west of Mount Everest. It is a very sacred site of pilgrimage associated with Mandarava, Padmasambhava and longevity. Mandarava and Padmasambhava realised a number of terma that had been elementally encoded as terma in Maratika Cave by Dakini Sangwa Yeshe, terma that number among the longevity teachings of Buddha Amitabha and given to Bodhisattva Avalokiteswara. At Maratika Cave, Mandarava and Padmasambhava attained the Vidyadhara of longevity or long life. That is why it is believed that visiting to Maratika cave grants long life to the visitors.
Distance from Kathmandu to halesi mahadev or Maatika Cave is 260 kilo meter and it takes around 10 hours and need to hire a 4WD jeep since 30 kilometers road is not that good from jayaramghat. Kathmandu to halesi by road used to be difficult at the past but not anymore now.
Maratika Cave Tour for long life can be done in 5 days but if you want to make your tour a bit longer and want to visit other sacred Buddhist places in Nepal then you can join a tour called Maratika Namobuddha Lumbini Tour which allows to visit other famous Buddhist places including the birth palce of lord Buddha organized by Nepal tours.
Example outline itinerary of Maratika Tour.
Day 1, Arrive in Nepal and transfer to Hotel.
Day 2, Drive with 4WD jeep to Maratika 10 hours/260 kilometers.
Day 3, Puja, sighseeing and meditation in Maratika and other caves.
Day 4, Maratika to Kathmandu by the same Jeep.
Day 5, Departure.

On the water....

Normally, esp. when the girls were younger and not away at school, and mom and dad were still an item, we'd take some time to sail north for family vacation. Usually up to the lovely area near the Canadian border, where tides and currents are a challenge, and you have to bring with you all you need. Eastport and Campobello Island. Now it's Mr. Bravo and me, Have done short day sails with visitors though-several this summer. No time for longer trips with so much to do at home. So to temporize, we'll explore the striking beauty of Acadia National Park. I stupidly used to look down my snout at this place, which is not as well known as the larger ones out West. And it's only some 40 miles away as the crow flies. Drove there to watch the partial eclipse. Stunning beauty. Still some ground fish. Google it. Aa.

Adventures in caving, or spelunking

My favourite hobby by far is caving. It's a little bit more challenging than the hiking, and scrambling I normally do. Caves are very fascinating to me. Recently, I explored the ape caves at Mt. St. Helen's national park. The caves were chilly, and damp. Moss covered everything, which is classic for Washington state. These caves are a little different from traditional caves that are carved out by water mostly. These caves are old lava tunnels. You can still see where some of the lava flowed out of the rocks, and solidified. It was a intresting experience climbing over rocks, and crawling through tunnels. I got a little banged up, and muddy, but it was a fun adventure. I especially liked the way the light came down from openings in the ceiling, and made the place look even more enchanting. Any one else been caving?
