Its just the abject terror of people through the ages trying to justify life after death.... or opportunists gaining power through that fear.

The name Lucifer was associated with Satan way before Latin Greek translations. In the life of Adam and Eve fallen angels, fall of a man Lucifer. Satan ..etc everything was there since the Canaatie story of Enki and Enlil.
As for your claim the poor translations in the NT is also questionable because it was not translated, it was written in Koine Greek.
