twinkletoes69: How many of you would move to a different country for love?
Give up your whole life, family friends and start a whole new life

wouldn't have to be for "Love", I would move if the situation was right though. In fact i think about it quite a bit. Thing is that I would want to do it within the laws that apply and I already know that can be complicated. I can say that i would not rule out "Love", but I would not want to set myself up for a big fall or to be stuck in some situation of extreme vulnerability or illegal status. anyone have any ideas? (positive ones please).

tomcatwarne: God no unlesss you are into sheep I have lived in many countries, the last being Finland (next door to Russia), and in my opinion , with all it's faults, there is no place like home (UK)

A friend of mine with whom I served in the RAF met an American lady who worked in the Embassy in London 3 years after his wife died in 2003 and they married here and moved to Seven Oaks SC in 2007 just after she retired where her family lived.

All was OK that side of the pond until they both realized just how two faced, fascist and hypocritical *American* doctrines and attitudes are so they quietly bought a place in Broadstairs in 2012 and moved back here.

Her family sold up and moved to a place near Canterbury last year which they bought in the late 1990's and are now applying for British citizenship. Even they say, having been here many times when their daughter was working that the UK and especially Kent is a far more civilized place to live than anywhere in the states and especially the South.

I'm guessing you have never lived in the US of A, because if you had done so, you would find, that just like merry England, there are good and bad parts, I lived and worked in various cities and states and loved most of them, people colour life with their specific experiences, that doesn't mean its true in all cases.

Bauksi: Too old for such a bold step.
IMO that's only for younger people.

I moved to China when I was 54, been here 5 years and planning my next move for 2015, hopefully either Macau or Vietnam, after another 5 years I will move to the Philippines, where I will have a very happy retirement in my house on the coast.

Moving to new country is not age related, it's all about the excitement, the new cultures, learning new customs and enjoying local food. How can anyone get tired of that??

LoL, I have a (platonic) friend who once had a problem with ICE. Told her if she lost her fight and was deported, I would follow her so she wouldn't be alone in a place she knew no one and barely remembered the old language of. Happily she won her fight with ICE so I didn't have to put my life where my mouth was, but I was ready to.

I have a cookbook entitled, "White Trash Cooking", should you ever be interested in adding some new and intriguing delicacies to your cuisine.

Road kill makes for some especially tasty stews. thumbs up

I did, but I brought my love with me. Had to learn a new language as well. Great adventure. Yes, I'd do it again. Don't really have to give anything up nowadays with communications being so good.

tarmac, and baked in the sun a few days. As well as eating, you can
